Forced to do so
Soon, an open-source project titled “Utilizing Feng Shui to enhance data collection capabilities for AI training” was quietly created on GitHub.
Lin Yuan open-sourced the entire set of Feng Shui AI Model parameters that the system had forcibly derived.
To make this theory more convincing, he also included the food delivery algorithm he provided to Good Group, with business-related elements hidden, as a case study.
The additional case study was meant to provide empirical evidence for the theoretical application.
As for why he had to remove business-related elements, it was entirely to prevent Good Group from accusing him of leaking trade secrets.
Professor Zhang quickly leveraged his connections to vigorously promote Lin Yuan’s open-source project.
However, there were few responses. Professors across the board generally reported: “This kind of argument sounds like nonsense.”
AI combined with Feng Shui? No such articles have ever been published in reputable journals, and no professor with any self-respect has ever put forward such a view. Many people were concerned for Professor Zhang, fearing he might ruin his reputation in his old age.
Even though Professor Zhang loudly proclaimed the Good Group case, and even though Good Group had indeed caused a stir recently, people did not believe that Good Group’s momentum was created by an unknown first-year graduate student, using Feng Shui elements.
The main reason was that the case study provided by Lin Yuan had removed business elements related to Good Group. This prevented it from being sufficiently convincing. But if these elements were not removed and were openly disclosed, Good Group would definitely destroy him.
Professor Zhang had to admit he was unable to help Lin Yuan, and Dean Li was even considering what to say when he took Lin Yuan to apologize.
But Lin Yuan remained relatively calm; if all else failed, he could rely on Zhang Yan, the little official.
Zhang Yan said that her grandfather couldn’t stand such bullying. However, Lin Yuan truly did not want to rely on Zhang Yan’s family influence to resolve the matter unless absolutely necessary, fearing that resolving one issue might immediately lead to new troubles.
Lin Yuan changed the project description for his open-source project multiple times, but it still received no attention.
After 48 hours online, both stars and forks were zero. It was as if it had sunk into the ocean.
And the lawyer’s letter from Good Group had already arrived.
Zhang Yan’s first reaction upon hearing this was to roll up her sleeves and prepare to fight the other side, “Senior Brother, this is the second time in my life I’ve wanted to hit someone so badly.”
“And the first time?”
“The first time was for you.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean the first person I wanted to hit was you, Senior Brother.”
“Go quickly and beat up Good Group for me. After you’ve beaten them, you can hit me as much as you want.”
“Alright!”
But this was just Lin Yuan joking; after considering everything, he decided against it.
When it’s time to be cowardly, one must be cowardly.
He’s young, so being a bit cowardly isn’t shameful. And after all, he had struggled.
So, even though Lin Yuan and Professor Zhang were full of ambition at first, under a single lawyer’s letter, they quickly reached a tacit understanding—a wise man doesn’t fight when the odds are against him. After all, they had already struggled.
Dean Li quickly drafted a complete apology process. He even managed to enlist several influential alumni. “The old rascal and the young rascal have caused enough trouble; it’s my turn to clean up the mess.”
Zhang Yan was very puzzled, “You’re giving up just like that? Senior Brother, you’re not manly at all.”
“Senior Brother is teaching you a lesson?”
“What?”
“To show you the helplessness of ordinary people. Even if I am almost at the pinnacle for an ordinary person, I am still completely controlled.”
“Are you sure you don’t want me to get revenge for you?”
“No need.”
“But I can’t swallow this insult.”
“A gentleman’s revenge is never too late, even after ten years.”
So Lin Yuan unreservedly submitted his AI Feng Shui Model parameters to Hao Tuan Company. Not only that, he also specifically stayed at Good Group for an entire day, personally teaching the group of senior engineers sent by Good Group to reproduce the entire food delivery algorithm’s output process, step by step.
Those senior engineers were all talented young individuals from prestigious universities, and they quickly mastered the entire process.
However, they still had many questions.
Following the Feng Shui Model provided by Lin Yuan, they could indeed replicate the food delivery algorithm. But the question was, why could Feng Shui be used this way? Or rather, they didn’t understand how to reuse the same Feng Shui principles in other projects in the future.
Lin Yuan responded that it was their own problem.
Because he himself didn’t know how the computing system had forcibly derived this set of Feng Shui Model parameters.
Aside from not revealing the system, Lin Yuan had said everything he could.
However, Good Group still did not withdraw the lawyer’s letter.
Although those senior engineers did not give a clear conclusion on whether Lin Yuan was holding anything back.
But Good Group demanded that Lin Yuan must help them apply his Feng Shui combined with AI theory to other projects. Only after it was truly proven that this method was also effective in other projects would the lawyer’s letter be withdrawn and Lin Yuan be let go.
‘What the heck!’ Lin Yuan didn’t know what else to say besides cursing.
Reuse in other projects? What if other projects succeed in reusing it, but Good Group still hasn’t mastered Feng Shui combined with AI? Continue reusing it then?
Then Lin Yuan would become a free laborer.
To this, Good Group mockingly stated: they could pay, according to Lin Yuan’s previous salary, on a daily basis.
They looked generous, but Lin Yuan had originally hoped the food delivery algorithm could sell for tens of millions, and now it had turned into earning two or three thousand yuan a day. One was heaven, the other was hell.
Good Group was clearly determined to pursue him relentlessly and take advantage of his predicament.
If this continued, Lin Yuan would have to tell Good Group: ‘I’m actually cheating.’
‘And after they find out I’m a cheater, will they X-ray me and then slice me up?’
‘Damn it!’ Lin Yuan was thoroughly enraged.
Before unleashing the ultimate move of involving Zhang Yan, Lin Yuan made a final struggle; he thought of an idea.
Looking at recent news, Old Ma of SpaceX launches rockets at the drop of a hat.
The leader across the Pacific recently changed, and Old Ma, in a burst of excitement, launched another rocket.
Lin Yuan thought: ‘Why don’t I piggyback on some hot topic?’
Mainly, rockets are very prone to exploding.
Old Ma had blown up quite a few before, and although he doesn’t blow up many now, other countries blow them up with great enthusiasm. And the ways rockets explode are incredibly bizarre; some become fireworks, some are like firecrackers, some bounce twice and fall back down, and some explode right on the launchpad.
Even worse, some launch and then disappear. Like a paper airplane thrown in childhood, no one knows where it will float.
“System, can you use the Feng Shui AI Model to predict those rocket launches? Just to get some buzz for me.”
Lin Yuan didn’t waste words with the system. He directly pressed the system’s head, “Calculate for me!”
