36: Strange Flower Picking
Su Wen wanted to pick a better spirit ring for his second spirit ring.
These two Immortal Plants were indispensable.
The only regret was that in the original story, Little San's Soul Power didn't increase after consuming them.
"Kid, I must warn you first, even a Titled Douluo wouldn't dare stay long by the spring, let alone jump in,"
Dugu Bo couldn't help but speak up to warn him as he saw him about to jump into the spring.
"Little Wen!"
Ye Yuaner frowned; as a Titled Douluo, she could naturally feel how terrifying the spring water was.
Even she wasn't confident about going in, let alone a Spirit Master like Little Wen.
"Don't worry, Aunt Ye. These two Immortal Plants were born from the same source as the spring, merging extreme heat and extreme cold. After eating them, I won't have any problems even if I drink my fill of the spring water."
Seeing Su Wen speak so seriously, and having experienced the power of Immortal Plants herself,
Ye Yuaner nodded slightly, ultimately deciding to trust Little Wen.
"Hong Dou!"
The red oiled paper umbrella appeared out of thin air, and a cool breeze immediately blew across the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well.
Dugu Bo's eyes changed slightly, staring at the red oiled paper umbrella with some surprise.
The surface of the umbrella was covered in ancient, illegible incantations. The incantations flickered with a strange and faint light. Nine long banners hung around it, eight of which had talismans attached.
Dugu Bo couldn't see through it, but he could feel that every part of it exuded an eerie aura.
Under his slightly surprised gaze, a red mist drifted out of the umbrella.
With the appearance of the Ghost Bride,
the surrounding Yin Qi became increasingly thick.
Dugu Bo looked at the Ghost Bride's unique attire, which was both terrifying and festive; this was clothing that had never appeared on the Douluo Continent before.
He asked in surprise, "Is this your Spirit?"
Su Wen didn't reply. He took out metal and jade containers from his spirit tool and handed the metal container to Hong Dou, letting her pick the Octagonal Mysterious Ice Grass.
Holding the jade container, Su Wen ran towards the fiery apricot shu. Before he even got close, he felt a wave of extreme heat.
Braving the heat wave, he circulated his Soul Power to cut the fiery apricot shu at maximum speed.
At that moment, Hong Dou drifted over holding the Octagonal Mysterious Ice Grass, looking relaxed, as if the extreme cold aura didn't cause her any harm at all.
Su Wen placed the two Immortal Plants together, and the two opposing forces of extreme heat and extreme cold were instantly neutralized.
Without hesitation, he stuffed them both into his mouth.
They instantly turned into two streams of energy that flowed down his throat.
Su Wen quickly removed his spirit tool and his clothes.
In just that short moment, his blood surged, and sensations of discomfort and pain began to emerge.
A small amount of frost appeared on the surface of his body, only to turn extremely hot within a single breath. Su Wen experienced the duality of ice and fire, and the breath he exhaled alternated between hot steam and cold mist.
Knowing the medicinal effects had begun, he dove headfirst into the spring water under Ye Yuaner's worried gaze.
Hong Dou also turned into a streak of red mist, drifting into the spring and merging back into the red oiled paper umbrella.
Soaking in the spring water, Su Wen immediately felt the medicinal power erupt fully.
The two forces desperately battered his Meridians, creating a sensation of his body being torn apart, and his bones even emitted slight cracking sounds.
Su Wen groaned in pain, yet this agony carried a sense of great joy; every sensation of his body tearing represented the rapid progress of the Ice and Fire Body Refining.
As time passed, Ye Yuaner waited by the spring for several hours.
Seeing the spring water remain calm and still, the anxiety and worry on her face grew more intense.
"This kid couldn't have died, right?"
Dugu Bo muttered to himself.
He could already tell that this Spirit Kite Douluo cared deeply about that boy.
If he really died,
it would be a small matter for the Spirit Kite Douluo to destroy this place, but a huge matter if she killed him to vent her anger.
Even if he escaped today, he would forge a blood feud with Spirit Hall in the future.
"Little Wen."
Just as Ye Yuaner was about to lose her composure, ripples appeared on the previously calm spring water.
Su Wen's head broke the surface, and as he jumped out of the spring,
his face was full of joy.
He could feel the changes in his body; his physique had strengthened significantly. Most importantly, he was now immune to all poisons and to ice and fire. These effects were shared by Ah Yin, A Rou, and even Hong Dou, who all gained the same benefits as him.
Su Wen originally didn't fear the sacred light attribute.
If he could maximize the effects of the ice and fire immunity,
Su Wen felt that in the future, he could walk around with his hands in his pockets without a care.
"Aunt Ye..."
While Su Wen was sensing the changes in his body, a pair of hands reached out and pulled him into a hug. The arms held him very tightly, even trembling slightly.
"Aunt Ye, you're holding me too tight."
"Hmph!"
"Hehe, I feel like I've become stronger. I could plow twenty acres in one go without getting tired."
Su Wen pressed against her towering figure, smelling her fragrance and exhaling a pleasant breath of turbid air.
Then, he realized something was wrong. Under Ye Yuaner's burning gaze, his cheeks flushed slightly as he broke free from the embrace and picked up his clothes from the ground.
"Little Wen has become sturdier, and he's grown bigger too."
Seeing his shy appearance, Ye Yuaner felt relieved and let out a silver-bell-like giggle.
Su Wen felt like she was praising him, yet it also felt a bit strange.
"Sigh, what a pity. I originally wanted to go down and see those two Great Dragon Kings, but I couldn't reach the deepest part."
Su Wen put on his gear and looked at the spring water with slight disappointment.
The cave was right there, but even using all his strength, he couldn't reach the bottom.
He was still too weak.
"I'll come back when I'm a Spirit King."
Thinking this, Su Wen was checked over by Ye Yuaner. Once she was completely at ease, he looked at Dugu Bo: "Senior Dugu, I hope you won't speak of today's events to anyone."
"This old man is naturally not the talkative type!"
Dugu Bo could also see that eating those herbs allowed one to be immune to the spring's damage.
It was clear that the herbs this kid picked were priceless treasures.
However, Dugu Bo didn't regret it. After all, he had no use for these things even while guarding them, and more importantly, he, Dugu Bo, valued keeping his promises most of all.
"Don't worry, come find me in half a month. I will concoct the antidote for you and also give you an Immortal Plant..."
Su Wen saw that Dugu Bo was being sensible and didn't mind giving him an Opportunity.
Bidding farewell to Dugu Bo, Ye Yuaner took Su Wen into the Sunset Forest to find a Spirit Beast.
According to Dugu Bo, there was an area in the forest where dark-attribute Spirit Beasts lived, including a Dark Demon Tiger.
"Aunt Ye, how many years of a Spirit Beast can I absorb now?"
In the night, as the two walked through the dark forest, Su Wen asked about his physical condition while observing the surroundings.
"A Spirit Beast under five thousand years should be no problem!"
Ye Yuaner's heart pounded as she said this.
She actually felt that Little Wen could absorb at least six thousand years.
But that was too terrifying.
She felt it was better to be a bit conservative.
Even so, there was a bit of sweat in Ye Yuaner's palms.
This was only the second spirit ring; in the history of Spirit Hall, she had never seen such a crazy existence.
"Under five thousand years, huh? That's a bit less than I imagined!"
Su Wen wasn't particularly disappointed; this age limit was already very suitable.
Now he just wanted to obtain a spirit ring quickly and see if the second Seal on the red oiled paper umbrella would drop.
