240: Rush to Qingshui Lake

Lu Ming's brows were tightly furrowed; he knew what this truly meant.

Although there were several Extremity Realm martial artists in the Demon Suppression Division now, a force strong enough to suppress the surrounding demonic creatures, they seemed incredibly insignificant in the face of this naturally occurring catastrophe.

Even an Extremity Realm martial artist couldn't last long in those surging floodwaters, especially with the chaotic Water Spiritual Qi mixed within; one misstep, and even a Dao Realm Martial Artists would be in danger.

This meant that, currently, only he could approach the Qing Shui Lake in Lianbo City.

And this also made him notice something unusual, as the Water Suppression Formation of Qing Shui Lake had never broken down before, yet it developed problems shortly after Lu Ming killed the Black Rhino Demon King.

Moreover, it was only the beginning of the flood season; even if the water was rising rapidly, it shouldn't have reached a level capable of almost submerging Lianbo City in such a short time, which made Lu Ming realize that someone must be behind this.

While he couldn't be entirely sure, Lu Ming could almost determine that this was an open conspiracy targeting him, and he had no choice but to go to Qing Shui Lake to suppress the flood.

After all, with his strength, even facing a flood, he would be perfectly safe.

If he didn't go, then the entire Lianbo City would be swallowed by the flood, and countless citizens would be buried in the surging waters.

Even if he survived in the end, he would likely be held accountable and even bear a great deal of infamy.

As for going to Qing Shui Lake, although there was a high possibility of encountering danger, and even being buried within, there was still a glimmer of hope.

The most important thing now was that he didn't have much time left to choose.

"How much longer until the flood reaches Lianbo City?" Lu Ming looked up and asked in a deep voice.

"According to observations, it will arrive in at most an hour," Zhao Bufan said with a serious expression.

No one had anticipated that the Water Suppression Formation of Qing Shui Lake would lose its effectiveness; Lianbo City had never experienced such a natural disaster in a thousand years, and now witnessing it firsthand, he realized how terrifying the floods described in records truly were.

"I understand, Uncle Zhao, give me the Water Suppression Talisman; I'll go investigate immediately," Lu Ming took a deep breath and decided without hesitation.

Even if there was danger, he had to go; although he wasn't troubled by so-called fame and fortune, he would never stand by and watch hundreds of thousands of people in Lianbo City perish before his eyes.

Zhao Bufan immediately handed over an ancient-looking talisman from his waist; the entire talisman had a bronze texture, and it appeared to have been stored for a long time, as many mottled rust spots had appeared on it.

However, it was still faintly discernible that the words 'Water Suppression' were engraved on the talisman.

Although its surface was rusty, when Lu Ming used his Divine Sense to investigate, he found that the Restriction runes inside the Water Suppression Talisman were still perfectly preserved; they only needed to be activated with True Qi for their spiritual essence to manifest.

After giving a few more instructions, Lu Ming didn't hesitate at all; he immediately mobilized the True Qi in his Dantian and flew into the air, heading straight for the location of Qing Shui Lake.

Zhao Bufan watched the figure, which had turned into a black speck in the blink of an eye, clenching his fists and muttering, "You must make it!"

...

High above, the strong winds howled, making Lu Ming's robes flap loudly, and at this moment, looking down, a scene like a catastrophe was unfolding on the land.

The surging torrents, like ten thousand horses galloping, mixed with broken wood, branches, and sand, pushed forward frantically.

And wherever the flood reached, houses were instantly destroyed, fields turned into wetlands, and vast expanses of yellow-green farmland became muddy oceans in an instant; even some mountain areas turned into river valleys, with the flood violently crashing into them, creating waves.

When Lu Ming arrived above Qing Shui Lake, he found that the floodwaters here were surging, and the spreading currents had submerged the surrounding mountain peaks; this area was originally at a higher elevation, and the surging water was at least a hundred meters deep, with strong undercurrents within.

His gaze fell upon the broken Water Suppression Formation, which was still exerting some effect, using its weak Formation power to create a clockwise rotating water vortex on Qing Shui Lake, but even so, it was difficult to stop the rushing floodwaters.

Looking at all this, Lu Ming's brows furrowed; he could almost confirm that this Water Suppression Formation had not developed a problem on its own, but had been damaged by external forces.

"Come out; you destroyed this Water Suppression Formation to lure me here, didn't you?" Not rushing to repair the Formation and stop the flood, Lu Ming looked up and spoke coldly.

The sharp voice spread through this world via True Qi, and the constant sound of rushing floodwaters from below did not obscure Lu Ming's voice in the slightest.

And in the next second after his words fell, not far away, in an empty area where there had been no signs of human presence, a ripple appeared, followed by two figures, one large and one small, suddenly appearing there.

Lu Ming felt the two dangerous auras; he turned to look and found that, at some point, an Elephant Demon and a black-haired youth had appeared before him.

Lu Ming frowned and looked, his attention entirely focused on the black-haired youth; the other party seemed to not emit much Demonic Qi, far less intense than the Elephant Demon next to him, but the sense of threat he brought to Lu Ming was far stronger than that of the Elephant Demon.

Knowing that the other party was also a demon, and that the black-haired youth's status seemed to be quite a bit higher than he had expected, this made Lu Ming's vigilance reach its peak.

"Since you knew it was an ambush, you still dared to come; I don't know whether to say you're courageous or foolish," the black-haired youth sneered; he looked up at Lu Ming, somewhat surprised, wondering when Yunzhou had gained another Late Stage Dao Realm Martial Artist, but he quickly returned to his usual expression.

"Who are you?" Lu Ming questioned in a deep voice.

The other party's aura was very strange, making it difficult for Lu Ming to determine what kind of demon he was; as he spoke, Lu Ming silently used his Divine Sense to investigate, finding that there were no other threats in this area besides the two demons in front of him.

"My name is Kunwu; as for who I truly am, you don't need to know, after all, I don't have a habit of introducing myself to a dead man," the black-haired youth said arrogantly, his eyes full of disdain; he had originally thought that the Demon Suppression General of Yunzhou had come to Lianbo City to guard it.

Unexpectedly, it was an unknown minor general, and the Black Rhino had actually been killed by him, which made him quite annoyed.

After all, the Black Rhino had followed him for hundreds of years, and he understood its strength; in his opinion, the other party must have used some external force to kill the Black Rhino, otherwise, how could he have killed the Black Rhino, who was also in the Late Stage Dao Realm?
