267: The clone and the original body

“Not good!”

The Sphinx’s heart sank.

Although it didn’t know why Shen Xi suddenly started laughing, it vaguely felt a sense of unease.

From beginning to end, the Sphinx had never underestimated Shen Xi.

Though this young man was not yet twenty and only at the Greater Completion of the Acquired Realm, his displayed strength and hidden trump cards far exceeded his age and Realm.

Otherwise, the Sphinx wouldn’t have risked exposing its true intentions by sending a Clone to personally deal with Shen Xi.

Sure enough!

The next second, a Blood Rust appeared in Shen Xi’s hand again.

Moreover, this Blood Rust was clearly different from the Blood Rust he had used before.

The previous Blood Rust was entirely black, as if it had rotted and molded.

But this Blood Rust, in addition to being black, also faintly revealed a hint of blood red.

Yuyue Realm Blood Rust!

Activate!

A power capable of rivaling the Sphinx surged forth.

Not only that, this power was clearly even stronger than the Sphinx’s.

“Damn it, how do you still have trump cards?!”

The Sphinx had thought it was a sure win and hadn’t expected Shen Xi to have a forbidden weapon of this level.

For a moment, it couldn’t dodge in time, and a bone-deep wound was left on its body.

This made its expression exceptionally grim.

It had hunted birds for many years, only to have its eyes pecked out by a little sparrow.

Not only that, what made the Sphinx even more furious was that its combat power was severely affected.

It was, after all, just a Clone, not the true body.

It was a product formed by the Sphinx condensing its own vitality and blood Qi.

Precisely because of this, once injured, its vitality would leak out, and its combat power would naturally be affected.

Furthermore, the Sphinx had initially believed this battle to be a sure win, with no possibility of any further accidents.

After all, among the Yao Beast in the outside world, the strongest were only at the Half-Step Dianling Realm, and no one could threaten it, let alone injure its Clone.

This also led to the Sphinx not expecting such a situation to arise, leaving it in a dilemma for a moment.

This made the Sphinx unsure if Shen Xi still had similar forbidden weapon, which made it hesitant to strike again rashly.

Currently, it could still prevent the leakage of its vitality, but once it was wounded again, the vitality would be unstoppable, and this Clone would dissipate in the shortest amount of time, causing its entire plan to fall through.

“To avoid further accidents, the true body must act personally!”

The Sphinx muttered to itself in a low voice.

With that, it directly abandoned Shen Xi and flew towards the Yao Beast army.

“Damn it, it’s coming for us!”

“It’s going to attack us!”

“It must be; it can’t deal with the Human kid for now, so it plans to eliminate us first!”

“Run!”

The Yao Beast screamed in terror.

The Yuyue Realm pressure made them feel endless fear.

This was the threat of death, making them shiver.

However, even if the Yao Beast reacted, it was already too late.

Being targeted by a Yuyue Realm expert was not so easy to escape.

With a wide-open maw, the Sphinx devoured tens of thousands of Yao Beast into its belly.

And this was just the beginning.

The Sphinx moved through the ranks as if no one was there; no Yao Beast could escape its pursuit.

In just a few minutes, the remaining tens of thousands of Yao Beast were all converted into its blood sustenance.

Even those Yao Beast Leaders who were usually high and mighty did not escape the calamity.

“Still not enough!”

The Sphinx roared madly.

The leakage of vitality was stopped by the energy provided by the large amount of blood sustenance, and its injuries were rapidly healing.

But this was far from enough.

It needed more power to allow its true body to emerge and leave the Thatched Cottage.

With that, the Sphinx flew directly towards a Yao Beast habitat in the distance.

There, a large number of Yao Beast were also gathered.

“It just left like that?”

Shen Xi was a bit bewildered.

He hadn’t expected the Sphinx to so decisively abandon him and go hunt Yao Beast.

At the same time, this also made him wonder.

Logically speaking, the Sphinx was a Yuyue Realm Yao Beast; since it had targeted him, how could it be repelled so easily by a single Yuyue Realm Blood Rust?

One must know that a single Yuyue Realm Blood Rust only had the power of one Yuyue Realm strike, while the Sphinx could almost endlessly unleash such power.

It only needed to attack Shen Xi a few more times, exhaust his trump cards, and then it would win.

But now, the Sphinx had directly given up on Shen Xi, which was clearly not right.

“Although I still have some Yuyue Realm Blood Rust, at most, it can only last for a while.

This is not a reason for it to let me go!”

Shen Xi murmured to himself.

He did not stop the Sphinx from hunting the Yao Beast.

Firstly, he was powerless to stop it; he could only protect himself with the Yuyue Realm Blood Rust or have Little Doll deal with this trouble.

With his own strength, he couldn’t stop the Sphinx.

Secondly, he didn’t want to stop it.

These Yao Beast were all bloodthirsty races.

Even though they now appeared to be victims, having been manipulated by the Sphinx, if they were released into the outside world, countless innocent humans would tragically die at their hands.

Otherwise, Zhu Feng Ao would not have Sealed them here.

It could be said that these Yao Beast deserved to die.

“Wait! Seal?”

Shen Xi suddenly thought of something.

His eyes lit up.

These Yao Beast were Sealed here by Zhu Feng Ao.

However, with Zhu Feng Ao’s strength, did he need to go to such great lengths to Seal them?

He could have completely annihilated these Yao Beast!

Why did he do that?

For a moment, many thoughts came to him.

He vaguely guessed Zhu Feng Ao’s intentions and also why the Sphinx would temporarily let him go.

“If the Sphinx I’m currently facing is a Clone, and its true body is actually Sealed by Zhu Feng Ao, then its actions make perfect sense!”

“The true body is within the Seal, and the Clone cannot last for too long.

Once injured, it will disappear even faster.

So, to be safe, the Clone first lets go of me, this threat, and chooses to hunt Yao Beast to heal its injuries.

Is that not understandable?”

“Not only that! The Clone intends to release the true body, allowing the true body to deal with me personally.

After all, the Clone is not stable, and injuries greatly affect the Clone, but the true body does not have this concern.”

Shen Xi guessed the reason for the Sphinx’s departure, which made his eyes brighten.

If he had been facing a Clone just now, that would mean the true body was still hidden somewhere.

Then, while the Clone was busy hunting Yao Beast, could he perhaps take the opportunity to raid the opponent’s lair?
