10: nightmare

After arriving at the Demon Suppression Division, Lu Ming unconsciously let out a sigh of relief.

In his opinion, the Demon Suppression Division was already the safest place in Lianbo City, and he assumed that the demons would not attack this place just to pursue them.

The Demon Suppression Division's defenses were quite strict, especially given the unrest tonight.

Under Cheng Yuanwu's arrangements, Luo Zhong and his group went to treat their injuries, while Lu Ming and his parents were settled in two guest rooms.

After bidding farewell to his parents, Lu Ming returned to his room, and his tense mood completely relaxed. With this relaxation, fatigue began to spread.

Although the System's Lifespan could improve his Martial Skills, it was difficult for it to keep his mental state at its Peak.

Before tonight, let alone killing demons, he had never even slaughtered a chicken.

The sense of mortal danger made him choose to endure, guarding against potential dangers. He dared not be careless along the way, but after all, human strength is limited.

Leaning on the slightly hard bed, Lu Ming felt his eyelids as heavy as if filled with lead, and a strong wave of sleepiness surged over him.

He didn't take off his clothes or belt, and even the long saber that had killed several demons was held in his arms.

A moment later, light snores echoed in the quiet room.

That night, Lu Ming had a dream.

He dreamed that he was on an empty street, shrouded in darkness, with a pair of scarlet eyes seemingly staring at him from the shadows.

Lu Ming, keenly sensing the dangerous aura, instinctively chose to flee, but no matter how far he ran, the entity hidden in the shadows still followed unhurriedly, as if playing with its prey.

Just as Lu Ming felt exhausted from running, the black shadow suddenly pounced, like an arrow shot from a bowstring. He could only see the black shadow approaching, seeing a pair of playful beast eyes, but he couldn't make out its face at all.

Just as he drew his saber, ready to fight for his life, the dream suddenly shattered.

Suddenly opening his eyes, Lu Ming seemed not yet free from that extremely vivid dream. He took a deep breath.

His hazy gaze gradually refocused, and Lu Ming then realized he had had a nightmare.

"Is it because of that Peak Realm Demon?" Lu Ming thought to himself.

It was only early spring, and the weather was still cold, but Lu Ming found that the hot sweat on his back had soaked his clothes.

It was just dawning. Looking out the window, the morning light dispelled the darkness, illuminating the entire room.

Looking at the long saber in his hand, he recalled last night's experience. Lu Ming knew that now was not the time to relax.

This dream was a warning to himself.

The crisis Lu Manor faced was not over yet. He was unsure of the exact situation at the manor, and whether Commander Zhao had encountered the potentially existing Peak Realm Demon.

Just as Lu Ming was pondering these questions, footsteps came from outside the room.

"Young Master Lu, Commander Zhao is looking for you. Are you awake?"

A familiar voice came from outside the door, which interrupted Lu Ming's thoughts.

Upon hearing the words "Commander Zhao," much of Lu Ming's worry lessened. Since the other party had returned to the Demon Suppression Division, he had likely already clarified the situation at Lu Manor.

Lu Ming stepped forward and opened the door, only to see Luo Zhong, whom he had saved, standing outside.

After a night's rest, Luo Zhong's complexion was noticeably better.

"Where is Commander Zhao?" Lu Ming asked instinctively.

"He is in the inner hall. Master Lu has already gone ahead," Luo Zhong replied truthfully.

Lu Ming nodded slightly and, led by Luo Zhong, headed towards the inner hall.

Zhao Bufan and Lu Daoyuan were sitting at the dining table, conversing. Seeing Lu Ming arrive, a smile appeared on Zhao Bufan's face.

"Little Lu is here. Sit, sit. You must be very hungry after your exertions last night."

Facing Zhao Bufan's greeting, Lu Ming glanced at the food on the table. Although it was morning, there were vegetables and meat, with steaming hot aroma rising, clearly freshly prepared.

He had fought with demons last night. Although he had the System panel's support, performing Moves consumed a lot of physical strength.

He was already ravenously hungry. After hearing Zhao Bufan's words, he responded and came to the table to sit down.

After eating six or seven steamed buns, a plate of meat, and finally drinking a bowl of white porridge, Lu Ming, feeling like he had truly come alive, slowly let out a long breath.

Lu Daoyuan watched silently, a hint of surprise in his eyes.

When had his son become so capable of eating? However, thinking about how he rarely paid attention to him due to his busy schedule, he didn't think much of it.

As for Zhao Bufan, he paid even less mind. After all, as a Martial Artist, daily practice of Martial Skills consumed a great deal of physical strength. If he truly let loose, his appetite would be much larger than the other party's.

"Are you full?" Zhao Bufan asked.

"Full."

"Good, come over here. Let's discuss some serious matters."

Zhao Bufan's smile vanished, replaced by a serious expression.

Lu Ming stood up and walked over to Zhao Bufan.

As he drew closer, Lu Ming keenly sensed a powerful aura.

It was as if not a human, but a crouching tiger, was sitting before him.

"Is this an Extremity Realm martial artist?" Lu Ming secretly clicked his tongue.

Among the four Martial Dao Realms, Zhao Bufan had already entered the third Realm, and it was precisely with this strength that he was able to obtain the official position of Martial Guard Commander.

Perhaps throughout the entire continent, Zhao Bufan's strength was not considered much, but in the Great Liang Kingdom, Extremity Realm martial artists were few, and each was worthy of the court actively seeking to win them over.

Zhao Bufan raised his hand and grabbed Lu Ming's right wrist.

Facing this action, Lu Ming was somewhat puzzled but did not dodge.

As his father's good friend, he believed the other party would not harm him.

His peripheral vision caught sight of the other party's arm, where several bandages were wrapped, with a faint medicinal scent lingering.

"Was it caused by fighting with demons?" Lu Ming thought to himself.

Like taking a pulse, Zhao Bufan activated a surge of True Qi in his palm, slowly exploring along the Meridians.

After a while, he withdrew his hand and let out a sigh of admiration: "Perfection in the Mortal Realm, and such vigorous Qi and blood, not cultivated by external forces."

"Good lad, I really misjudged you back then. I didn't expect you to be hiding so much. I remember your Lu family's Cultivation Technique is called Subduing Dragon Fist. What Realm have you cultivated it to?"

Facing Zhao Bufan's elder-like praise, Lu Ming responded calmly, "Uncle Zhao, I have cultivated Subduing Dragon Fist to the ninth layer."

He did not conceal his strength, especially in front of an Extremity Realm master.

Since he had already chosen to expose it, Lu Ming simply admitted everything.

Both his Blade Aura and his cultivation were witnessed by Luo Zhong and the other three when he killed the demons last night. If he presumptuously chose to hide, it would instead displease the other party.

"Ninth layer!" Lu Daoyuan's eyes widened, and he couldn't help but gasp.
