13: Chapter 13 Flashy and Superficial, One-Finger Kill

"Fine."

Su Chen slowly stood up.

His physique looked nowhere near as sturdy as Wang Gang's, but his aura didn't pale in comparison at all.

One after the other, the two walked to an open space outside the classroom.

The students looking for excitement followed them out, forming a circle around them.

"Roar!"

Wang Gang let out a low growl, completing his Spirit possession in an instant.

His body swelled by a full size, his muscles becoming firm and solid.

A layer of dark yellow mane covered his chest, and his hands transformed into thick bear paws, with claws gleaming with a metallic luster.

Two yellow spirit rings rose from beneath his feet, circling upward.

A Spirit Grandmaster!

This overwhelming aura caused the spectating students to subconsciously take a few steps back.

"First Spirit Skill, Gravel-Crushing Bear Palm!"

Wang Gang shouted as thick, earthy-yellow Soul Power condensed on his right claw. With the sound of whistling wind, he swiped toward Su Chen.

Whoosh—!

The wind from the claw was sharp, sending fallen leaves on the ground flying in a frenzy.

"All flash and no substance."

Su Chen stood where he was, not moving an inch.

It wasn't until that bear claw was about to touch the tip of his nose that he leisurely raised his right hand.

In his palm, a wisp of dark purple lightning flickered.

That lightning was extremely peculiar, carrying an aura of chaos, with a tiny dragon-shaped phantom swimming within it.

Su Chen didn't even use a soul skill; he simply flicked a finger toward the incoming bear claw.

Swoosh—!

A concentrated bolt of dark purple lightning shot out.

The lightning looked very small, yet it struck Wang Gang's bear palm with incomparable precision.

Chirp-crackle!

The earthy-yellow Soul Power Wang Gang was so proud of was instantly shredded like paper.

An incredibly violent force of lightning exploded along his arm instantly.

Wang Gang was sent flying backward, slamming hard into a large tree several meters away.

Rumble!

The tree trunk shook violently.

“Pfft!”

Wang Gang slid to the ground, his body still twitching uncontrollably, a trace of blood leaking from the corner of his mouth.

When he looked at Su Chen, there wasn't a hint of arrogance left in his eyes, only fear.

Dead silence filled the field.

Everyone stared wide-eyed, looking at the fallen Wang Gang and then at Su Chen, who stood there without even a wrinkle in his clothes.

An instant kill!

A two-ring Spirit Grandmaster had been instantly defeated by a single finger.

Just what kind of monster was this Su Chen?

"What's going on?"

Just then, a cold female voice rang out.

The spectating students automatically stepped aside to make a path.

A tall female teacher walked over. She had waist-length hair and delicate features; she was Su Chen's homeroom teacher, Mo Yao.

Mo Yao's gaze swept across the area, finally landing on the fallen Wang Gang and the indifferent Su Chen.

Her slender brows furrowed slightly.

After asking a few students about what happened, she understood the general situation.

Mo Yao walked to Wang Gang's side and checked his injuries; it was just a Soul Power shock and some superficial wounds.

"It's not a big problem. I'll take Wang Gang to the infirmary first."

"Su Chen, go to the Deans Office."

...

Deans Office.

A middle-aged man with a balding 'Mediterranean' hairstyle stood with his hands behind his back, looking out the window.

He was the academy's Director of Teaching, Du Weilun.

Soon, Mo Yao brought Su Chen and Wang Gang inside.

Wang Gang's face was still somewhat pale.

As soon as Du Weilun saw Wang Gang, he flew into a rage and slammed the desk.

"Wang Gang! Who gave you the guts to engage in private combat within the academy? You even dared to use your Spirit. Do you want to be expelled?"

Du Weilun pointed at Wang Gang's nose, his spittle nearly spraying onto the boy's face.

Wang Gang was so scared he didn't dare lift his head.

After finishing his scolding of Wang Gang, Du Weilun's gaze turned toward Su Chen.

With just one look, the towering rage on his face vanished without a trace.

In its place was a kind and amiable smile.

This speed of changing face surprised even Mo Yao beside him.

"Oh, Little Chen."

Du Weilun walked quickly to Su Chen's side and patted his shoulder affectionately.

"Young people, it's normal to have a bit of a temper. I understand."

"But don't go starting fights outside next time. If you want to fight, go to the Soul Dueling Arena and have a proper match."

"We'll let it slide this time. Don't let it happen again."

These words left Wang Gang dumbfounded.

Wasn't this 'double standard' a bit too obvious?

Su Chen just smiled and said nothing.

Du Weilun cleared his throat, put on a stern face again, looked at Wang Gang, and solemnly announced the disciplinary result.

"Wang Gang, for provoking trouble within the academy and creating a bad influence, you are given one major demerit."

"Su Chen, considering you were acting in passive counterattack, you are given a verbal warning."

When the result came out, Wang Gang felt completely numb.

They were in the same class, so why was the treatment so different?

But he didn't dare voice any complaints. He could only slink away with his punishment after Du Weilun waved him off impatiently.

Only three people remained in the office.

The smile on Du Weilun's face grew even friendlier as he leaned toward Su Chen.

"Little Chen."

"Elder Mu personally entrusted you to our academy. How could I let you be wronged?"

So it was because of Master Mu En's connection.

No wonder.

Su Chen realized the truth and scratched his head, feeling a bit embarrassed.

"Director Du, actually, I was already holding back a lot."

"Who knew he'd be so fragile? I just gave a casual flick, and he went down."

These words were like adding insult to injury.

However, Du Weilun didn't think he was showing off; instead, he took it for granted.

"That's only natural. How could a disciple taught by Elder Mu be the same as those ordinary students?"

"Twelve years old, a Rank 42 Battle Soul Ancestor."

"Little Chen, your talent, even in the entire continent, is an incredibly explosive existence!"

When these words were spoken, even Mo Yao beside them couldn't help but take another look at him.

Talk about a humblebrag.

After returning to the classroom.

Mo Yao stood on the podium, her cool gaze sweeping over the whole class.

"Regarding the conflict between Su Chen and Wang Gang today, the academy has reached a decision."

"Considering no serious consequences were caused, we will not pursue further responsibility from either side this time. Let this be an exception."

"I hope everyone takes this as a warning. Do not use your Spirits privately within the academy."

...

After this incident, Su Chen became completely famous in the class.

As soon as school was over, several classmates gathered around, asking all sorts of questions.

"Brother Chen, what exactly is your Spirit? Purple lightning, that's way too cool!"

"Yeah, you sent Wang Gang flying with one finger. Can you teach us?"

"Brother Chen, do you need any followers? The kind that can cheer for you?"

Su Chen didn't know whether to laugh or cry at this display and could only give a few casual responses.

He turned his head to look out the window; the sunlight was just right, warm and pleasant.

Suddenly, he thought of the grilled fish Yuhao made.

The taste of it being crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, sprinkled with secret seasonings, made his mouth water even now.

"I wonder if that kid set up his stall today."

The corners of Su Chen's mouth curled up slightly.

Following his thought, he simply strolled out of the classroom and headed straight for the school gate.

Cultivation is nowhere near as good as eating!
