183: Chapter 183 Armored Lightsaber Blocking the Door, A Dead End
Musk turned around immediately and walked over to the backup encrypted communication terminal hidden beside the fireplace, his fingers swiping rapidly across the screen as he pulled up the activation commands for several heavy weapon stockpiles he had previously deployed on the outskirts of Mar-a-Lago.
He had just brought up an interface,
when an extremely faint sound of footsteps, resembling flowing water gliding across a metal surface, came from the end of the corridor.
Diana Hopkins walked in.
The surface of the silver armor she wore was not made of hard metal plates,
but rather a flowing layer resembling liquid metal, smoothly flowing along her shoulders, arms, and waistline at an extremely slow speed every second.
The armor itself formed an extremely streamlined yet sharp-angled armor plate outline on her shoulders and chest, with the surface covered in an extremely faint dark silver cold light,
Dozens of warhead fragments that had not fully bounced off yet embedded themselves into the metal fluid layer, bobbing up and down layer by layer within the armor's liquid layer.
Her right hand grasped a light sword,
The blade was neither laser nor plasma, but rather a scorching pillar of light with an extremely high color temperature and nearly pure white, its end precisely controlled by a magnetic confinement field within a perfect and lethal cutting cone surface.
After walking into the center of the banquet hall, her faceplate automatically dissipated to both sides, revealing the cold and nearly indifferent face beneath.
She glanced around at Prant, Edward, and Musk, her tone flat and cold, like she was stating an execution order that had already passed all approval stages.
"Last time, at Hoover Dam, you managed to escape by a fluke."
"I wonder if this time, you can still rely on a few tubes of liquid zero to grow back out from beneath this light sword."
Edward gently straightened the wine glass that had slipped onto the tabletop, stood up straight, and let his hands hang at his sides with his ten fingers slightly spread.
His tone remained steady, but the pause between every single word was nearly twice as long as usual.
"Diana, you are now acting as an agent for the Longevity Faction."
"The Longevity Faction gave you weapons, gave you the light sword in your hand that can cut off the regeneration program of liquid zero."
"They want to take advantage of tonight to wipe the few of us out from this room together, and by the way help Biden eliminate Prant."
"But don't forget, back on the ruins of Warehouse 18, officials from the Longevity Faction and the Tech Faction appeared at the same time, and your Longevity Faction did not gain the upper hand."
Musk stepped forward to block in front of Prant, his tone still maintaining the calmness of an engineer, but his speech was extremely fast:
"If you kill Prant, Biden's reelection will have one less obstacle."
"And then?"
"The Tech Faction's plan to deploy the Space Jump Gate and Black Hole Bomb will not stop because of this."
"When Grey Alien' million-strong fleet is blown to pieces, which side do you plan to stand on by then?"
"The Longevity Faction gave you a piece of armor and a light sword, while the Tech Faction gives you the admission ticket to colonize the entire new star system."
"If you kill me now, it is equivalent to burning your own only VIP ticket to the cosmic era."
Prant stood behind Musk, the iodine traces on the gauze of his right ear gleaming with a dim yellow light under the chandelier.
He looked into Diana's eyes, which were so cold they hardly carried any human body temperature, without any retreat.
His tone did not have the fear that anyone should have when first facing a weapon that could cut off liquid zero,
but rather resembled the calmness on a negotiating table after seeing the opponent flip over their trump card and finally confirming the distribution of all chips.
"You came here tonight, surely not just to settle old scores with Edward, Musk, and this Long Live Alliance."
"You are here for Biden."
"Among the dirt I leaked, the only thing that truly stepped on his fragile nerve was his youngest son, Hunter."
At this moment, before Diana could speak, another voice slowly came from deep within the corridor, moving from far to near.
Joseph Biden's leather shoes stepped on the corridor floor mixed with broken glass and bullet casing debris, making a steady and rhythmic sound.
Behind him followed a group of enhanced Giant Warriors, all over three meters tall,
every gigantic body casting a huge projection under the corridor's emergency red light, swallowing all the phantom remnants of shattered photo frames and crooked wall lamps on the walls on both sides into its own massive outline.
These Giant Warriors were all elites injected with the Behemoth Factor.
Ever since Zhang Long handed those two vials of primitive serums to Diana last time, the Hopkins Family had been fully capable of independently replicating and mass-producing the Behemoth Factor.
At this moment, those giants filed from the corridor into the banquet hall, easily tearing any remaining armed guards attempting to block their way into pieces one by one like dismantling building blocks.
Biden walked to Diana's side and came to a halt.
In those aged, grey-blue eyes, there was no confusion, hesitation, or fear, only a layer of cold, ironclad resolve that finally burst forth after being churned into a boiling volcano by days of scandals and the shooting incident.
"So what if it is?"
"Prant, don't you think you've gone too far?"
"Using my son as a target, do you think I am made of clay!"
Prant stood behind Musk, looking directly at Biden across the shoulder line of two Men in Black bodyguards,
his tone remaining level, but without a shred of the high-pitched passion from his campaign rally earlier, instead being as cold as a blade just pulled out of a freezer.
"Too far? I was just putting together some breaking news leaks."
"If we're really talking about going too far, the person who sent gunmen to assassinate me is the one who's truly going too far!"
Biden put his hands behind his back, raising his chin slightly, his aged eyes—which had once been cried red in the Oval Office and were now completely dry—staring fixedly at Prant without blinking.
When he answered, there was no longer any modification of political talking points or diplomatic language in his tone, leaving only a layer of grim and focused ferocity after all scruples were stripped away.
"No more needless talk, Prant."
"You are the person the Longevity Faction is destined to eliminate."
"Don't blame me for being ruthless, today you are destined not to survive!"
Prant, Edward, and Musk exchanged a glance.
As for those Giant Warriors, it wasn't that they were completely helpless against them,
Musk's infrasound weapon had briefly worked the last time they faced the Behemoth Factor,
as long as the infrasound array was deployed to cover the entire banquet hall, it could at least temporarily drive back those three-meter-tall enhanced monsters.
But Diana was different.
That fluid armor couldn't even be penetrated by close-range buckshot, and that light sword could even completely disable the regeneration program of liquid zero.
And now they were trapped in this banquet hall, unable to use any heavy weapons that required advance deployment.
She was an agent of the Longevity Faction, and they themselves were people of the Tech Faction; the two sides were mortal enemies locked in an irreconcilable struggle to the death.
Surrounded in this banquet hall at this moment, it seemed impossible to find any second path other than a fight to the death.
Biden did not give them time to continue thinking of countermeasures.
He raised a hand and made a crisp, downward-cutting gesture to those Giant Warriors.
"Send them to meet God."
