126: Chapter 126 Emergency Transfer: From Safe House to Mobile Fortress

Wang Lei's betrayal was like a jarring alarm, completely shattering the relative tranquility of the "Zhulong" safe house.

When Long Zhantian obtained concrete evidence and realized that the risk of Lin Mo's identity being exposed had soared to a level that could not be ignored, he did not hesitate and immediately activated the highest-level contingency plan.

In the dead of night, the warning lights inside the safe house abruptly turned from the serene blue representing normalcy to a glaring red, and a low-pitched alarm echoed through the confined space.

Lin Mo looked up from his engrossing design work, a flash of understanding crossing his eyes, but he felt no panic. He had long understood that this day would come sooner or later.

Almost at the same time the alarm sounded, the safe house's internal communications were forcibly intercepted. Long Zhantian's stern face appeared on the screen, and without any pleasantries, he issued the order directly:

"Lin Mo, identity exposure risk confirmed, level 'Extinction'. Execute the 'Peregrine Falcon' evacuation procedure. Encrypt and upload all personal research data to the cloud immediately, and destroy the physical storage media locally. Within five minutes, carry necessary items to Emergency Exit No. 3. Repeat, this is not a drill."

"Understood." Lin Mo's response was concise and forceful.

He acted immediately, his fingers dancing rapidly across the virtual interface, uploading all design data regarding the planetary defense system via a quantum secret channel to the "Fuxi" core database, while simultaneously initiating the physical destruction procedure for his workstation and storage devices.

After a barely audible hum and a faint smell of scorching, all local traces were completely wiped. He only picked up his personal quantum communication terminal and a few personal items.

At Emergency Exit No. 3, a secret door that had originally blended into the wall slid open silently.

Outside the door was not the brightly lit corridor he had imagined, but a narrow, downward-sloping metal passage that could only accommodate one person, emitting a cold mixture of engine oil and disinfectant.

Two members of the operations team, fully encased in black tactical gear with masks covering their faces, stood like statues on either side. Upon seeing Lin Mo, they merely nodded slightly, and one of them handed over a lightweight respirator.

"Engineer Lin, please follow me; the passage has been switched to an independent oxygen supply." A low voice came through the mask, carrying unquestionable professionalism.

Lin Mo put on the respirator and followed one of the team members into the passage. The secret door behind them closed silently, completely isolating the safe house.

The passage was dimly lit, with only the sensor lights underfoot turning on in sequence as they walked. They descended several dozen meters, passed through two more directional turns and identity verifications, and finally arrived at a small, concealed underground lifting platform.

The platform activated and rose steadily. When the gate opened again, Lin Mo found himself in a corner of an otherwise ordinary-looking underground parking lot, filled with various pipes and equipment.

And parked in front of him was not some luxury car, but a vehicle that looked completely unremarkable, almost indistinguishable from the heavy box trucks commonly seen on the streets.

But how could anything prepared by Long Zhantian be an ordinary vehicle?

"This is 'fortress-1'," said the operations team leader responsible for the extraction, a lean and capable man codenamed "Shanxiao," as he pulled open the side door of the vehicle, his tone carrying a hint of pride.

"Built with special bulletproof materials and a reinforced chassis, it can withstand conventional rocket attacks. The interior integrates an independent life support system (including air circulation, water purification, and emergency medical care), a 'Jinwu' micro-fusion power unit, a 'Mozi' quantum communication relay, a full-band signal shielding layer, and a passive defense system (smoke grenades, tire spikes, sonic dispersal devices). If necessary, the cargo compartment can detach from the cab and move a short distance using a pre-installed emergency propulsion system."

The interior space of the vehicle was far more spacious than it appeared from the outside, reasonably divided into a rest area, a work area, and a driving monitoring area. The workstation was equipped with an encrypted terminal directly connected to "fuxi," and the surrounding walls featured wrap-around surveillance screens that displayed real-time 360-degree views around the vehicle and various sensor data.

"Your safety is now our responsibility," "Shanxiao" signaled for Lin Mo to enter. "We will move irregularly, with routes planned in real-time by 'system' to avoid all fixed surveillance points and potential threat areas. Until absolute safety is confirmed or a new suitable base is found, this will be your mobile fortress and new workstation."

Lin Mo stepped into the vehicle, and the heavy door closed and locked behind him. All external sounds were completely cut off, leaving only the low hum of equipment running. He looked at this space that was small but fully equipped, feeling no great fear despite being in danger, but rather a strange sense of stability.

He sat down at the workstation, pulled up the design interface for the planetary defense system again, and nodded to "Shanxiao": "Let's go. My work cannot stop."

The engine of 'fortress-1' emitted a low, steady roar as it slowly drove out of the underground parking lot and merged into the endless stream of traffic in the city night, like a drop of water merging into the ocean, beginning its journey of mobile protection.
