79: Chapter 79 Offending a Group First

The next day, in the front courtyard of the Governors Mansion, the convoy returning from the raids formed a long line.

Yuri Razumov held the list and read it out with great gusto.

However, Fu Haoran had no interest in it; it was nothing but mundane items, making him feel drowsy.

Just as Fu Haoran was about to fall asleep, he heard Yuri read: "The final item is the household slaves, dancers, concubines, and lovers kept by the rebellious Hive Nobles, totaling 13,458 people!"

Fu Haoran was instantly wide awake: "Ahem, Yuri, these girls are all suffering souls. Have them all come over; I need to pick a few... pfft, I mean, offer my condolences."

Yuri showed a knowing smile that every man understands, then removed those who were too old, and those who were too young... never mind, what if his Governor had a preference for that?

Not long after, a group of women walked down.

Long legs, slender waists, blonde hair, brown hair, wearing sheer fabrics, wrapped in silk—all kinds of styles, all kinds of skin tones, filling the entire courtyard.

The flash of pale thighs was dizzying.

The breathtaking curves were suffocating.

Some were cold and glamorous, some charming, some pure, some enchanting.

The Hive Nobles had been plundering for generations; their tastes were certainly comprehensive.

Fu Haoran stood on the steps, his gaze sweeping across the crowd, feeling momentarily dazzled.

Yuri leaned in and asked with a lewd grin: "Hehe, is there anyone in this batch you're satisfied with?"

Fu Haoran was silent for three seconds.

His gaze swept over a tall, blue-eyed blonde figure, then over the face of a petite and cute loli, and finally rested on the curves of a cold and glamorous older woman.

His throat moved, and just as he was about to speak, a silent figure "floated" over.

Holy crap!

Lucifer had appeared behind him at some point, her emerald eyes looking at him indifferently, her hand holding that indispensable cup of sugary soda.

Lucifer glanced at the women, her tone as flat as if she were commenting on the weather.

"Your subordinates need to reproduce; this is a reasonable allocation of resources. However..."

She glanced at Fu Haoran.

"If you keep them by your side, I will have no choice but to purge the ranks. My ally being so cheap is unacceptable."

Lucifer's tone was void of emotion, but as a man who had seen enough, alarm bells rang in Fu Haoran's heart, and his expression instantly became serious.

"Nonsense!" He waved his hand. "These are all dependents of the rebellious Hive Nobles; by law, they should be distributed to the meritorious soldiers!"

Yuri was stunned: "Huh? All of them?"

"All of them!" Fu Haoran said decisively. "Leave none behind! Am I the type of person to be greedy for beauty?"

"I am a loyal person!"

Yuri was confused at first, but after glancing at Lucifer—with her large breasts, shapely buttocks, long legs, and stunning beauty—he suddenly understood.

"Tsk tsk tsk, a poor soul hanging himself from a single tree. Nothing better to do than talk about romance."

Hearing Yuri's muttering, Fu Haoran really wanted to say that he didn't understand; this wasn't love, it was fear!

If a Necron Overlord found out her lover was cheating, would she pull out her four-meter-long greatsword and hack him to pieces?

For the sake of his own life, Fu Haoran decided to wrong his "little brother" for now; there would be plenty of time in the future.

"When I return to 2k, there will be plenty of opportunities. I must get a VIP membership at Heaven on Earth, change a new one every day, and go 365 days without repeating!"

Fu Haoran consoled himself inwardly, but his peripheral vision lingered on the most beautiful ones until they disappeared at the doorway. Only then did he withdraw his gaze and sigh silently to himself.

"If I had known, I should have sent Lucifer away!"

Although the selection process was gone, the heavy family fortune soothed Fu Haoran's heart.

"These vermin are really fat; the confiscated assets are worth 50 years of total fiscal revenue."

"With these confiscated assets, only the military batteries remain; the hole in the Tithe can be completely filled."

"Governor, how should we deal with the rebellious nobles?" Yuri asked for instructions.

Fu Haoran leaned back in his chair, his tone flat: "I am not a cruel person; I do not like slaughter."

"How about this: take all the men to mine, or sell them to the Adeptus Mechanicus, and send the women to work on factory assembly lines."

"As long as they are honest and willing to work, they will have a chance to make a comeback."

Yuri's mouth twitched, and he couldn't help but retort: "You're asking these pampered Hive Nobles who can't even tie their own shoelaces to go mining and working—what's the difference between that and killing them directly?"

"Besides, selling them to the Adeptus Mechanicus usually means they'll be turned into half-dead Servitors."

Fu Haoran didn't respond, adding silently in his heart: I haven't wiped out their nine clans; that's already benevolent enough.

As the raiding work ended, a system notification appeared:

【Main Mission Completed: Hive City Rebellion Suppression】

【Mission Rewards: Free Attribute Points +5, Full Control of Alpha Hive City, General Points +50,000, Obtained 90% Ownership of Hive City Industrial Assets】

Fu Haoran had just finished scanning the system panel when the office door was suddenly kicked open.

Count Victor rushed in, his face flushed red, and the guards behind him couldn't stop him.

"Governor, I need an explanation!"

"Why did you confiscate my family's assets?!"

Fu Haoran glanced up at him and said matter-of-factly: "First of all, that wasn't confiscation; it was an acquisition in accordance with Hive City law."

"Furthermore, nearly half of your family's core members participated in the rebellion. According to the law, the assets of a rebel's family must be fully seized."

"As for your private property, I haven't touched a single cent."

Victor almost coughed up blood; the position of family head he had been obsessed with—wasn't it exactly for the family's wealth?

With the family wealth confiscated, what was the point of having this position?

Furthermore, for him, any deal that wasn't a massive profit was a bloody loss.

"Reasonable price? What can that little bit of money do?!" Victor's voice suddenly rose.

Fu Haoran didn't take his anger seriously at all.

"Victor, what makes you think I would show you leniency? Because you coasted through the whole thing? Because you didn't participate in the rebellion?"

"I have already done my utmost for you. Don't be ungrateful; don't forget that your family was one of the main forces in the rebellion. By law, seizing all family assets and executing everyone would not be excessive. I've spared your life and protected your private property; that is the greatest mercy."

Victor's face turned from red to white, then from white to green, and then he said, word by word:

"My ancestors have lived in this Hive City for thousands of years."

"A thousand years, dozens of generations, all in that spire."

"And now you're telling me that a bunch of Underhive scum can step in?!"

Fu Haoran slowly stood up and retorted without showing any weakness: "Is that so? Does a thousand-year heritage mean eternal immortality?"

"When the Emperor unified Terra, didn't He also overthrow the hereditary nobility? In this world, there is nothing that cannot be broken."

"Or do you think that you vermin, who are full of talk about honor and bloodlines, relying on exploitation and monopolizing the Hive City, gorging yourselves until you're fat and bloated, can then tell me that you earned all of this?"

"You should thank me for my mercy; if it were up to my ancestors, there wouldn't be a single living soul left within your nine clans!"

"Do you think your meager contributions are enough to make me show leniency?"

"What a joke."

"This Hive City does not need you vermin who suck the blood of the commoners. The glory of the Empire should not be your shield for oppressing the commoners."

"You would be most useful if you were all dead."

Victor was stunned by Fu Haoran's words; he had never imagined that Fu Haoran would be so crazy!

Fu Haoran looked at Victor's shocked expression and silently added to himself, "Damn, that slipped out... If this gets out, I'll really be besieged by the entire star system."

But the words were already out, and he didn't regret them; he even felt a trace of satisfaction.

He was already the Governor of a planet; did he still have to be timid and bow his head in submission?

Victor, having realized what was said, warned him without showing any weakness:

"Do you know what crazy things you are saying?! You are the Governor recognized by the Empire; by overturning the hereditary noble order, you are overturning the foundation of the Empire's rule!"

"Once this gets out, not only will all the nobles on Planet Scylla IV view you as a mortal enemy, but the Hive Nobles of the entire Mantin star system will unite to surround and annihilate you!"

"There is only one ending for you: being sent to the gallows!"

Upon hearing this, Fu Haoran suddenly scoffed: "The gallows? That depends on whether these parasites have the life to send me up there."
