60: Chapter 60 The Panic Caused by the Lion Pride

Divine Phoenix Mountain.

A massive bird with pure white feathers lay prone on the open space at the mountain's peak, bathing in the gentle sunlight. Framed by the surrounding towering mountains and the faint mist lingering at the summit, it formed a beautiful landscape painting that the ancient people of the Great Xia Kingdom would have yearned for.

Suddenly, a golden light flashed on the mountain peak.

Ye Yang, who had been fast asleep, opened his eyes. His snow-white, gleaming body gradually rose, and he stood on the peak, his golden eyes gazing into the distance.

"Strange... How could such a powerful fluctuation be coming from that direction..."

It was in the direction he was gazing that the sleeping Ye Yang had been suddenly awakened by an astonishing aura.

Relying on his intuition, he sensed that a powerful creature had appeared in the distance in that direction.

He felt a bit of interest.

"I wonder what creature is evolving to cause such a commotion..."

That aura was faintly catching up to his own.

This meant that the creature evolving and upgrading likely also had a level of "D-".

At the same time, he felt some confusion; if there really was a creature that was a "D-" level beast like him, how had it evolved so quickly?

Ye Yang had his Basic Breathing Technique running twenty-four hours a day, which was equivalent to having an automatic cultivation cheat on, allowing him to evolve to his current level so quickly.

"Maybe it was just lucky and ate a large amount of spirit fruit..."

Afterward, Ye Yang lay back down, continuing to enjoy the warm sunlight below the mountain peak.

As long as that creature didn't come to his territory, he didn't care. Anyway, he could become stronger just by lying flat; there was no need to go out and roam...

He firmly adhered to the principle of becoming stronger as a salted fish: stay steady, develop, and don't be reckless...

...

On the other side, the civilian helicopter carrying Reporter Wang Xiaoli and her team deliberately bypassed the outskirts of Jianghai City and flew toward the city center.

Once they arrived in Jianghai City, their media company immediately handed the video of Yangguan Village over to the Jianghai City authorities.

To the media company's shock, they soon received a notification from the Jianghai City authorities that this video news report needed to be published immediately.

Not only was it to be published immediately, but the bloody content of the original video was only to be partially pixelated. They were required to upload it without editing, and the Jianghai City authorities would even use official media accounts to help them promote this news.

This left the editor-in-chief of the media company extremely astonished; no media outlet in the Great Xia Kingdom had ever broadcast such a bloody video before.

But since it was an official requirement, they had no choice but to comply.

Soon, this news spread rapidly throughout Jianghai City.

News Title: Yangguan Village Destroyed! Terrifying Lion Pride! Demon Lions!

"What the hell! Which unscrupulous media outlet is using clickbait?!" "Why give the news such a sensational name?!"

"It looks real in the video, but it must be synthesized. Someone must be filming a movie there."

"Look closer! The official media of Jianghai City also forwarded this news video!"

"What?! You're not kidding, right?!"

"Could it be that both this media news and the video are real?!"

"It's real! Someone from the city called their family in Yangguan Village, and no one answered!"

"My god... Could it be that a man-eating lion pride really has appeared outside Jianghai City... Are all the people in Yangguan Village dead?!"

"This male lion is so terrifying. I wonder who is stronger, it or the Prehistoric White-Feathered Great Eagle..."

"Sigh, it looks like we can't stay in Jianghai City anymore. Let's run away as soon as possible!"

Originally, the citizens living in Jianghai City did not believe the news and videos released by the media company, thinking it was an event meant to grab attention and traffic.

But now that the official media of Jianghai City had stepped in and forwarded it immediately, it caused panic among the millions of citizens in Jianghai City!

Could it be that there really was such a terrifying lion pride in the outskirts of Jianghai City?!

And that male lion, with its sturdy, massive body and soul-shaking aura, was just as horrifying as the Prehistoric White-Feathered Great Eagle!

...

After the Jianghai City authorities received the video, they immediately went into action, gathering personnel to discuss countermeasures.

At the Jianghai City Administrative Office, a large number of personnel flooded in.

"Hello, is there anything the Jianghai City authorities need to clarify?"

"Is it true that besides the Prehistoric White-Feathered Great Eagle, there is a terrifying lion pride in the outskirts of Jianghai City?!"

"Why did the golden male lion's body expand rapidly after eating the elderly in Yangguan Village?"

"Hello... excuse me, what measures will the authorities take?"

A large number of onlookers and media reporters surrounded the outside of the Administrative Office, and the massive crowd blocked everything.

The security personnel of the Administrative Office were all mobilized to block the flow of people and prevent anyone from entering.

Faced with the reporters' constant questions, the personnel at the Administrative Office could only shout out!

"Our leaders are currently discussing this inside the office, and I believe there will be a result soon!"

"Please rest assured, citizens and media, we will definitely resolve anything that threatens our Jianghai City citizens perfectly!"

Inside the Administrative Office, in the conference room.

Leaders of all ranks from Jianghai City were present, and Mayor Lin looked at everyone.

"Time is tight now... I'll get straight to the point. That lion pride was smuggled out of a circus. Someone accidentally opened the sealed transport vehicle in Yangguan Village, which is why the tragic scene in the video occurred."

"Ah, so that terrifying lion pride is actually real!"

"That's despicable! We must eliminate these lions; we absolutely cannot let this pride enter Jianghai City!"

Although lions are protected animals, with the body size and intelligence of wild animals gradually increasing, the regulation of protecting animals has gradually been forgotten.

What's more, this pride had cruelly killed and devoured dozens of elderly people; they could absolutely not be let off!

Mayor Lin nodded. "The lion pride must be eliminated... But have you noticed in the video that after those lions ate our humans, their bodies were gradually becoming stronger..."

"The most obvious one is that golden male lion. Analysis shows its body length has reached eight meters, and its weight is at least in the three-ton range! Especially that last roar, which was actually able to directly affect the humans in the helicopter at an altitude of over two thousand meters..."

"This mutated golden male lion, just like the Prehistoric White-Feathered Great Eagle outside Jianghai City, possesses power that transcends our human understanding..."

"What we need to figure out now is that this golden male lion only mutated rapidly after eating our humans. What exactly caused this..."

"If human flesh can really cause animals to evolve rapidly... then it will be the end for us humans!"

Suddenly, the conference room fell silent, tense to the point of suffocation...
