98: Chapter 98 The Green Tea Ex-Boyfriend Drops Solid Evidence

The screen split in two.

On the right half, Su Wantang was sunken into the silk sofa of a high-end apartment. The ring light cast a perfect warm tone, with the filter set to max. She wore a white shirt with a slightly open collar, her long hair loose, looking as exquisite as a fragile porcelain doll.

On the left half, Li Li was straddling a chipped plastic bench. Behind him was a red brick wall with a large patch of plaster peeling off, revealing the cement base. He was wearing that old, fraying undershirt, with the original camera settings, and the unshaven blue stubble on his chin was clearly visible.

The sense of disparity was extreme.

The moment Su Wantang saw the figure on the other side of the screen, tears slid precisely down her left cheek, without even smudging her makeup.

The comments section exploded immediately.

"Tangtang, don't cry! We're all here!"

"I feel sick seeing a domestic abuser! Everyone, let's click report together!"

"My heart aches for Tangtang. How did she survive these four years? It's too tragic!"

Haidian District. A certain high-end residential complex.

Jiang Rumu sat cross-legged on the carpet, holding half a potato chip in her hand. A tablet was playing this live stream.

She stared at the man in the tattered undershirt on the left side of the screen.

"Who is he trying to fool?"

This man didn't even frown when he was in the Middle East under heavy fire, and even with an AK47 pointed at his forehead, he was still calculating structural mechanics. Would he commit domestic violence against a woman?

Jiang Rumu tossed the chip into her mouth. Crunch.

Qingcheng Orphanage.

Li Li leaned back against the chair and moved closer to the phone's microphone.

"That's enough."

His voice transmitted from the live stream, carrying a bit of static.

"Stop acting. Let's finish the process quickly; I'm in a rush."

On the right side of the screen, Su Wantang's sobbing cut off abruptly.

She froze in place.

This was absolutely not the Li Li she knew. Before, as long as she shed a tear, Li Li would apologize and admit fault in a panic, taking all the responsibility onto himself.

The current Li Li had "watching a monkey show" written all over his face.

In the camera's blind spot, Sun Kezheng knocked heavily on the whiteboard twice.

Su Wantang collected herself, opened her mouth, and prepared to continue acting according to the script.

Li Li did not give her the chance.

"You just said in the live stream that I didn't let you talk to male colleagues?"

Su Wantang nodded subconsciously.

"Yes! Your desire for control is too strong; I couldn't even have normal social interactions—"

"Su Wantang." Li Li interrupted her.

He picked up a worn-out notebook beside him and opened it.

"You went into full-time live streaming after graduating from university. You only just signed with Shenghui Entertainment a few days ago. For these four years, to save money, you didn't even hire a moderator assistant."

Li Li tapped the notebook with his fingertips.

"Every time you did an outdoor stream, I was the one who took time off to be your free labor, carrying the sixty-pound battery, the two-meter-high light stand, and adjusting the sound card parameters."

"When you finished streaming at two in the morning, I went to buy you late-night snacks and cleaned up the mess."

He looked up and stared directly into the camera.

"May I ask, where did you get these male colleagues? Did they fall from the sky? Or did one of your top-ranking donors cross the internet cable to work as your colleague?"

The live stream comments paused for a second.

Immediately after, the sentiment began to shift slightly.

"That's right, Su Wantang used to be an independent streamer without even a team; where would she get colleagues?"

"There really was a man who often helped move things in the background when she streamed before. Could it be Li Li?"

"The free labor has been confirmed."

Top-floor conference room of Shenghui Entertainment.

Zhou Hui smashed his cigar into the ashtray.

"Trash!"

A layer of cold sweat broke out on Su Wantang's back.

Li Li wasn't playing by the rules, tearing her accusations to shreds with the most basic logic.

In the camera's blind spot, Wen Di was stomping her feet in anxiety, frantically holding up the cue card.

Sun Kezheng lowered his voice and shouted silently, "Male friends! Say he hit you! Hurry up!"

Fine sweat seeped from Su Wantang's forehead.

"I... that was a slip of the tongue!" She raised her volume, trying to drown out the skepticism in the comments. "I meant male friends! You wouldn't let me have contact with male friends, and you even hit people!"

The more she spoke, the more confident she became, and tears welled up again.

"You have severe violent tendencies! You don't just smash things, you also hit people!"

The comments were swayed again.

"Slips of the tongue are normal! People say the wrong thing when they're nervous!"

"The point is he hit someone! Domestic abusers should die!"

"Hitting people is absolutely unforgivable! Call the police and arrest him!"

Li Li looked at the screen. He froze. The ballpoint pen in his hand stopped in mid-air.

He didn't immediately refute, his expression revealing a strange, hard-to-understand look.

Seeing this, the haters in the comments cursed even more enthusiastically.

"He's feeling guilty! He has nothing to say!"

"It's confirmed! It's confirmed! He's admitting it!"

Li Li threw the pen on the table. He sighed.

"Su Wantang."

"What!" Su Wantang was unnerved by his tone.

"I didn't intend to destroy you with evidence," Li Li scratched his messy short hair, looking puzzled. "But you... do you really have to insist on me exposing you?"

Su Wantang was completely stung by his condescending attitude. The inferiority complex in her bones surged up.

She was convinced that Li Li was a pauper; on the day they broke up, he couldn't even hold his phone steady, so it was absolutely impossible for him to have any means of retaliation.

Only she knew about those covered-up secrets of the past.

"Stop bluffing here!" Su Wantang grabbed the iPad beside her and shoved it directly in front of the camera. "Bring out your evidence! I have video records of you hitting people!"

The live stream room was instantly in an uproar.

"Holy crap! There's actually video evidence!"

"Ask for the hammer, get the hammer! Li Li is done for!"

"Play the video! Let the whole internet see this scumbag's true face!"

Byte Group. Production Team conference room.

Pei Zhao stared at the live stream on the big screen, twirling a string of sandalwood beads in his hand.

"Director Pei, this..." The assistant director swallowed hard. "If the video of him hitting someone is really released, this contract..."

Pei Zhao didn't speak. The beads spun rapidly.

Su Wantang tapped the screen. Play.

A somewhat blurry surveillance clip appeared in the live stream.

In the living room, three people were confronting each other.

A man in black suddenly rushed forward and grabbed the collar of a man in white.

Bang! A punch landed on the man in white's face.

The man in white stumbled backward. The man in black followed up and kicked him in the knee.

The man in white fell to the ground. A long-haired woman nearby screamed and rushed over, clutching the man in black's arm tightly, pulling desperately.

There was no sound in the video. But even through the screen, one could feel the ferocity.

The image quality was blurry, but the silhouettes were extremely clear.

The man in black was Li Li, and the woman breaking up the fight was Su Wantang.

The video looped three times.

Su Wantang moved the iPad away and looked at the camera with red eyes.

"Everyone has seen it. This is the evidence of him hitting people. That guy was just a normal friend of mine who kindly walked me home, and he got beaten like this by him."

The few rational fans in the comments who were originally speaking up for Li Li were now all silent.

The whole screen was filled with only one word.

"Get lost."

"Ban him!"

"Call the police and arrest him! Intentional assault!"

Li Li sat on the plastic bench. He moved closer to the screen.

He scrutinized the footage that had just played for two seconds.

His left wrist subconsciously rotated half a circle. His joints made a very faint clicking sound.

"Correct." Li Li nodded. "That's true, it is me in the video."

"But don't you want to know who the other person is?"
