16: Chapter 16 A Terrifying Beast Tide! The Great Xia's High-Ranking Officials' Reaction

Ten minutes later, the originally fresh air in the forest was filled with a thick scent of blood.

Reporter Wang Xiaoli, who had climbed up a large tree, was panting, her body and mind in an indescribable state of disarray, her round eyes wide as she stared at the chaotic scene all around her.

Her pupils dilated, her lips pale, "How could it be like this..."

Within her line of sight were numerous human remains and severed limbs, flesh and blood flying everywhere; the scene was extremely gruesome. Just a short while ago, beneath the very tree she was now in, several colleagues who could not climb trees had been torn apart alive by a few wild wolves!

"Ugh..."

She vomited on the spot, staring up at the sky with despair in her eyes, "What on earth has happened..."

"How could such a situation occur..."

She could not understand it. Just a second ago, their group had been in a relaxed mood as if they were out for a spring outing, yet the next instant, they had experienced hell.

Of the team she was in, she was the only survivor. If it were not for the fact that she grew up in the countryside and had learned the skill of climbing trees from a young age, she would have been trampled into pulp by the herd of beasts just like her colleagues.

"Hmm... What is that?"

Looking up in despair, she was surprised to see a gray figure in the distant sky.

Although it was very far away and the gray figure was just a small gray dot in her field of vision, staring at this small dot made her feel a sense of dread even greater than what the beast herd had caused earlier.

A thought suddenly popped into her mind, "Could it be that this creature triggered the beast tide?"

...

Reporter Wang Xiaoli was not the only lucky one to have survived the forest beast tide; there were a few others.

Among them was a cameraman from another team who also felt the oppressive force coming from the sky.

He zoomed in with his high-definition lens and was shocked to see a large gray eagle!

All the citizens of Jianghai City flooded into the live stream, clearly seeing the large gray eagle in the footage.

"What species is this large gray eagle? Is there anyone knowledgeable who can educate us..."

"Even though it is thousands of miles away, I can feel a sense of dread just from the screen..."

"Could it be that the cry emitted by this large gray eagle caused the entire mountain forest's beast herd to flee?"

"That is impossible, right? Although this large gray eagle looks very heroic, how could it possess the ability to make the beast herd feel the fear of facing a natural predator?"

"Strange, it is really too strange. From now on, we really cannot go to the suburbs... Sigh... I had clearly promised my girlfriend to go out into the wild next week..."

...

Very quickly, the beast tide incident that occurred in the suburbs of Jianghai City caught the attention of all the netizens of the Great Xia Kingdom and, even more so, caused concern among the top brass of the Great Xia Kingdom.

The capital of the Great Xia Kingdom, Longcheng.

Experts from various fields across the entire Great Xia Kingdom gathered together.

"Everyone, recently in the Great Xia Kingdom... no, across the entire Blue Star, there have been reports of unprecedentedly large beasts appearing. What are your thoughts on this?"

Sitting at the head was a vigorous old man, who was also the person in charge of the Scientific Research Department and the head of the Scientific Research Department.

"These creatures are all mutations of animals in the natural world, likely due to the spiritual energy in the air."

"That is right. Ever since spiritual energy appeared on Blue Star a month ago for unknown reasons, the animals on Blue Star began to mutate gradually, their neural systems becoming more developed and their bodies becoming stronger..."

"This is a topic worth researching, but it is strange why the head of the Scientific Research Department would summon us to Longcheng for a meeting?"

An expert raised this question, which was almost the shared sentiment of all the experts present.

The vigorous old man, the head of the Scientific Research Department, shook his head upon hearing this, "I know what you are all thinking... believing that this matter is not worth summoning experts with achievements in all fields of the Great Xia Kingdom..."

A pair of cloudy but bright pupils swept across the hundreds of people in the conference room, "But I must tell you that this matter of animal mutation is absolutely not a trivial matter; it is a major event concerning the survival or extinction of the entire human race on Blue Star!"

"What?!"

"Leader, what does that mean?"

Without waiting for everyone to ask questions, the head of the Scientific Research Department pressed the remote control in his hand, and images were instantly projected onto the screen in front of them.

A pitch-black mysterious snake, over ten meters long and thicker than a human waist, was shown; under its abyssal maw, an average adult would be completely insignificant.

The next image was a blood-red tiger, which, not counting its tail, was a full five meters long, resembling a small red truck. What shocked everyone even more was... this blood-colored giant tiger had actually grown two long fangs exposed on the outside, which was clearly a massive mutation.

Next was a large underwater crocodile...

Seeing the strange creatures constantly cycling on the screen, the hundreds of big-name professors from different fields in the conference room could not help but open their mouths wide.

"Are these creatures all mutations of wild beasts in nature? They are simply monsters from science fiction movies!"

"It is unbelievable! Spiritual energy has only appeared for a short month, and such terrifying creatures have already appeared in nature!"

"It seems that spiritual energy is even more mysterious than we imagined! We must speed up the research into the mysteries contained within spiritual energy!"

"Huh? Why is there a large gray eagle?"

The footage presented over a dozen strange giant beasts, and finally, the screen froze on a large gray eagle, causing the discussion in the conference room to stop.

Everyone felt somewhat confused, because the dozen or so giant creatures in the previous footage were all exceptionally massive, and compared to those big guys, this large gray eagle had the difference of an adult compared to a toddler.

"Does this large eagle have anything special about it?"

The head of the Scientific Research Department clearly understood the confusion in the hearts of the many professors and experts and spoke up, "The images just projected are all data on strange creatures currently received within the Great Xia Kingdom that I have compiled. The reason I put this large gray eagle last is because this large gray eagle might be even more terrifying than all the massive creatures before it!"

"What?!"

"What exactly is the origin of this large gray eagle?!"

"Quiet." The head of the Scientific Research Department scolded, and when the scene calmed down, he continued to explain.

"I believe you all know about the beast tide video in Jianghai City that has been spreading like wildfire on the domestic internet recently. It is highly likely that this large gray eagle caused it!"

"Before the beast tide occurred, viewers watching the live stream clearly heard a sound similar to an eagle's cry. We speculate that it was precisely this cry that caused the beast tide to erupt!"

"Just imagine, if this large gray eagle could truly cause hundreds or thousands of wild beasts to form a stampede and flee with just one cry, how terrifying must its true form be?"

Hearing the answer from the head of the Scientific Research Department, everyone in their hearts could not believe it.

"Is this large gray eagle really that powerful?!"

"Could it be a monster!"

"I suggest capturing this large gray eagle and handing it over to our biology department for dissection; we will definitely be able to obtain quite a bit of scientific research data!"
