1: Chapter 1 The World of All Gods
Canglan Star Domain, Blue Star.
Many students stood straight, their brows tinged with an unhideable nervousness, standing neatly on the wide playground as their gazes were involuntarily drawn to the massive altar in the center of the playground.
The altar was dark cyan all over, carved with dense and intricate ancient patterns. A clear and dazzling spiritual light gushed out from the center of the altar, intertwining into a faint light curtain in midair. It was eye-catching yet not glaring, firmly locking the line of sight of everyone present.
In this vast world where myriad races stood tall and gods and demons coexisted, any living being who condensed and accumulated ninety-nine points of origin divine power could ascend the Awakening Altar on the annual Deity Day to attempt to condense a divine body, open up a divine domain, and start the path of a deity.
In the corner of the crowd, an upright and tall youth was particularly eye-catching.
He was so handsome that it provoked the anger of both gods and men, with sword-like brows, starry eyes, a high-bridged nose, well-defined lip lines, and a tall figure.
Even when just standing casually, he naturally carried a sense of aloof fragility. However, within those deep eyes, there was not a shred of a youth's excitement and yearning, but instead, they were filled with an unresolvable helplessness as his lazy gaze fell upon the spiritual light-overflowing altar, inwardly complaining to himself.
"As a transmigrator, am I a bit too much of a failure? Apart from this good-looking face that is of no use, I am simply good for nothing."
The youth was named Su Ming. That's right, he was a transmigrator, a thorough failure-model transmigrator.
He vaguely remembered that in his past life, he had been hit head-on by a speeding heavy truck. At the very last moment before his consciousness dissipated, there was only intense pain.
Opening his eyes again, he became an infant abandoned at a street corner in this world, starving to death and on the verge of dying.
Fortunately, an old scavenger passed by and, out of a soft heart, carried him back home, raising him up bit by bit with picked-up sundries.
That was the only light in Su Ming's dim childhood.
Yet this light ultimately failed to accompany him for too long.
The year Su Ming turned ten, the old man still couldn't survive the torture of illness and passed away, leaving Su Ming all alone and once again reduced to a lonely person with no one to rely on.
Fortunately, before leaving, the old man left him a dilapidated house that could at least shelter him from wind and rain. Coupled with the world's quite generous subsidies for orphans, Su Ming lived frugally and through many bumps and hurdles, finally managed to steadily live to eighteen, making it to this day of deity awakening that determined everyone's future.
Over these eighteen years, Su Ming had lived exceptionally ordinarily, ordinary to the point of being in the dust.
The standard golden finger, system, and pocket grandpa of transmigrators—he didn't have a single one.
Those plotlines that only existed in novels...
The school belle with a secret crush on him, the gentle and considerate non-blood-related elder sister, the quirky and clever younger sister, and the charming aunt had never even appeared in his life.
It could be said that in these eighteen years, apart from that face capable of making all living beings pale in comparison, Su Ming was truly good for nothing.
Just as Su Ming was inwardly sighing over his mediocre-to-the-extreme transmigrated life, a slight commotion suddenly came from the direction of the altar, interrupting his thoughts.
Su Ming raised his eyes slightly, his gaze involuntarily casting toward the high platform at the front of the playground.
Principal Ning Zhengqi of Ningcheng No. 1 High School, dressed in a crisp divine robe with a posture as steady as a pine, stood on the high platform at the very front of the procession.
His gaze was like a torch, slowly sweeping across the thousands of young faces below. Although his tone was light, it clearly reached every corner of the playground: "Fellow students, today is the day you awaken your divinity and start a new life; at the same time, it is also the beginning of you taking on the mission of the human race and stepping into the Myriad Races Battlefield."
He paused slightly for a moment, a bit more expectation in his gaze, and continued: "As the saying goes, heroes arise from the grassroots, and generals and ministers come from commoners. Talents have high and low grades, and divine kingdoms have superior and inferior qualities, but this has never been the only factor determining your future. No matter what grade of talent you awaken, as long as you hold reverence in your heart, fight bravely, step into the Myriad Races Battlefield, and fight for the human race, you are all heroes of the human race!"
"To say nothing of the distant past, a million years ago, the Hongwu Great Emperor, who opened up the Martial Domain, only awakened the lowest-level mortal-grade talent [Begging] back then. It could be said it was starting with a bowl, and everything else relied on snatching. Yet, relying on an unyielding tenacity, he broke through all obstacles along the way, forcefully carving out tens of thousands of star domains, and even defying and slaying gods and demons, finally ascending to the Supreme Main God and becoming one of the most powerful deities in the history of our human race!"
"Everyone must remember, before the cosmos is settled, you and I are both dark horses!"
Principal Ning Zhengqi's words were passionate and sonorous, like a fire seed that instantly ignited the hot blood and yearning in the hearts of all the students present.
The students below all showed excited expressions, clenching their fists tightly, their eyes full of determination, as if the next second they would be able to awaken top-tier talents, rush to the Myriad Races Battlefield, and establish great achievements.
Only Su Ming, upon hearing these words, twitched the corner of his mouth and couldn't help muttering softly: "Or maybe not dark horses, but oxen and horses."
His voice wasn't loud, but it clearly reached the ears of several surrounding students.
The expressions of the people who had been full of excitement stiffened instantly, and the hot blood and yearning in their hearts, as if poured over by a basin of cold water from head to toe, instantly dissipated without a trace.
They turned their heads, and the gazes they cast at Su Ming were full of dissatisfaction, inwardly slandering: "Is this guy a devil? At such an inspiring moment, to actually say such mood-ruining words!"
Feeling the dissatisfied gazes cast by the surrounding classmates, Su Ming didn't care at all, just shrugged indifferently, his eyes remaining lazy, as if that complaint just now was just casually spoken.
At this time, Principal Ning Zhengqi was immersed in his own speech and didn't notice the small interlude on Su Ming's side, still grandly speaking on the high platform, constantly boosting the morale of the students.
Until he saw that the students below were all high-spirited and in high spirits, did he nod in satisfaction and end his speech.
"Lastly, I only wish: May the rivers and mountains remain forever secure, and Huaxia prosper forever; may the human race be prosperous and boundless for ten thousand generations!"
As Principal Ning Zhengqi's voice fell, the students below could no longer suppress the emotions in their hearts and shouted in unison, their voices loud, shaking the firmament, echoing throughout the campus of Ningcheng No. 1 High School: "May the rivers and mountains remain forever secure, and Huaxia prosper forever; may the human race be prosperous and boundless for ten thousand generations!"
Looking at the youthful, unbridled, and high-spirited faces below, Principal Ning Zhengqi showed a gratified smile on his face, turned around, and slowly walked down the high platform.
With his departure, the awakening ceremony officially began.
Batch after batch of students walked onto the central altar in an orderly manner according to sequence.
Time passed bit by bit, and there were fewer and fewer students on the playground, until the last student stepped onto the altar, and a dazzling light emanated from above the altar.
Countless streaks of spiritual light covered the altar.
