61: It's no fun to bully noobs

It took nearly half an hour for Ye Tian and the other to finish cleaning out the miscellaneous bugs in the box.

Because there were many poisonous ones among those miscellaneous bugs.

Ye Tian originally wanted to find a far-off place to throw them away.

But when he turned his head, he found that Blade had crawled out at some point.

He was eating those poisonous bugs with great relish.

He could finish off a bug in just a few bites.

He didn't know how it could fit so many things inside its body.

However, seeing it crawl out to eat on its own initiative, Ye Tian felt that these bugs must be somewhat different from ordinary food.

After asking Blade if eating poisonous bugs would cause any problems.

He didn't interrupt.

Instead, he pulled Zhang Liang over to watch.

The latter had been happily counting the Crickets, but when he turned around and saw Blade eating a Scorpion, his attention was immediately diverted.

He hurried over.

"Liang Zi, keep an eye on him. This Scorpion is poisonous. If Blade has any strange reaction after eating it, remember to call me. I'm going to pick out some good Crickets to take with us."

"Alright, Brother Tian. What kind of Cockroach is our Blade, exactly? His appetite is way too good. He really dares to eat even the poisonous ones."

"Whatever. I saw him eat several poisonous ones just now, so it shouldn't be a big deal. Just keep watching."

After saying that, Ye Tian saw that Zhang Liang didn't look back at the box.

He secretly fished out the needle he had used before from his pocket.

Then he took out a piece of tissue paper.

He quickly pricked his fingertip through the tissue paper.

A red dot instantly appeared on the tissue paper.

Before the red dot could spread too far, Ye Tian quickly pulled the tissue paper away and threw it into the box.

Then he closed the lid.

Sure enough, it didn't take long.

Things started happening inside the box.

And compared to Cockroach battles.

The noise from the Cricket battle was significantly louder.

Ye Tian quickly made an excuse to go to the bathroom and carried the box a bit further away.

To avoid Zhang Liang hearing the noise, which would be hard to explain.

Fortunately, as a species that loves to fight.

Cricket battles come and go quickly.

A few minutes later.

The noise inside had already subsided.

Ye Tian opened it to take a look.

Out of the thirty or so Crickets from before, only one remained.

However, there were still many corpses nearby that the winner hadn't had time to eat yet.

Ye Tian had to continue pretending to be on the toilet, waiting for another ten minutes or so.

After it had finished eating all the corpses, he finally picked up the box and returned to the original spot.

"Brother Tian, have you picked them? Quick, let me see what kind of badass specimens you've selected."

Ye Tian smiled slightly and set the box on the ground.

He looked over at Blade.

The Money Gu truly lived up to its name.

In just those ten-plus minutes, he had already eaten most of the hundred or so bugs of various sizes.

The remaining ones were gradually waking up.

They were struggling to crawl away.

But Ye Tian felt that in this state, Blade seemed even more excited.

He was chasing and biting the bugs that were running the fastest.

His golden figure leaped about, and the wings that cockroaches rarely use were being utilized to their full potential by him.

"Holy crap, Brother Tian, is your box leaking?"

While Ye Tian was observing, Zhang Liang beside him let out an anxious cry.

When Ye Tian turned his head.

He saw him looking all over the box, checking every side.

"Where is it leaking?"

Ye Tian asked with a smile.

"Weren't there dozens just now? Why is there only one left? Brother Tian, did you forget to close the box properly earlier?"

"One is enough!"

Ye Tian continued to smile.

"Huh?"

Zhang Liang stopped his movements, looking a bit confused.

"Brother Tian, didn't you want to do a tag-team battle before..."

"I wanted to do a tag-team battle too, but this one is too fierce. In the time it took me to go to the bathroom, all the other Crickets were killed or injured by it, so I threw them all away."

"That powerful?"

Zhang Liang's eyes widened, and he hurriedly looked down at the only Cricket in the box.

Then his eyes lit up.

"Not bad! This size feels a whole size larger than that Old Man's Cricket. And this sound, it sounds so resonant. When I was looking up information earlier, it said you can tell if a Cricket is good just by its sound. So this one of ours is definitely a powerhouse."

"Whether it's powerful or not, we'll only know after a fight. Let's go try it out."

Ye Tian certainly didn't understand Crickets.

But for a Gu Master, there was no need to understand at all.

He called back Blade, who was clearly full and was only hunting bugs for fun.

Ye Tian picked up the box and got into the car with Zhang Liang.

Before long, they were back at Old Man Lu's doorstep.

Surprisingly.

The Old Man was acting as if he were waiting for them on purpose; he hadn't even closed the front gate.

Seeing the two of them appear, a look of disappointment crossed his face.

"And here I thought I could find some fun for my two treasures today. Looks like I wasted my breath! Fine, no need for you to come in. Go back, and don't come here again."

As he spoke, Old Man Lu prepared to close the door and shoo them away.

"Hey, Old Man, why are you going back on your word? We agreed that we'd find Crickets to compete with you, and if we won, you'd rent the house to us. Now you're trying to back out before we've even competed."

Zhang Liang said anxiously.

The Old Man sneered, "Does there even need to be a competition? Look for yourself, how long has it been since you left? Just over an hour. That's not even enough time for a round trip to the Copper City Flower and Bird Market. What are you going to compete with? You didn't think you could just grab any random one from the roadside, did you? I finally got a bit interested, but you didn't take it seriously at all. What's the point of competing?"

"Old Man, is it possible that you're taking your Crickets too seriously? If you're afraid to compete, just say so. What's the point of messing with people?"

Ye Tian also spoke up.

As he finished speaking, a look of anger appeared on Old Man Lu's face.

"Who's afraid to compete? But what grade is your Cricket, and what grade is mine? I've thought it through; I'm someone who has dominated the Cricket world for decades, after all. There's really no fun in stomping noobs. Let's leave it at that. I can't be bothered to talk to you anymore."

"Old Man, don't you regret it."

Ye Tian's lips curled up. He didn't persist and shot a look at Zhang Liang.

Then he prepared to turn around.

However, at the very moment he turned, a resonant insect chirp came from the box in his hand.

"Wait!"

Hearing this chirp, Old Man Lu, who had been dismissive just a moment ago, had a slight change in expression.

After a sharp shout, he tilted his ear as if trying to listen for something.

Ye Tian, however, acted as if he hadn't heard him.

He continued walking away.

"Kid, get back here!"

Old Man Lu grew anxious and quickly chased after him for a couple of steps, shouting.

"Old Man, you're the one who told us to leave, and you're the one who won't let us go. What exactly are you trying to do?"

Ye Tian feigned ignorance.

"Bring your Cricket out and let me see it!"

"Forget it, Old Man. You're always going back on your word, so there's not much point in looking. Who knows if you'll just refuse to acknowledge it again like just now, even if we luckily win the Cricket fight. So it's better not to waste time."
