425: Chapter 425 Chen Wuwang Unleashes His Power, and the Situation Gradually Turns Around
The gray mist churned like a boiling pot of oil, the scent of blood boring into everyone's noses. The sandy ground had long been soaked in blood; stepping down would squeeze out red pulp.
Chen Wuwang stood inside the cockpit of the "eye of wuwang." Arcs of electricity still sparked from the cracks on the left arm, and the energy bar remained at 78%, neither increasing nor decreasing.
On the rocky platform opposite him, the Ghost-Faced Man raised his scepter, and the remnants of the black-robed men slowly gathered.
Seven or eight people stood crookedly, but their eyes were fierce, like starving wild dogs.
The communication channel was dead silent, filled only with static noise. The warriors who had been shouting battle cries just moments ago were now even suppressing the sound of their breathing.
Seven dead, twelve heavily wounded, and three mechas blown into heaps of scrap metal. No one spoke, yet everyone understood—if they couldn't hold out any longer, they would all meet their end here.
"Head of the Family..." a young pilot's voice trembled from the back row, "The left-wing shield group only has two units left, we can't fill the gap..."
Chen Wuwang didn't reply. He stared at the damage report transmitted by his Mechanical Prosthetic Eye; three runes on the left arm joint were broken, and power transmission efficiency had dropped by 12%.
It didn't affect the engine, it didn't affect propulsion, and it certainly didn't affect killing.
It was enough.
His right hand swiped across the control panel, entering a string of secret codes.
The System popped up a red warning box: [Super Mode activation will lead to core overload, Risk Level: Fatal].
"To hell with fatal." He grinned and pressed his finger down hard.
“Buzz—!”
The entire "eye of wuwang" jolted violently. The dormant runes on the hull's surface lit up instantly, blue-white light exploding along the patterns like living thunder snakes.
The six folding wings on the back snapped open. Spiritual energy and plasma surged together, blasting out a shockwave that sent the sand and stones within ten meters flying.
The ground was scorched into blackened pits by the high temperature. In the distance, several enemies who had just poked their heads out were flipped by the air current and tumbled down the rock wall.
"Fuck! What is that?!"
"He's moving! The Head of the Family is moving!"
"Look! The mecha... the mecha has changed!"
Inside the cockpit, the gravity suddenly surged to four times its normal strength.
Chen Wuwang clenched his teeth, the veins on his forehead bulging, but his eyes were terrifyingly bright.
The engine power tripled, and the energy readings jumped frantically, surging from 78% all the way to 93% before slowly settling back into a stable range.
"Super Mode, activated."
He raised his right arm and the Laser Sword recharged. The blade was no longer a single beam of light, but was entwined with high-frequency oscillating arcs of electricity, the humming sound piercing enough to make eardrums ache.
"Those of you still alive, keep your eyes wide open and watch!" he roared into the communication channel. "Today, I'm not talking about tactics or cooperation—I'm going to teach them the meaning of crushing power!"
Before his voice had even faded, the "eye of wuwang" kicked off the ground violently. The earth shattered as the mecha soared into the sky like a cannonball.
The propulsion wings deployed, carving an arc in a short-range flight path that bypassed ground tripwires and trap zones, lunging straight for the enemy's central hub.
"Stop him!" the Ghost-Faced Man roared on the rock platform. With a wave of his scepter, three black-robed men immediately leaped out, forming a triangular formation. Their runic long-axes crossed as they raised them, and a spiritual energy barrier instantly materialized.
"Starfall Slash!"
Chen Wuwang gave a low shout. The Laser Sword oscillated at high frequency to its limit, a point of blindingly intense light condensing at the tip. In the next instant, the entire sword transformed into a falling star, crashing down with a roar!
“Crack!”
The barrier didn't even last a second before it shattered completely.
The three black-robed men didn't even have time to scream before they were torn to shreds by the Sword Qi. A rain of blood splattered against the rock wall, painting three crimson diagonal lines.
The core node of the runic formation was right behind the barrier. Before it could be detonated, it was split down the middle by this single strike.
The explosion occurred only locally, bursting into a man-sized fireball that didn't even shake the rock wall.
"It's destroyed! The self-destruct formation is broken!"
"My god... is the Head of the Family even human?!"
"Don't just stand there! Cover him with fire!"
The heavy mechas in the rear responded immediately, their barrels swiveling in unison toward the rock crevices on both sides as they poured out a dense barrage of fire.
Incendiary rounds, armor-piercing shells, and concussive grenades took turns on the field, forcing the enemies hiding in high places to keep their heads down.
The melee group moved as well. A veteran with a blood-stained face kicked aside a piece of wreckage blocking the way and roared, "What are you waiting for? Follow the Head of the Family and kill!"
"Kill!!!"
"Kill all these bastards!"
Over thirty mechas still capable of fighting advanced simultaneously, shields in front and barrels lowered, forming a three-sided pincer movement that pressed toward the enemy's final stronghold.
The Ghost-Faced Man stood at the edge of the cliff, with no path of retreat left behind him.
He looked down at his scepter; the spiritual light at its tip was dim, clearly exhausted of power by the previous strike.
He snapped his head up to look at the slowly approaching "eye of wuwang," his voice raspy: "You... shouldn't be this strong... this isn't normal..."
Chen Wuwang stood before the mecha's external shoulder speaker, his voice as cold as ice: "Normal? I'll tell you what's normal—taking over as Head of the Family at twenty-eight and watching my clansmen being gnawed into bones by insects on the very first day; rebuilding the Artifact Refining Workshop at thirty-eight and seeing my disciples blown into shredded meat with my own eyes; ruling the Eastern Desolation at forty-six, only to have my subordinates played like chess pieces one by one."
He paused, a red light flashing in his Mechanical Prosthetic Eye: "You say I'm not normal? From the moment I stepped into this Cultivation World, I never intended to be fucking normal!"
The "eye of wuwang" took a sudden step forward, the ground shaking and gravel tumbling down the cliff.
"Now, you've reached the end of your road."
"Fire arrows! Use the poison spears! Fight to the death!" the Ghost-Faced Man shrieked. His five remaining subordinates frantically threw their weapons; poison darts, corrosive spears, and explosive talismans filled the air.
Chen Wuwang sneered. Controlling the mecha's right arm, he swung the Laser Sword. The blade light was like a wall, striking down every single ranged attack.
Immediately after, he kicked off the ground. The mecha pounced like a tiger, charging straight at the last few people.
One black-robed man had just raised a dagger when he was cut in half by the Sword Qi; another tried to flee but was flipped by the propulsion wing's air current and fell off the cliff; the third had just begun to chant a spell when his head was sliced off.
In the blink of an eye, only the Ghost-Faced Man remained standing alone, his scepter falling to the ground with a crisp clang.
"Please... I... spare..." His lips trembled, his knees buckling slightly.
"Spare?" Chen Wuwang shook his head. "When you slaughtered thirty-seven people in Zhao Village last month, why didn't you think about begging for mercy? When you sent people to plant bombs in the Artifact Refining Workshop last week, why weren't you afraid of death?"
He raised the Laser Sword, pointing the tip at the Ghost-Faced Man's throat: "Begging now is too late."
"Wait! I... I can..."
"Shut up."
A flash of sword light.
A head flew up, the body stood frozen for two seconds, then slumped to the ground.
The entire field suddenly fell silent.
The wind carried the gray mist across the battlefield, and residual fires crackled. Mecha wreckage emitted black smoke, and blood flowed down the slope, merging into a dark red stream.
"We won?" someone asked in a small voice.
"Head of the Family... are they all dead?"
"Did we really... win the battle?"
Chen Wuwang stood on the shoulder of the "eye of wuwang," looking down over the entire valley.
Enemy corpses were scattered everywhere; some were cut in two, some were charred to cinders, and some had fallen down the cliff, leaving only half a body hanging in the rock crevices.
Though their own casualties were heavy, the defensive line hadn't broken, and morale was beginning to recover.
"We haven't won," he said in a low voice, yet his words reached the entire field through the amplifier. "This is only the beginning."
He turned to face his own warriors: "I will remember those who died today. I will take care of those who were injured. I will build new mechas for those that were destroyed. But one thing—"
He raised his Laser Sword, pointing the tip toward the sky: "In the future, whoever dares to target the Chen Family, I won't wait for them to make a move—I'll strike their door first! I don't care about rules, I don't care about reason; I only care about one word—Kill!"
"Kill!!!"
"Kill!!!"
"Kill!!!"
The remaining warriors, their eyes bloodshot, raised their weapons, their roars echoing through the valley.
Chen Wuwang retracted his sword and jumped back into the cockpit. The energy reading dropped from 93% to 62%, the hull had multiple burns, and the cracks on the left arm had widened, but the core was undamaged.
He sat in the pilot's seat and took a deep breath, looking toward the last blind spot at the bottom of the cliff. There was still a faint movement there, as if someone was crawling.
"It's not over yet," he muttered. "The leader hasn't been caught, the mastermind hasn't been dug out... this play has only just reached its climax."
He gripped the control stick, and the engine roared once more.
