Chapter 223 You are the next Young Sect Master
"Prodigy, this is the Immortal Palace Hall."
As the disciple spoke, he gestured for her to enter but did not take another step forward.
"It is not convenient for us to enter. Liuli Prodigy, please."
They really aren't allowed in?
Lin Xi cast a casual glance at the sect disciple before turning back to look at the palace gates, which seemed to have opened automatically. Inside, it was deep and dark, making it difficult to see clearly.
After a moment's hesitation, Lin Xi stepped through the palace doors.
Since they were being so mysterious, she wanted to see what was so special about this Liuli Prodigy and just what kind of place this Liuli Sect was.
As Lin Xi walked inside, the palace doors—which had opened just wide enough for one person—slammed shut with a loud boom.
Without the light from behind filtering through the doors, the hall was instantly plunged into darkness.
Lin Xi frowned, a hint of doubt flashing through her mind.
Isn't this... an immortal palace built of Liuli? Even if it's enclosed on all sides, it shouldn't be completely opaque, right?
While she was wondering, a ball of seven-colored Liuli light appeared directly in front of the Immortal Palace Hall. Starting as small as a fingernail, it gradually grew until it was the size of a person.
Vaguely, Lin Xi saw a figure emerge from the light. The seven-colored Liuli light then shrank again, finally merging into the silhouette.
Once the light vanished, the hall grew dim again. Fortunately, she could still see enough not to be completely blind in the dark.
'Da, da, da.'
A series of low, strangely grating footsteps echoed from the hall. The figure approached, stopping only when he was ten paces away from Lin Xi.
Only then did Lin Xi see the person clearly. He wasn't old; he was in the prime of his youth, looking hale and hearty. He was handsome and refined, radiating vigor.
Didn't they say that no one had reached the level of a Liuli Prodigy since the founder? Why did the person before her look so young—even younger than her?
The thought added to her confusion, but she didn't let it show on her face.
Sensing the other's scrutiny, Lin Xi looked up and met his gaze without fear. For a moment, their eyes locked.
The other party also seemed somewhat surprised. He hadn't expected this new Liuli Prodigy to be so fearless; there wasn't a hint of respect in her eyes, only speculation and wariness.
"Quite a good prospect."
"A Liuli Prodigy should be exactly like this."
After a long silence, the young figure spoke first. He didn't condemn Lin Xi's behavior; instead, he seemed somewhat approving.
"After so many years, another Liuli Prodigy has finally emerged. This is a great blessing for my Liuli Sect!"
He spoke excitedly, his enthusiasm growing to the point where he wanted to hold a banquet for Lin Xi and publicly announce her as the next Sect Leader of the Liuli Sect.
Facing such an emotional young man, Lin Xi remained unfazed. Instead, she took advantage of the moment he paused for breath after talking so much to ask a question.
"And you are?"
Hearing Lin Xi's words, the handsome young man straightened his clothes, coughed lightly, and said in an extremely proud tone.
"This seat is naturally the ancestor of the Liuli Sect, Liu Li Wu Shuang."
He really is the founding ancestor of the Liuli Sect?! He looks so young?
Is this the immortality and eternal youth unique to the cultivation world?
Noticing Lin Xi's astonishment, the founding ancestor who called himself Liu Li Wu Shuang chuckled and smoothed the short hair at his temples. He raised a hand as if to pat Lin Xi on the shoulder, but she instinctively dodged it.
Seeing this, Liu Li Wu Shuang withdrew his hand indifferently. He wasn't angry; instead, he looked at Lin Xi with a touch of pride and tempted her, saying, "You are also a Liuli Prodigy. Immortality and eternal youth will be easy for you."
"Once your status as the next Young Sect Master is announced and you become my disciple, I will personally pass these teachings to you."
Hearing this, Lin Xi made her own calculations. She raised an eyebrow and nodded to placate him for now.
When she left the Immortal Palace, she found that Chen Lian and Jing Hong were already gone. Upon inquiry, she learned they had been scouted by other powerful figures and taken away.
Afterward, whether it was because she was truly about to become the next Sect Master or because of her status as a Liuli Prodigy, Lin Xi noticed that the sect disciples treated her with even more respect after seeing her enter the Immortal Palace and leave calmly.
Especially the disciple who had initially brought her there; a flash of shock crossed his eyes when he saw Lin Xi emerge from the Immortal Palace unscathed, though it was quickly masked and vanished.
Unfortunately for him, although he hid it well, it didn't escape Lin Xi's eyes.
Is this... hall some kind of man-eating den? Could it be that no one who entered this Immortal Palace Hall before had ever come out safely?
However, the man calling himself Liu Li Wu Shuang was indeed suspicious.
He was too enthusiastic, too excited, even a bit undignified.
Lin Xi wasn't foolish enough to believe he was simply relieved to finally have a successor after being lonely for hundreds or thousands of years.
On the contrary, Lin Xi felt it was more like a sheep unknowingly walking into a tiger's den.
It was like a beast donning a mask of kindness before her, waiting for her to let down her guard to deliver a fatal blow!
After taking a walk around the sect, Lin Xi found nothing. The sect disciples were all like startled birds when they saw her; no matter what she asked, they only nodded or shook their heads, providing no useful information.
The one who spoke the most was the disciple who had led her up the mountain, and even he only gave her instructions regarding the banquet. Aside from that, there was no other useful information.
"Young Sect Master, this is your formal attire for tonight."
Ever since the founding ancestor sent out the news that she was about to succeed as the Young Sect Master, Lin Xi had been addressed this way all afternoon.
Now, as the lead disciple called her that, the disciples outside carried in chests of formal attire. They lined up in a row and opened the chests right in front of Lin Xi.
She was in for a surprise once they were opened.
Looking at the opened chests, Lin Xi actually saw something that hadn't appeared for a long time.
A Status Panel!
These formal clothes all had Status Panels, complete with various outfit names and skill descriptions.
However, the skill description columns for these clothes were almost all blank, with no special skills.
The appearance of this panel also reminded Lin Xi of the fact that she was still inside a game instance.
Since falling beneath the yellow sands, she hadn't seen anything labeled by the game. Now it seemed there might be some connection between this Cultivation Game and the strange game that had invaded them.
Unable to decline, Lin Xi picked out the formal attire with the best attributes and changed into it. By now, night had fallen, and the Liuli light shone even more brightly against the dark sky, like a sun in the night, illuminating the entire Liuli City.
"Young Sect Master, the auspicious hour has arrived. The banquet is about to begin. Please follow me."
Hearing this, Lin Xi stood up and walked toward the Liuli Immortal Palace Hall with her head held high.
As the saying goes, 'soldiers to block, water to cover.' If that Liuli Ancestor had designs on her, it would depend on whether he could actually manage to swallow her or get what he wanted!
Lin Xi was no soft persimmon that any Specter could just squeeze and crush!
