162: Mellon's accident, the robot companion will accomplish its mission

Although the Longevity Drug provided little enhancement to his already decaying body, it significantly revitalized Mellon.

Simply put, it kept Mellon alive.

A moment later, Mellon had a strong feeling that he could remove his ventilator and stand up.

Immediately, he did just that.

He reached out his right hand, yanked the ventilator, and pulled it off.

Then, with a slight push of his hands, he sat up on the hospital bed.

This long-lost sensation brought him immense comfort.

How long had it been since he had sat up?

He remembered… he had been lying in bed for three years!

This was the first time he had sat up in three years.

This feeling was truly very comfortable… However, he wasn't allowed to savor it for long.

Because he had unplugged the ventilator and other related equipment, an alarm blared in the ward.

This alarm was even louder than the one caused by his emotional fluctuations last time.

This was a critical condition alarm.

The life monitor couldn't detect Mellon's presence… his heartbeat curve had become a flat line.

This… terrified the doctors at Mellon Hospital.

According to Mellon's condition, he should have at least another year to live! If he died in their hospital now, there would be big trouble.

Therefore, they rushed in.

There was even a group of emergency doctors, carrying a pile of incomprehensible emergency medical instruments, ready to perform emergency resuscitation on the patient.

But… when they came in and saw this scene, they were all dumbfounded.

What was wrong with Melon XII?

Mellon was sitting on the hospital bed, his eyes shining brightly.

There was no sign of critical illness whatsoever.

On the contrary, Mellon looked as if he had taken a powerful tonic, full of vigor.

Everyone was silent for a moment, and eventually, the director of Mellon Hospital was the first to react.

He smiled faintly, his face like a spring breeze.

“Mellon,”

“Are you alright? Why did you pull off the ventilator?”

“It’s dangerous.”

“Quickly put the ventilator back on.”

However, he was met with Melon XII's cold and indifferent voice.

“I know my own body’s condition.”

“You don’t need to worry about it.”

…The director of Mellon Hospital was silent for a moment, not knowing how to respond.

For some reason, he had a feeling that the Melon XII, who had once been so influential, had returned.

“Oh, right.”

“Which of you is a professional diagnostic doctor?”

“Help me examine my body and see if there are any changes.”

“I… I am…” The director of Mellon Hospital smiled slightly.

He then took the diagnostic equipment and performed a comprehensive examination of Mellon’s body.

He was very professional in his examination.

Coupled with the professional diagnostic instruments, he quickly discovered the changes in Mellon's body.

His heart had become stronger and more powerful.

His cells had become more vibrant… “This, this…”

“This, this, this…”

As the examination progressed, the hospital director was greatly astonished and couldn't help but exclaim.

“A miracle!”

“This is truly a medical miracle.”

“Mellon, what exactly did you do just now? Your body… you look several years younger.”

Melon XII smiled slightly upon hearing this.

He did not answer the hospital director’s question.

After getting the answer he wanted, he became even happier.

“Everything the Longevity Foundation said was true.”

“If that’s the case, then what if I give my all?”

A resolute glint flashed in Mellon’s eyes… After a pause, he suddenly spoke:

“Help me call George over.”

“Oh, and my good-for-nothing son, call him over too.”

“Alright,” the director said, seeing that Mellon’s body was fine and saying nothing more.

Originally, he had wanted to conduct a more in-depth examination of Mellon’s body to understand how such a medical miracle could occur.

However, because Melon XII was the patriarch of the Melon Family, he ultimately dared not speak those words aloud.

To dissect Mellon like a lab rat?

He must be tired of living to have such a thought… Soon, George and Mellon’s son, XIII, received the news that Mellon’s health had recovered somewhat.

Their expressions changed slightly, and then they cursed loudly.

This old geezer.

Why doesn’t he just die already?

He’s lived this long, and he still isn’t willing to hand over the Family to the younger generation.

I am your own son!

If that’s the case, then don’t blame me.

You forced my hand.

After XIII made a secret phone call, presumably making some arrangements, he then followed George to Mellon Hospital.

Perhaps hearing about Mellon’s recovery, their moods were not very good.

“Father,”

“I heard that you’ve recovered some of your health. That’s truly a joyous thing.”

XIII walked into the ward, seeing Mellon’s spirit and energy restored considerably, and he no longer looked sickly.

His heart gradually grew gloomy and malicious.

But he was very clever.

Although he was very displeased internally, he showed no outward signs of it.

“Hmm,” Melon XII responded indifferently.

Perhaps his attention was entirely on the Longevity Drug, and he didn’t pay much attention to his son’s reaction, which led to an event he would regret for the rest of his life…

“Son,”

“Take me to the Family’s finance department.”

“??? What????” XIII’s expression changed upon hearing this. He never would have imagined that his father’s first request would be to go to the finance department.

“Father, what are you going to the finance department for?”

“To withdraw money.”

“Hmm… Father, if you don’t have enough to spend, I can use the finance department to make money for you. Why bother making a trip? Just tell me how much money you need.”

“Ten billion,” Mellon said indifferently, his voice sounding somewhat matter-of-fact.

Little did he know!

During his days of being bedridden, the Melon Family was no longer his to command.

“This… why do you need so much money?” XIII’s voice grew increasingly gloomy as he listened to Mellon’s words.

“Urgent need.”

“Father, you know, the elders of the Family won’t agree to move such a large sum of money.”

XIII’s mouth twitched, but his heart grew colder and colder.

He even harbored killing intent.

You old geezer!

It’s one thing that you don’t want to die.

But why are you still thinking about the Family’s money?

In XIII’s eyes, this was all his money.

Once Mellon passed away, he would be in charge of the Melon Family.

He would never allow Mellon to take his money.

Heh heh!

If that’s the case!

Then you can just die.

XIII thought maliciously to himself, but on the surface, he wore a harmless smile.

“Alright.”

“Father.”

“I’ll take you to the finance department to withdraw the money right now.”
