66: Chapter 66 Array Programming
Chapter 66 Technological Explosion: Array Programming and Rune Compiler
That finger did not point down with power, but with rules.
It was a fulcrum that pried open the time balance of the entire "Godfall Battlefield."
"BOOM—!!!"
There was no sound.
This deafening noise was a collective auditory hallucination in the depths of the souls of the three hundred players present.
All the slaughter accumulated here over hundreds of millions of years, all the fragments of laws scattered when gods and demons fell, all the ownerless divine abilities and curses, found an outlet for release in this instant.
They were forcibly awakened by the causal decree of "Obsession," coalescing into an indescribable, irresistible torrent of destruction, sweeping toward the small patch of "present" where the vanguard was located!
The first to collapse was [Holy Light Hunk].
"Holy Shield!!"
He roared, thrusting his greatsword into the ground, his brilliant golden armor radiating immense light, and a massive light shield as thick and solid as a mountain rose from the ground.
This shield had once withstood the concentrated magical fire of the Chen Family Cultivators during the "Ancestral Hall Defense Battle" and had purified swathes of demonic creatures on the Demon Land.
However, the moment it touched that "torrent," the light shield didn't even ripple; like an ice cube thrown into a star, it was silently and completely decomposed, evaporated, and erased, starting from every single light particle that composed it.
[Holy Light Hunk] was struck as if by lightning, spitting out a mouthful of golden blood, his armor cracking inch by inch, and for the first time, his eyes revealed shock.
His path of "Holy Light" was as fragile as a child's prayer in the face of the higher-ranked "Echoes of the Gods."
"Plague Domain! Touch of Decay!"
On the other side, [Plague Knight - Zero]'s reaction was completely different.
He did not choose to resist head-on, but instead transformed himself into a writhing shadow, where dense demonic energy and plague power intertwined into a gray "Death Domain," attempting to "pollute" and "assimilate" the torrent.
However, as the torrent passed, his domain was like ink washed away by a high-pressure water gun, instantly wiped clean.
He groaned, his figure stumbling out of the shadows, the demonic energy swirling around him thinning by thirty percent.
"It won't work... The information density is too high... My 'virus' cannot parse it and was directly overloaded!" His voice was hoarse, carrying a rare hint of frustration.
A conventional tank cannot hold it.
The eerie path cannot resolve it.
The combat system that the players prided themselves on was a joke in the face of the aftermath of a real "God War."
Panic spread like the plague.
More than a dozen players attempted to flee in all directions, but the moment they stepped out of the safe zone, they were swept by a residual shadow of black lightning frozen in the air, and along with their equipment, screams, and system notifications, they were turned into nothingness.
Complete annihilation.
Not even the 72-hour resurrection countdown was triggered.
The rules here once again refreshed the lower limits of the players' cognition.
"Don't move! Stay where you are!!" [Demolition Office Director] was furious, his eyes splitting; he wanted to rush, but didn't know where to rush to;
he wanted to fight, but couldn't even understand the enemy's attack form.
This sense of powerlessness was even more desperate than facing the Demon Lord's [Heavenly Demon Blood Sacrifice Grand Array].
Just amidst this solidified despair, one person's scream seemed so out of place.
"Holy shit! Holy shit! So that's it! That's it!!!"
It was [Outlaw Zhang San].
He did not look at the golden skeleton slowly raising its hand, nor did he look at the sweeping torrent of destruction capable of leveling everything.
He stared fixedly at his "Space Stabilizer," which was already crazily smoking and about to be scrapped.
On the instrument's core crystal, there were no longer stable spatial beacons, but rather fragments of runes, flashing by, washed out by a massive stream of information!
Those residual shadows came from the attacks of gods and demons within the torrent.
A sword qi's core was a [Sharp Metal] rune, followed by a series of [Wind Walk] and [Divine Sense] runes for acceleration, penetration, and locking.
A ball of demonic fire was essentially a [Separation Fire] rune, attached with dozens of vicious "variables" such as [Corrosion], [Curse], and [Soul Burning]!
"It's not an attack! It's a piece of code! A piece of 'code' that is currently executing!"
Zhang San's eyes were bloodshot but terrifyingly bright; he seemed to have seen a treasure left behind by the gods.
"That skeleton is not a BOSS! It's a programmer! It just pressed the 'Enter key'! It executed a program that had already been written, called 'Clear Field'!"
"Speak human!" [Demolition Office Director] was going crazy.
"We can't block the code, but we can make it error out! Make it... 'debug'!"
Zhang San pushed aside the burnt instrument and rushed to the center of the team; his combat power, which was approximately Zero, made him look like a madman.
"Throw out all your basic runes! Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, Earth! Wind, Lightning, Light, Dark, Poison! All of them! Don't worry about the grade! Don't worry about the attributes! What I need is not energy, but 'logic'!"
He roared at the top of his lungs.
The players were stunned.
At a time like this, throw runes?
"Believe him, damn it! Throw them!" [Demolition Office Director] was still the quickest to react; he was the first to dump all the messy runes he had accumulated in his backpack onto the ground.
With someone taking the lead, although the others were full of doubts, the instinct to survive made them choose to obey.
In an instant, hundreds of colorful, varying-grade runes were thrown onto the ground, emitting a faint glow.
"Not enough! Not enough logic gates!" Zhang San scanned them, his speaking speed as fast as a burst of bullets. "[Holy Light Hunk]! Use your holy light to draw a circle on the ground! This isn't defense; this is a 'domain'! All calculations must be completed within this circle!"
"[Zero]! Use your demonic energy to draw a straight line inside the circle to divide it in two! This is a 'conditional statement'! The left side is 'IF', and the right side is 'ELSE'!"
"All those with [Thick Earth] runes! Throw them to the left side of the circle! This is the 'WHILE' that constructs the 'loop body'!"
"All those with [Sharp Metal] runes! Throw them to the right! That is the 'BREAK' that 'cuts off' the loop!"
"[Flowing Water] and [Wind Walk] are data streams! Responsible for 'parameter passing'! Put them on the outermost perimeter!"
Crazy.
Everyone thought Zhang San was crazy.
But [Holy Light Hunk] and [Zero] exchanged a glance and actually chose to act simultaneously.
One represented "purification," and the other represented "erosion," but at this moment, under Zhang San's command, they used their respective powers to draw a strange, divided "Holy-Demonic Taiji Diagram" on the ground.
The other players also mechanically threw the corresponding runes into the designated positions according to Zhang San's instructions.
They didn't understand what code was, but they could read Chinese characters and distinguish left from right.
A messy, chaotic "array" composed of holy light, demonic energy, and hundreds of low-grade runes was hastily formed one second before the torrent of destruction arrived.
Then, the torrent capable of causing gods to fall slammed into it.
There was no earth-shattering explosion.
A strange scene occurred.
A golden flame containing the laws of "Sun True Fire," the moment it rushed into the "array," was wrapped by the [Flowing Water] runes on the perimeter; its violent energy was defined as a "data packet" and then distortedly transmitted into the "IF" area on the left.
The "loop body" composed of [Thick Earth] runes immediately began to operate, continuously executing the instructions of "parse, weaken, and parse again."
When this energy, weakened by ninety percent, flowed to the "ELSE" area on the right, the "BREAK" instruction composed of [Sharp Metal] runes was triggered.
With a soft "poof."
The Sun True Fire, capable of melting divine iron, had its connection to the laws "cut off" just like that, turning into a harmless, warm breeze that dissipated in the air.
Immediately after, a drop of pitch-black demonic blood containing the "Eternal Night Curse" dripped down.
This time, it was judged to enter the "ELSE" area on the right.
The [Sharp Metal] rune array began to cut crazily, stripping away the concept of "curse" within it, while the remaining pure demonic energy was guided by the demonic energy line drawn by [Zero] and directly absorbed.
Streams of divine sword qi, demonic breaths, law storms...
poured into this ridiculously simple "compiler."
They were like lines of code, crazily parsed, judged, split, reorganized, or directly defined as "null" by this temporary "debug program"...
The players stared dumbfounded at this strange scene before them.
Earth-destroying attacks, like docile sheep, were resolved one by one by this simple program composed of junk runes.
Although every time an attack was resolved, several low-grade runes would exhaust their energy and shatter, the players in the back immediately replenished them.
They seemed to have found a brand new "methodology" capable of countering this world.
In the distance, in the hollow eye sockets of the golden skeleton, two points of soul fire that were about to extinguish flickered violently.
Its "program" received an "execution error" return code for the first time.
Its raised finger trembled slightly, as if it had fallen into an incomprehensible "logical infinite loop."
The endless torrent of destruction borrowed from the long river of time was also interrupted.
The crisis was temporarily resolved.
The three hundred members of the vanguard survived.
Everyone slumped to the ground, gasping for breath, the relief of surviving a disaster making their limbs weak.
And [Outlaw Zhang San], as if he had seen a peerless treasure, threw himself in front of that messy "compiler" made of runes, his eyes flashing with obsession and fanaticism.
"So that's it... So that's it! Arrays are not drawing! It's programming! It's the most advanced 'energy programming language' in the world!"
He carefully picked up a broken [Sharp Metal] rune and then picked up an intact [Separation Fire] rune.
"If... if I attach the 'cut off' instruction to the definition of 'fire'... and then use 'loop' to repeat it ten thousand times..."
His hands began to combine different runes together in a strange rhythm.
A brand new, compact "module" composed of a dozen or so low-grade runes was created.
He gently placed this module on the ground and injected a negligible amount of spiritual power as a "start instruction."
Hum—!
That rune module suddenly lit up.
The next second, ten thousand mini sword qi made of pure fire, carrying cutting attributes, spewed out from the module, like a red torrent, instantly cutting a frozen mountain in the distance, piled up from the corpses of demonic creatures, into the finest powder.
That power, that scene...
In the minds of all the players, four words involuntarily appeared.
Ten Thousand Swords Return to Origin!
Although it was a fire version, with power shrunk countless times, a knock-off of a knock-off.
But it was indeed achieved!
The whole scene was deathly silent.
Immediately after, there was a sensation like a volcanic eruption.
The way the players looked at [Outlaw Zhang San] changed.
It was no longer looking at a tech geek, but like looking at a... "God" who had opened up a whole new era.
And Zhang San just stared obsessively at the "rune module" in his hand, murmuring to himself:
"I need a more efficient platform... a graphical interface... an 'open-source community' that allows all players to participate..."
"The ancestors' system must have this interface..."
He raised his head, his gaze crossing the devastated battlefield, looking toward the depths of that frozen time and space.
The "Time Anchor" was still important.
But now, they had a key that could unlock all the "puzzles" of this world.
The era of technological explosion, from this moment, arrived ahead of schedule.
