517: Endless despair!
Netherworld Supreme laughed heartily, but his laughter was cruel, filled with boundless malice!
Silence returned to the darkness, as if even the air had frozen. After a long while, Netherworld Supreme's mocking voice slowly came through:
"Hehehe, since you already know I Cultivate the Unfeeling Path, do you know what I hate most in my life?"
His voice seemed calm, but within his words lay an extreme, deep-seated anger, like a dormant beast ready to pounce and tear someone to shreds.
The man did not respond. He seemed to disdain communicating with the voice before him, merely staring coldly in the direction from which the voice came, his eyes filled with undisguised killing intent, as if he wanted to kill the existence in the darkness with his gaze!
"Hahahaha, good... very good!"
Netherworld Supreme's voice suddenly rose, tinged with a hint of madness:
"I, Netherworld Supreme, fell here countless years ago. A wisp of my remnant soul survived, trapped here for millions of years. I finally awaited a Legacy, hoping to escape, but I never expected it to be like this!"
"I'll tell you, what I hate most in my life is love! Whether it's family affection, romantic love, or even friendship, I hate them all to the bone! In the billions of territories I ruled in my lifetime, such things were absolutely not allowed to exist. Under the influence of my Supreme Immortal of Unfeeling Path, there was only extreme... unfeeling among all people!"
"But I didn't expect that my first Legacy after my fall would be a person of utmost emotion and faith. If those people saw this, it would truly be a huge joke!"
He paused, his tone carrying a hint of mockery:
"I give you two choices. Either, you personally sever your emotions and obtain my Legacy. I want to see what kind of variables a person of utmost emotion and faith will produce when they obtain the fortune of the Supreme Immortal of Unfeeling Path."
"Or..."
Netherworld Supreme's tone instantly became incredibly playful, like a cat toying with a mouse:
"Or, I'll let your sister inherit my Legacy and have her personally slay you, hahahaha... Interesting, this idea is truly extremely interesting..."
The laughter echoed in the darkness, cruel and malicious, filled with boundless evil. This was a complete and utter madman!
When the man heard this, it was as if he had been struck by five bolts of lightning, and a huge wave of despair instantly enveloped him.
His body trembled violently, his teeth grinding until they shattered, his hands clenched into fists so tightly that his bones cracked, and his fingernails dug deep into his palms, blood dripping between his fingers.
The first choice, to have him personally sever his emotions, would be more painful than killing him. He would never choose it!
The second choice, to have Ling'er personally slay him, was simply a heart-wrenching act. Moreover, he was intimately familiar with the pain of this ten-thousand-year purgatory. He would rather be completely annihilated than let Ling'er be tainted by such sin and suffering.
Netherworld Supreme seemed to see through his thoughts and continued:
"Don't doubt my ability. Although I only have a wisp of a remnant soul left, bringing your sister into this Legacy is as easy as turning over a hand. How about it? Choose."
The man felt dizzy, and his vision went black.
Both choices led to an abyss. He felt like he was hanging from a cliff, with endless darkness below him. No matter which way he went, it would be complete annihilation.
Despair surged like a tide, threatening to drown his sanity.
He could no longer maintain his composure. With a "thud," he knelt on the ground, kowtowing repeatedly towards the darkness, then pleaded:
"Please, spare Ling'er!"
His voice was hoarse and broken, with a crying tone:
"I'll do anything, I'll give you my life, just please..."
His forehead repeatedly struck the cold ground, quickly becoming a bloody mess, the blood staining the ground red.
But he seemed to feel no pain, still kowtowing frantically, even beginning to self-mutilate, directly severing his arm with a sword. He had no choice, only hoping that Netherworld Supreme would spare Ling'er:
"I'm willing to die, I'll die for you now, just please let Ling'er live well..."
However, the more he did this, the more heartily Netherworld Supreme laughed:
"Hahahaha... Delightful, truly delightful!"
The laughter was filled with a morbid pleasure:
"Hmm... I just love to see you like this. The more you suffer, the happier I am. I never thought that after millions of years of death, I could still enjoy such a pleasant performance. Delightful!"
At this point, a dark energy suddenly rushed into the man's Physical Body, instantly healing all his injuries, and then Netherworld Supreme changed his tone!
"Suicide is useless. If you commit suicide and spoil my enjoyment of this good show, believe me, you will absolutely regret it."
"You only have these two choices. I'll give you three more breaths. If you don't choose, I'll choose for you. Do you think I can't control your body and make you personally dismember your beloved sister, slice by slice, until she dies?"
"Three..."
Netherworld Supreme began to count down, each word like a heavy hammer, striking hard at the man's heart.
His body trembled even more violently, his eyes bloodshot. Despair, like a vine, tightly entwined his heart, almost suffocating him.
"Two..."
The countdown continued, and the man's mind was blank, only Ling'er's innocent smiling face remaining.
How he wished he could go back to the past, to the time when he could protect his sister carefree. But now, he didn't even have the right to protect her.
At the moment the final "one" was about to be uttered, the man suddenly raised his head, the light in his eyes completely extinguished, leaving only a deathly stillness.
He had made his choice. He chose the second option, to let his sister personally slay him.
At this moment, his heart had already died.
There is no greater sorrow than a dead heart, but his emotions at this moment were countless times more intense than a dead heart.
Some people are alive, but already dead... "Hahahaha... You just need to bring her over, and I will bring her in, hahahahahahaha!!!"
The mad laughter suddenly vanished.
His figure appeared out of thin air outside the ruins. He looked up and saw the Bloodcloth Hall Elder who had sent him into the ruins earlier.
When the Elder saw him, his heart trembled. What kind of eyes were those?
Hollow, numb, without any light, like two bottomless ancient wells, containing only endless darkness and deathly stillness, as if nothing in the world could stir the slightest ripple in his heart.
When he returned home, Ling'er was still waiting for him as usual. As soon as he entered the door, Ling'er, like a happy little bird, pounced on him and sweetly called out:
"Brother, I worked very hard today, I've been Cultivating and haven't been lazy at all!"
