31: She left.

She took the Little Wolf Cub with her.

She took She Yang with her.

But she left behind White Fox, and also Hu Qi.

White Fox lay down and turned his back; he did not know how disheveled he looked. His slender shoulders trembled slightly, and his tears seemed to have lost all control.

The first time he was abandoned, he couldn't find her anywhere after daybreak. He held Hu Qi and searched and searched, again and again. Finally, the village chief, Fox Heart, told him that he had been sold for just three beast skins.

He had been sold by his female master.

Once a Male Beastman mates with a Female, he becomes the Female's private property. Females indeed have the right to sell Males.

But White Fox could not understand it. She had mated with him willingly, and she had given birth to Hu Qi after being pregnant for two months.

When she was with him, she taught him how to use fire and lived with him; everything had been so wonderful.

Why, when he woke up, were the cubs here, but she was gone?

Why did she sell him for a mere three beast skins?

Was he really that bad? Did he... have to be abandoned by his lover?

For five years, how hard had it been for a Male who was sold by his female master as a Beast Slave and completely abandoned?

Yet, even through such hardship, he had raised their child.

He had finally seen her again, but her footsteps still would not stop for him.

He could not make her stay. She had left again; she had abandoned him for the second time.

Was it because he was too ugly? Was it because his health was poor? Or was it because his personality was truly too bad, and he was too cold toward her?

He was not good; it was all his fault. If he were good, she would not have discarded him.

"Father Beast!" When Hu Qi returned to the Cave, he saw that something was wrong with White Fox.

Even though the IV drip had finished and his blood had started to flow back, White Fox seemed completely unaware.

Hu Qi quickly pulled out the needle and checked on White Fox's condition.

When he saw that his Father Beast, whom he looked up to as his entire world, was actually shedding tears, Hu Qi's young heart trembled.

"Father Beast, what's wrong? Don't scare me!"

White Fox curled up, his voice very low, "Aqi, your mother doesn't want us anymore. She doesn't want you, and she doesn't want me."

Hu Qi was somewhat confused: "I know. Ever since I was born, she hasn't wanted us. Father Beast, don't be sad. It's okay, Aqi is fine."

White Fox curled up even more tightly, "She doesn't want us now either. She left; she just left. It's all my fault. I shouldn't have been so cold to her..."

"Father Beast, what are you talking about?" Hu Qi tried to help White Fox sit up.

But White Fox was like someone who had lost their Soul, devoid of any will to live.

"Father Beast, Father Beast, what are you saying? I don't understand. Get up quickly. Pretty Older Sister worked so hard to cure you; don't get sick again!"

"...She... she left. She has abandoned us once again."

Listening to White Fox's words, although confused, Hu Qi tried to understand what he meant, "Father Beast, I don't understand. You said my mother doesn't want us. But the one who left today was Pretty Older Sister. You can't possibly be saying that Pretty Older Sister is my mother, right?"

White Fox was silent; he did not say a word.

Hu Qi suddenly felt like he had been struck by lightning. "Father! Pretty Older Sister is my mother?!"

"Father, answer me quickly. Is Pretty Older Sister my mother?!" Hu Qi's heart also gradually tightened.

Pretty Older Sister was his mother?

So that was why Father Beast's attitude toward Pretty Older Sister had been so strange these past few days? Being cold to her on one hand, while carefully taking care of her on the other.

He had Qi toward her, but Father Beast... was still very concerned about her.

"Pretty Older Sister really is my mother, right?" The Little Cub actually regained his composure much faster than White Fox.

Hu Qi hurriedly shook White Fox, and they were face to face.

"If she is my mother, why doesn't she recognize us?"

White Fox had no strength to speak.

Hu Qi gave up on this question and asked, "If she didn't recognize us, but you recognized her, why didn't you tell her who we are? Why didn't you ask her why she wanted to abandon us?"

"Father Beast, if it were some other Female, I couldn't say. But I feel that Pretty Older Sister wouldn't have sold you. Is there some misunderstanding here?"

"Father Beast, are you really not planning to ask her? If you don't ask this time, will you really not regret it?"

"Father. If you don't pull yourself together, I won't have a mother, and you won't have a female master!"

Hu Qi shook White Fox forcefully, and White Fox slowly raised his head.

Hu Qi was also a bit panicked. Seeing that White Fox couldn't pull himself together, he ran out by himself.

It was raining heavily outside, and the rainy path was slippery. The five-year-old little fox cub was very anxious to find his mother; he accidentally tripped over a tree root and fell to the ground.

The rain was heavy, and it quickly soaked Hu Qi through.

Under the curtain of rain, White Fox stood beside Hu Qi, and Hu Qi looked up at him.

"Father. On a rainy day, scents are easily washed away. If you go any later, you won't be able to find her. Go find Mother, go quickly!"

"Aqi, do you really think I should go find her? She was the one who didn't want us first... Should I still run toward her?"

Hu Qi's eyes were red. "Father, if we can't find her today, we might never find her again. Aqi doesn't want to be without a mother. Aqi doesn't want to be without a mother as good as Pretty Older Sister!"

White Fox squatted down and checked Hu Qi's body, "Aqi, did you hurt your knee?"

"I'm fine!" Hu Qi pushed him hard, "Go quickly, go find Mother. I can go back to the Cave by myself, you don't need to worry about me!"

...

The rain was getting heavier.

There shouldn't have been such heavy rain during the Minor Rainy Season.

Riding on the back of the Wolf King's little brother, Nan Zhisui was wearing a raincoat. She patted the Wolf King's head.

"Let's go remove the stitches for your wife first. I'll stay in your Cave tonight. Otherwise, your Little Sixth probably won't be able to handle it."

She Yang and Little Sixth were both nestled in her arms, and Nan Zhisui tried her best to take care of these two cubs.

With such heavy rain, honestly, Nan Zhisui should not have left.

But the longer she lived in Stone Village, the more reluctant she would be to leave Hu Qi, and also... White Fox.

There was a strange feeling that made her fall for White Fox without realizing it.

But humans are humans after all; morality constrained her. Even if she felt she liked White Fox a little, she would restrain her feelings because of morality.

Leaving early was better, so she wouldn't find it harder and harder to leave later.

At this time, about two or three hours must have passed, so the IV drip on White Fox should have finished long ago.

After this IV drip was finished, his pneumonia would be better. As long as he didn't just court death again, there shouldn't be any problems.

And then there was little Hu Qi; the Little fellow was smart, sensible, and cute.

Although he had suffered quite a bit when he was young, such an angelic cub would surely have a bright future.

Nan Zhisui pinched the location of her heart and revealed a bitter smile.

She had traveled so far and was still thinking about the father and son.

Sure enough, she was still reluctant to leave, still very concerned.

Her eyes were leaking tears.

PS: This book is not angst-filled, not even a little bit.

It's just that in the process of emotional progression, Star Mom wants to write out the emotional parts, hoping to let everyone feel the conflict, the struggle, and the moving moments.

After going through these things, the relationship will be sublimated, become more certain, and the emotional foundation will be more solid.

Instead of being like some empty, rootless duckweed.

This batch of test runs was on April 1st, and the editor said there are a ton of new books, a ton!

So there isn't much traffic to go around...

But it passed the test run!

It still broke through!

The two data points, reading depth and retention rate, are quite good when compared horizontally with books from the same period!

This means Star Mom still managed to keep the friends who accidentally clicked into this book!!

Oh, babies, if you can, please leave a five-star review to make the facade of Star Mom's new book look better, thank you, thank you!
