32: The 'Soul-Eating Tree' incident has come to an end, but what about the evil god?

The next morning, Jiang Hao quickly finished breakfast and rushed towards the assembly point.

Last night, he chatted with Captain Zeng for a long time before reluctantly agreeing that he and Deputy Captain Yan would act as the 'vanguard' to probe the limits of the ‘Soul-Devouring Tree’.

He ran all the way to the assembly point five kilometers outside the danger zone.

The danger zone was the space between the outermost exotic beasts marked by the System and the central ‘Soul-Devouring Tree’.

Seeing the Martial Unification Bureau members arriving one after another, Jiang Hao went up and greeted Captain Zeng.

“Good morning, Captain Zeng!”

“Good morning, Mr. Jiang.” Captain Zeng still used his familiar respectful address.

Beside them, Deputy Captain Yan, who had tied her hair into a ponytail and was dressed in capable attire, also arrived.

Deputy Captain Yan first tapped something on the Light Screen, then looked at Jiang Hao: “Good morning, Student Jiang. Since the Captain has decided, I won't object either.”

“With my buff enhancements and the safety rope that will automatically pull you back if there's an issue, you can confidently venture further in.”

Deputy Captain Yan appeared very confident.

However, Jiang Hao looked speechlessly at Captain Zeng: “Is it really okay to raise a flag before the operation even begins?”

Captain Zeng looked at Jiang Hao with an expression that said, ‘Don’t worry, nothing will happen’:

“Mr. Jiang, rest assured. This computer-controlled safety rope will immediately pull you out if it detects a sudden stop lasting more than three seconds.”

Fine, since they were only probing the edge anyway, no major problems should occur.

When the Martial Unification Bureau high command gave the signal to begin, Jiang Hao and Deputy Captain Yan put on their safety ropes.

The two slowly approached the danger zone.

Tens of thousands of ‘Soul-Devouring Trees’ bearing white and purple flowers were rooted in a barren wasteland.

Surrounding them were millions of exotic beasts, densely packed and occupying all the ground space.

When the two were a few hundred meters away from the danger zone, Jiang Hao suddenly felt a moment of dizziness.

He forgot what he was supposed to do and why he was here.

With a cracking sound, something seemed to break.

Jiang Hao vigorously shook his head to clear his mind, then decisively slapped Deputy Captain Yan’s arm.

With a 'swoosh!'

Deputy Captain Yan, whose eyes were glazed over and face full of yearning, was pulled back.

Fortunately, the safety rope’s device for automatic retraction hadn't broken.

“What about the promised automatic retraction? I still had to do it manually.” Jiang Hao fiercely complained about the unreliability of the Martial Unification Bureau’s equipment.

Feeling that faint influence again, Jiang Hao turned and ran back.

Seeing Deputy Captain Yan lying on a stretcher holding her head.

Captain Zeng’s eyes widened as he looked at the unharmed Jiang Hao, speechless for a long time.

Some of the surrounding Martial Unification Bureau members were still watching the spectacle, while others had already taken out notebooks to ask Jiang Hao for autographs and photos.

Captain Zeng stepped up, interrupting Jiang Hao’s autograph session, and said to Jiang Hao with shock:

“Deputy Captain Yan said that even a Seventh-Rank Martial Artist might not be able to break free from that Mental Control.”

“It was alright, my spirit is naturally strong.” Jiang Hao used his old excuse without batting an eye.

Captain Zeng pretended not to hear and continued:

“We checked the safety rope malfunction just now and found no issues. Strangely, the computer didn't react when Deputy Captain Yan was controlled.”

Jiang Hao speculated:

“So, that ‘Soul-Devouring Tree’ can even trick the computer?”

After saying that, Jiang Hao himself found it ridiculous; how could a computer with no consciousness be tricked?

But Captain Zeng frowned and didn't pick up the conversation.

Jiang Hao was stunned. This wasn't some world of Bizarre tales, so how could this happen... A chill ran down his spine.

He walked a few steps toward the vehicle and opened his Fly-Letter to message Grandpa Li.

Jiang Hao roughly explained the situation, also mentioning the detail that the seeds couldn't hit their target unless they touched the ground.

[I Dont Eat Beef: Grandpa Li, are there any Otherworld types like Evil God or Bizarre entities?]

[really want to retire: I signed a non-disclosure agreement, so I cannot answer you, but this ‘Soul-Devouring Tree’ incident is over. The military will saturate-bomb that area shortly.]

[really want to retire: Thank you for your hard work on this mission. If there is nothing else, you can return to Yunlan City early.]

After saying that, Grandpa Li logged off.

Jiang Hao narrowed his eyes at the message on the Light Screen.

Although Grandpa Li said he signed an NDA, this itself was an answer!

Thinking about it again, the Demon World, the Magic World, the Exotic Beast World. It seemed reasonable that there would also be a world similar to Evil Gods and Bizarre entities... right?

“What happened to the peaceful world of urban high martial arts?”

Jiang Hao grumbled: “How are Martial Artists supposed to deal with those Bizarre things? Do they have to blow up the entire planet of that world?”

Until everyone left Battlefield No. 1 by car, Jiang Hao hadn't figured it out... Yunxiao City, Martial Unification Bureau Headquarters.

In a pitch-black room, several High-Rank Martial Artists silently reviewed the report sent by the action team.

Suddenly, there was a 'patta' sound.

The lights turned on.

“Are you guys sick? It’s fine if you don't turn on the lights during the day, but why are you also drawing the curtains shut!”

A woman dressed in ancient costume sat on the table with disdain.

The Martial Artists shook their heads helplessly. A middle-aged man wearing a hat said:

“Ms. Yun, this is the Martial Unification Bureau. Could you wear slightly more normal clothes next time you come to work?”

“Hmph! You should be grateful that I even bother to come to work at the Martial Unification Bureau; now you’re starting to make demands of me?”

Yun Qianqian sat on the table, looking at the data and action logs projected, and said dismissively:

“Just use Yuan Power Missiles to carpet-bomb the area, why did you bother calling me over? What a waste of time!”

“Hurry up and send the application to the military. I need to go shopping later.”

“Yun Qianqian! Don't forget that I am the Director!” The middle-aged man in the hat stood up and shouted angrily.

“Heh!” Yun Qianqian sneered at the Director and said:

“You will regret this!” With that, she slammed the door and left.

“Smack!”

Listening to this conversation that had been repeated many times, along with that signature door-slamming sound.

The other High-Rank Martial Artists gritted their teeth, terrified of laughing out loud.

No one knew what past grievances existed between the Current Head of the Yun Family’s younger sister and the Director, as they started arguing after just a few sentences every time.

The Director turned to his colleagues who were staring seriously at the projection, covered his face, and said, “Submit the application to the military.”

“Also, arrange personnel for cleaning up the battlefield this afternoon and deploy the drones.”

A high-ranking official said, “Should we arrange a special celebration party for those action team members? And for Student Jiang.”

The Director shook his head and said, “It’s better if they celebrate on their own somewhere; it’s not appropriate for the Bureau to host it, especially since over a thousand Martial Artists died in this operation.”

“However, we should meet that Student Jiang.”

...Missiles, inscribed with patterns on their exterior and warheads made of special Materials, slowly rose into the sky.

After the computer automatically calibrated them, they were launched toward the target area in Battlefield No. 1.

“Boom!” “Boom!” “Boom!”

Millions of exotic beasts and tens of thousands of ‘Soul-Devouring Trees’ were annihilated by the explosion of the Yuan Power Missiles, leaving behind only large craters and scorched earth... In the Chaos Void.

Time was distorted, formlessness existed, and there was no up or down.

However, deep in the Void Realm, seeds that were as beautifully dreamlike and filled with infinite longing were slowly drifting toward the Blue Star World.
