Chapter 157 Remember, Academy Rules

Queueing to enter the academy, just as she stepped through that heavy iron gate, a blast of cold air hit her face. Even though Lin Xi's Super God Set wasn't thin, she couldn't help but shiver.

In this academy, there was no scholarly air to be seen; instead, the entire environment was eerie and grim, heavy with yin energy, and even the air was permeated with the sour smell of stagnant water vapor.

"This way..."

The people in front followed the teacher in an orderly fashion, but Lin Xi, walking at the very back, wasn't quite so well-behaved.

On both sides of the main gate were rows of neatly piled flower beds. The soil inside looked like it had been loosened and was very moist; a single step could sink straight to the bottom.

Loosening the soil at this time? Lin Xi looked around. The environment wasn't right, and the temperature wasn't right either. Something was a bit off.

Passing the two rows of welcoming flower beds, what met her eyes was a three-story dormitory building, or rather... the Academy Building?

"First of all, welcome, new students, to our academy."

The teacher leading the way walked up a few steps and stood at the highest point, addressing the fifty people below. "This is our dormitory, and also our Academy Building. From today onwards, your life and studies for this semester will all take place here."

As he spoke, the teacher naturally pointed to the Academy Building behind him and continued, "In a moment, find your corresponding rooms and beds according to your numbers."

"Remember." Suddenly, the Substitute Teacher became solemn, then spoke to them in an extremely grave tone, "There are Academy Rules behind the door of every room. Remember, it's best if you can recite the full text and follow the requirements on it. Whatever you do, do not be... curious!"

With that, the Substitute Teacher suddenly revealed an exceptionally strange and terrifying expression, as if he had thought of something fun. "Oh, right, curfew is in ten minutes. New students, hurry up."

Hearing this, the players in the front row who were still hesitating immediately bypassed the teacher and walked into the building.

Although they didn't know what the rules of this academy were, the mention of 'curfew' sounded ominous. It was best to find their assigned dormitories and settle in quickly; otherwise, once curfew hit, there was no telling what might happen.

One player after another entered the building. With fifty people, it was soon Lin Xi's turn.

Looking at this short three-story building, Lin Xi narrowed her eyes. As she passed the Substitute Teacher, she cast an inadvertent glance but saw nothing particularly unusual. Thus, Lin Xi didn't linger and stepped into the Academy Building.

It was different from what she had imagined. The first and second floors of this building seemed to be classrooms, built according to standard classroom sizes. As she passed a classroom door, Lin Xi took a peek inside.

Unlike the classrooms in her memory filled with desks, the desks in here were pitifully few, with only two or three scattered in the middle. They were even covered in a thick layer of dust, as if they hadn't been used for a long time.

Passing several classrooms in a row, they were all like this. Lin Xi narrowed her eyes, thinking to herself that all the classrooms in this academy were covered in dust and had few desks. There were fifty of them; how would they attend class? Sit directly on the floor?

Or was it that in the end, only as many people as there were desks would survive to attend class in the classrooms?

Thinking this, Lin Xi arrived before the stairs. An elevator and a staircase were built together.

Installing an elevator for just three floors?

Just as Lin Xi was about to walk up the stairs to take a look, there was a 'ding' from the elevator, and the doors right in front of her slowly opened.

Oh, this elevator is quite large.

Lin Xi looked at the empty elevator opening before her and raised an eyebrow. After a thought, she reached out to hold the elevator button outside, then tentatively approached, leaning in to take a cursory look around.

She wasn't sure if it was her imagination, but as soon as she got close to the elevator's interior, Lin Xi smelled the scent of disinfectant. It was very strong, as if it were masking another smell.

For example... the smell of blood.

Looking at the elevator buttons, there was nothing special except for an SOS emergency call button at the very top.

Lin Xi tried pressing the buttons for the first, second, and third floors. They were all working and lit up; everything seemed fine.

As for anything else... besides this elevator being larger than those in ordinary school buildings—more like the kind used in hospitals that can fit a gurney—there was nothing special.

An academy with a strong smell of disinfectant in the elevator and a capacity large enough for a hospital bed—this combination was not good news.

Almost all the horror elements were coming together. As expected of a four-and-a-half-star supernatural game dungeon, it was indeed different.

She chose not to take the elevator. She wasn't that reckless; things like this should be left to the female leads of horror movies.

Following the stairs to the second floor, it was different from the first floor. This was the rest area, the dormitory zone. The male dorms were to the left, and the female dorms were to the right.

They're actually on the same floor?

Lin Xi thought for a moment and turned to the right. Surprisingly, the academy was quite considerate; each dormitory door had a list of residents posted on it.

Two people per room. To Lin Xi's surprise, she was actually assigned to the same room as that Xin Shan girl.

Opening the dormitory door, Xin Shan saw Boss Lin Xi Yi Meng walk in and almost doubted her own eyes.

How did she deserve to live with Boss Lin Xi Yi Meng! Now, the originally fearful and tense atmosphere dissipated significantly with Lin Xi's arrival.

"Yi—Boss Yi Meng, hello. I am Beautiful and Kind-hearted."

At this point, Xin Shan almost bit her tongue. She couldn't stop complaining to herself about why she had set such an ID in the first place. It was embarrassing, so embarrassing, and saying it in front of her idol made it even more so!

For a moment, Xin Shan wished she could dig a hole with her toes and bury herself in it.

"Mm, hello. I know you."

"I saw you during roll call just now."

Hearing this, Xin Shan nodded blankly. She then saw Lin Xi closing the door while asking, "Do you know who is living in the two rooms next to us?"

"N-no, I don't..."

"Have you seen the Academy Rules behind the door?"

"N-not yet."

"Then..."

Forget it, I'll figure it out myself.

This young girl was clearly so frightened she hadn't recovered yet. Rather than relying on others, it was better to rely on herself.

First, let's see what exactly those rules are.

Immediately, Lin Xi looked up at the back of the door. The moment her gaze touched the door panel, her eyes widened slightly in disbelief.

Behind the door... there was nothing!

It was clean, without even the dust she had seen on her way up. It could be said to be spotlessly clean—a unique piece of pure land—but where were the Academy Rules?
