153: Senior brother, your repair costs are very high!

“Yo, Senior Brother?”

A somewhat exaggerated exclamation rang out across the vast main peak square.

Wang Duojin was holding a small notebook, calculating how to invest the rent recently collected from the old Qingmu Sect site into the expansion plans for the Myriad Dao Pavilion.

Looking up, he saw a figure kneeling on one knee within the teleportation Formation.

Ye Chenfeng leaned on his sword with one hand, the tip of the blade carving a shallow mark into the hard white jade floor.

His head was bowed, and his long black hair was somewhat disheveled, obscuring his face.

But on the back of his cyan myriad dao immortal robe, a hideous gaping hole had been torn open; its edges were charred black, and mangled flesh was faintly visible.

Wisps of an ominous, grayish-black aura, visible to the naked eye, were wriggling frantically on his left arm like maggots, devouring his vitality.

The ledger in Wang Duojin’s hand hit the ground with a 'thwack'.

He jumped up instantly like a cat whose tail had been stepped on and rushed over in a single stride.

“My goodness! Senior Brother! Did you go to demolish something or did you get demolished yourself?!”

Wang Duojin’s voice cracked.

He circled around Ye Chenfeng, looking at the damaged immortal robe and the eerie Death Qi on his arm, his chubby face wrinkling like a bitter melon.

“This... this myriad dao immortal robe is an Emperor-grade Immortal Artifact! It's bound to your identity, impervious to fire and water, and invulnerable to blades and spears! Just how much of a grudge did they have, and how ruthless was the guy who could beat you into this state?”

He reached out a finger and cautiously poked the charred opening on Ye Chenfeng’s back.

“Hiss—these repair fees won't be cheap! How many Heaven And Earth Treasures will it take to fix this? This is all cost! These are all Spirit Stones!”

Even as he wailed, his hands didn't stop moving.

His Storage Ring flashed, and a pile of bottles and jars poured out all at once, like beans being dumped from a bag.

“Nine-Revolution Golden Pill! For saving your life! Eat it!”

“Vitality Creation Pill! For repairing the Physical Body! Eat it!”

“Blue Skies Yellow Springs Pill! For purifying the Divine Soul! Eat this too!”

“Don't be polite! Just consider it a workplace injury claim filed with the Sect!”

He stuffed several top-tier Immortal Pills—the kind that would make Immortal Kings in the outside world fight to the death—into Ye Chenfeng’s hand, his face full of heartache.

Ye Chenfeng looked up.

His face was somewhat pale, but his gaze remained calm.

He didn't stand on ceremony and tossed the Medicinal Pills directly into his mouth.

The pills melted upon entering his mouth, turning into a majestic torrent of life that exploded within his body.

“Scavengers.”

Ye Chenfeng uttered three words.

“Three Golden Immortals.”

“One Late Stage, one Middle Stage, one Early Stage.”

Wang Duojin’s movements suddenly froze.

His face, which had been written all over with 'distress over Spirit Stones,' instantly darkened.

“Scavengers?”

He muttered the name, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.

“Those bedbugs again, the ones who follow behind vultures to snatch food.”

“Damn it, they even dare to dig at the foundation of our Myriad Dao Divine Sect? Are they tired of living?!”

Just then.

A figure as gentle as a spring breeze, carrying a faint medicinal fragrance, rushed over in a hurry.

“Senior Brother!”

Gongsun Yan lifted her skirt, her face full of anxiety and worry.

She immediately saw the stubborn gray Death Qi on Ye Chenfeng’s arm.

“This is... the Curse of Decay!”

She cried out in alarm, her small face instantly becoming solemn.

“Utterly overbearing! It can actually erode the Chaos Sword Body!”

Without the slightest hesitation, she immediately knelt down and extended her snow-white right hand, gently pressing it against Ye Chenfeng’s arm.

“In my name, all things, revive.”

She chanted softly.

An emerald green light, filled with endless vitality and hope, blossomed from her palm.

The light was like tender sprouts in early spring, breaking through the soil.

It was also like the sweet rain of creation, sprinkling upon the mortal world.

“Sizzle—”

The moment it touched this emerald green light, that overbearing gray Death Qi acted like snow meeting its nemesis; it let out a shrill shriek and rapidly dissolved!

Ye Chenfeng only felt a warm current surge into his left arm.

The bone-deep pain and the sensation of withered decay were retreating at high speed.

His pale complexion also regained its color at a rate visible to the naked eye.

“Phew...”

Gongsun Yan withdrew her hand, a layer of fine sweat beads seeping from her forehead.

She only breathed a sigh of relief when she saw Ye Chenfeng’s arm restored to normal.

“Fortunately, although this curse is vicious, the person who cast it hasn't reached a deep enough level of cultivation.”

“Otherwise, we would have had to go find Revered Master.”

“Thank you.” Ye Chenfeng stood up and nodded to Gongsun Yan.

“Why are you thanking me?” Gongsun Yan shook her head, her face still carrying worry.

“Senior Brother, you...”

“Alright, alright, he’s fine now, so let's not be so fussy.”

Wang Duojin waved his hand from the side, interrupting her.

He picked up the ledger from the ground, patted off the dust, and looked at Ye Chenfeng again.

“Senior Brother, this matter cannot just be left like this!”

He said through gritted teeth.

“One must look at the Revered Master before hitting the dog! They hurt you, which is slapping the face of our entire Myriad Dao Divine Sect! Even more so, it's slapping Revered Master’s face!”

“I, Wang Duojin, cannot swallow this insult!”

His eyes darted around, and he immediately had an idea.

“Where is Second Senior Sister? Let Second Senior Sister’s Myriad Dao Pavilion get moving! Dig up the ancestral graves of those 'Scavengers' for me!”

“I want to know where their nest is! How many assets they have! How many subordinate forces! I want all their businesses to go bankrupt overnight!”

“Dare to touch our people? I'll make them lose even their underwear!”

Wang Duojin waved his fist, spittle flying everywhere.

Right at that moment.

A lazy voice, sounding as if the speaker hadn't fully woken up, drifted leisurely over the entire square.

“What's all the noise about?”

“It's early morning; are you not going to let people sleep?”

The three of them stiffened and immediately bowed in unison toward the rocking chair under the ancient enlightenment tea tree at the summit of the main peak.

“Disciples pay respects to Revered Master.”

Chu Xuanjin’s voice came again.

“Oh? Chenfeng, you're back?”

“I heard you demolished two scenic spots in the Eastern Region?”

“What, did you get addicted to being a demolition crew? You even managed to get yourself caught up in it?”

There was a hint of undisguised teasing in his voice.

Ye Chenfeng’s face turned slightly red.

“This Disciple was incompetent and has shamed Revered Master.”

“It's not to the point of shaming me,” Chu Xuanjin’s voice was still lazy.

“As for those... what were they called, 'Scavengers'...”

Chu Xuanjin’s voice paused.

“Duojin is right.”

“One must look at the Revered Master before hitting the dog.”

“They don't understand this principle.”

“Then teach it to them.”

His voice remained calm and lazy.

Yet Wang Duojin and Gongsun Yan felt a chill run down their spines.

“I will personally notify Ling'er's Myriad Dao Pavilion.”

“Duojin, you cooperate with her.”

“I want to see all the information on those bedbugs within three days.”

“Remember, I mean everything.”

“This Disciple obeys!” Wang Duojin puffed out his chest excitedly.

“Alright, disperse now.”

Chu Xuanjin’s voice gradually faded away.

Peace returned to the square once more.

Ye Chenfeng glanced at Wang Duojin, who looked excited and was already calculating how to ruin the other party.

He then looked at Gongsun Yan, who was still somewhat worried.

He spoke slowly.

“Next time.”

“It won't happen again.”

He would not let himself return in such a pathetic state again.

Just then.

The anchor point in the center of the square glowed brightly once more.

A figure, slightly confused yet standing as tall as a pine tree, appeared within the Formation.

It was none other than Lei Jingtian, who had only recently joined the Sect.

He steadied his mind and, at first glance, saw the three people before him.

He saw the youth in cyan, whose aura was as restrained as an abyss, yet who felt more massive than an immemorial divine mountain.

He saw the fat man holding an abacus with a shrewd face, surrounded by a faint glow of financial fortune.

He also saw the yellow-skirted girl with a gentle temperament, as beautiful as an immortal, radiating the breath of life.

Any one of these three, if placed in the outside world, would be a peerless Prodigy capable of shaking an entire region.

Yet here, they seemed to be merely engaged in some sort of everyday conversation.

Lei Jingtian’s mind received an unprecedented shock.

Is this the Myriad Dao Divine Sect?

Are these his Senior Brothers and Senior Sister?

He took a deep breath to suppress the turmoil in his heart, stepped forward, and bowed in the manner of the Sect Disciples he remembered.

“New Disciple Lei Jingtian greets... the three Senior Brothers and Senior Sister.”
