Chapter 294: Activate a total of fifty cross-server pay-to-win quests.

Mount Breeding Ranking?

Lin Xi squinted, resting her chin on one hand, tilting her head. She thought to herself that all her actions had actually landed her on another leaderboard. Combining this with the tasks the pay-to-win system had given her, Lin Xi realized something.

So-called Ghost Pets, to put it plainly, were just various kinds of pets. This setting was not uncommon in other games; one could even say it was very common. It was just called Ghost Pet within the Strange Creature Breeding Simulator.

Lin Xi hadn't really raised—or rather, used—these things much while on her home server.

For one, the level required to unlock the Ghost Pet function wasn't low, and for another... she wasn't at the point where she thought these strange-looking ghost-faced pets were attractive.

Furthermore, in her homestead and her guild, there were real tabby cats that had been kept in the hospital before the game invasion. After the game's public beta invasion, there hadn't been any special emphasis on the role of Ghost Pets. Therefore, if not for this reminder from the pay-to-win system, she would have almost forgotten about this function.

SSR Ghost Pet?

She didn't seem to have one of those.

Thinking of this, Lin Xi opened her homestead page and searched. As for Ghost Pets, she had some, but they were all the ones gifted for trial when the game version launched new features. They weren't high rarity, and they didn't look good either. Asking Lin Xi to raise them... it was truly hard to bring herself to do it.

Moreover, the pay-to-win system explicitly required an SSR rarity Ghost Pet. That meant not a single S or R could be missing; it had to be an SSR.

But that was where the problem lay.

Ghost Pets weren't like Specters or game characters that you could just get by pulling cards. Of course, you could pull for them, but...

The problem was that these things were limited-time card pools. They were only available when the pool was open. If it wasn't open, sorry, you couldn't pull them; you had to grind dungeons or go to the Ghost Pet Cute Garden to catch them yourself!

Yes, although there were definitely pay-to-win options when raising them, but... the problem was she didn't even have an SSR Ghost Pet right now. Having money with nowhere to spend it was truly frustrating.

Taking a deep breath, Lin Xi hadn't even figured out the Ghost Pet situation yet when the pay-to-win system in her mind started dinging away again.

"Ding, congratulations to the host for successfully entering the Main City Prosperity Ranking, activating Pay-to-Win Task 45: Add bricks and tiles to the prosperous main city. The best place is the one you live in yourself. Spend money to obtain a brand-new, high-end Safe City decoration set."

"Ding, congratulations to the host for successfully entering the top 80 of the Main City Prosperity Ranking, activating Pay-to-Win Task 46: Add bricks and tiles to the prosperous main city. The best place is the one you live in yourself. Spend money to obtain two brand-new, high-end Safe City decoration sets."

"Ding, congratulations to the host for successfully entering the top 50 of the Main City Prosperity Ranking, activating Pay-to-Win Task 47: Add bricks and tiles to the prosperous main city. The best place is the one you live in yourself. Spend money to obtain three brand-new, high-end Safe City decoration sets."

...

"Ding, congratulations to the host for successfully entering the top 3 of the Main City Prosperity Ranking, activating Pay-to-Win Task 50: Add bricks and tiles to the prosperous main city. The best place is the one you live in yourself. Spend money to obtain a special festival celebration high-end Safe City decoration set."

Prosperity?

Lin Xi checked the leaderboard upon hearing this. There was indeed such a list. The so-called prosperity was determined by the various residential houses, merchant shops, and entertainment facilities built by game players living within the Safe City.

It was like gameplay in some kind of simulation game, except that this Safe City wasn't just filled with NPCs; there were real players, real people.

And the top two in prosperity were none other than the two number-one players from Once Upon a City and Chronicles of Eternal Floating Splendor: Fu Hua San Qian and Li Hua Dai Che.

It made sense; this stuff was second nature to them and right up their alley, so naturally, they would get the hang of it much faster than the game bigwigs from the other districts.

As for Lin Xi, she had thrown this matter to Huan Xin. It seemed Huan Xin's abilities were indeed quite good; everything was arranged in an orderly manner, and she had actually made it onto the leaderboard.

It could be considered... a happy accident.

Just as Lin Xi was pondering that these pay-to-win main city skins were much easier to get than raising Ghost Pets, a message suddenly popped up in her mind. It made Lin Xi freeze, and then she trembled with excitement.

"Ding, congratulations to the host for successfully accumulating 50 cross-server pay-to-win tasks. Complete these 50 pay-to-win tasks to receive the reward: Infinite cross-server amethyst!"

Lin Xi: !!!

First, it was infinite gold coins on her home server, and then it was infinite cross-server amethyst. Good heavens, they weren't even pretending anymore.

Lin Xi had known this reward existed, but she didn't know where it would appear. Based on her first experience, as long as she spent enough money, she could activate this reward. But after knowing that pay-to-win tasks were linked to the leaderboards, Lin Xi had gradually dismissed that option. Who could have guessed it was waiting for her here!

This was great news. Facing the impending end of the cross-server protection period, having a cheat that could grant infinite amethyst stone was tantamount to being invincible. Any problem that could be solved with money was not a problem.

In other words, in a heavy pay-to-win game, what kind of problem couldn't be solved by money? The only possibility was that there wasn't enough money!

However, one shouldn't get happy too early. When Lin Xi saw a small, negligible countdown timer below this task, she immediately became nervous.

This wouldn't do. No matter what, she was determined to get the reward for this task. She absolutely could not watch the infinite amethyst stone slip through her fingers!

The prosperity part was easy to handle, but the troublesome part was the SSR Ghost Pet.

Relying on herself alone, it would definitely be hard. Perhaps...

"System, does this SSR Ghost Pet have to be a pet from the Strange Creature Breeding Simulator?"

Hearing her host's question, the system gave an honest answer.

"Host, this SSR Ghost Pet can cover and include all pets of the same quality within Cross-Server District 9, not limited to the Strange Creature Breeding Simulator."

"Friendly reminder: The raising part must be done by the host personally. This includes, but is not limited to, already raised SSR pets obtained through purchases, which do not count as task completion."

In other words, pets from District 8 or District 7, even if they might not be called Ghost Pets, were acceptable as long as their rarity reached SSR.

However, they had to be in their initial state. They could not have been raised by another player; even being leveled up by one level was not allowed.

But what was difficult about that?

Since it wasn't limited to the Strange Creature Breeding Simulator game, that made things much easier.

There was an old saying in the Dragon Kingdom: there is strength in numbers. She might not be able to do it alone, but what if a hundred people, a thousand people, or even the players from District 9 and Cross-Server District 9 did it together?

She didn't believe that so many people couldn't catch a few SSR Ghost Pets!

If it really came to that and the task wasn't completed, she would accept it!

Thinking of this, Lin Xi didn't hesitate. She opened the home server public channel, the cross-server public channel, and even posted a bounty on the game black market. Without exception, they were messages offering high prices to purchase initial, unraised SSR Ghost Pets (or pets of the same rarity from other districts).

Various public chat channels.

Lin Xi Yi Meng (Title: Searching for Him Among the Crowd): Offering an ultra-high price in cross-server amethyst to purchase SSR rare quality Ghost Pets (including pets from other districts). Starting at 10 million amethyst stone, no cap. First come, first served!
