266: Chapter 266 The Limitless Dao Sect!
At the same moment, in the east of the Immortal Realm, at the Immortal Court.
Inside a towering palace, the scene of three people sitting and drinking tea had not yet changed.
Lingyangzi held his teacup, listening to Cangdi and Emperor Haotian describe the woman who had stormed the Great Leiyin Temple one after another.
"Immortal Venerable Chenyue," when Cangdi said this name, his tone was significantly more solemn than when they had been discussing the Demon Court just a moment ago. "Fellow Daoist, have you ever heard of the faction behind her?"
Lingyangzi shook his head slightly. "This poor Daoist has just arrived in the Immortal Realm and is not familiar with many things. Please, enlighten me."
Cangdi and Emperor Haotian exchanged a look.
Emperor Haotian spoke first.
"That faction is called the Wuji Dao Sect."
Emperor Haotian continued, "The Wuji Dao Sect is not located in any of the four regions of the Immortal Realm; its mountain gate exists outside the heaven and earth of the Immortal Realm, forming a world of its own."
"Its entrance is elusive. Without someone from the Dao Sect to guide you, even an Immortal Emperor would be unable to find the path."
"The Legacy of this faction has endured for far longer than the Immortal Court, the Divine Court, or the Demon Court."
"Yet, no one knows when the Wuji Dao Sect was founded. It is only known that the Dao Sect harbors many ancient secret techniques not even recorded in the Immortal Realm. If one traces the sources of the many Cultivation Techniques and Divine Abilities currently circulating in the Immortal Realm, many can be traced back to the Wuji Dao Sect."
Cangdi took over the conversation. "That faction has only one leader in each generation, passed down through the ages without interruption. Immortal Venerable Chenyue is the leader of this generation."
"She herself is at the cultivation level of an Immortal Emperor, but because of the foundation of the faction behind her, even we must lower ourselves by three degrees in her presence."
Lingyangzi listened with a calm expression, but his heart stirred slightly.
Wuji Dao Sect.
He had heard this name mentioned by his Sect elders back in the Saint Realm.
The elder's exact words were: "There is a Sect in the Immortal Realm called the Wuji Dao Sect. Its Legacy is as long-standing as our Yuan Sect. Even the Saints have mentioned its profound foundation."
Even the Saints have mentioned it.
Lingyangzi knew the weight of these five words better than anyone.
How high were the standards of a Saint? To be mentioned by a Saint was already of immense significance.
Furthermore, his Sect elder had said it was "as long-standing as our Yuan Sect."
What was the Yuan Sect?
It was one of the three great Sects of the Saint Realm, a top-tier power with a Saint presiding over it.
For an Immortal Realm Sect to have a Legacy as long as the Yuan Sect—Lingyangzi knew exactly what this implied.
The Saint Realm was vast and boundless. Apart from the three great Sects and the Buddhist Sect of the West, there were countless other Sects, clans, and Loose Cultivator factions below.
Among them, many possessed deep foundations.
For example, the Taixu Saint Sect, although it had no Saint, possessed several Grand Elders at the Great Luo Unity Realm.
Its Cultivation Techniques pointed directly to the Origin of the Dao, and it firmly ranked in the top ten among the many factions in the Saint Realm without a Saint.
But the Wuji Dao Sect was not even in the sequence of these Saint Realm factions.
It was not in the Saint Realm, yet it had been mentioned by the Saints of the Saint Realm and compared to their own Sect by the elders of the Yuan Sect.
Such a faction was like a giant beast hidden beneath the deep sea; you could not see its full picture, only the ripples on the surface.
Yet, these ripples alone were enough to make one understand.
Now, hearing the name of this faction again in the Immortal Realm from Cangdi and Emperor Haotian, Lingyangzi naturally felt a bit more solemn.
Seeing Lingyangzi lost in thought, Cangdi continued, "I don't know why Immortal Venerable Chenyue decided to attack the Buddhist Sect this time. She slapped the main gate of the Great Leiyin Temple with her palm—tsk, tsk."
At this point, Cangdi could not help but show a trace of schadenfreude on his face.
"Those bald donkeys of the Buddhist Sect are usually so arrogant; it's satisfying to see them get a beating this time."
The three of them chatted about the Buddhist Sect for a while, and the atmosphere became much more relaxed than before.
However, this relaxed atmosphere did not last long.
Rapid footsteps came from outside the hall.
A celestial general stumbled into the hall, his face pale, and he knelt on the ground.
"Your Majesty! Your Majesty! Something terrible has happened!"
Cangdi frowned. "Speak."
"The Demon Emperor! The Demon Emperor has personally taken the field!"
As soon as these words were spoken, the atmosphere in the hall changed abruptly.
Cangdi and Emperor Haotian stood up at the same time.
"What did you say?" Emperor Haotian's voice changed pitch.
The celestial general was trembling all over, but he dared not delay and poured out the military intelligence he had gathered in one breath: "Sacred Heavenly Lord Jin Yu, the Demon Emperor, has personally led the demon troops and has already recaptured the Xuanming Immortal Domain."
"The three Star Gods guarding the Xuanming Immortal Domain—the two Profound Immortal Star Gods fell on the spot, the Golden Immortal Star God was seriously injured and fled, and the hundred thousand celestial soldiers were completely wiped out!"
"The Demon Emperor used a Magic Treasure that looked like a great sun. According to the Golden Immortal Star God who escaped, that Magic Treasure had monstrous power, and the immortal arrays were like paper before it."
"Now the Demon Emperor has led the demon troops to kill towards the other Immortal Domains. His speed is extremely fast, and the front line is in urgent need!"
"Is he crazy?" Emperor Haotian muttered.
Cangdi gritted his teeth. "That old crow, how can he be so impatient?"
Emperor Haotian looked at Cangdi, and the two exchanged a look, seeing both anger and confusion in each other's eyes.
This was like playing cards.
Everyone knew that in a card game, one usually played small cards first to test the waters, one by one.
Playing a pair of threes first, then a straight, using small cards to probe the path and big cards to suppress.
How could the game just start and the opponent immediately slam down four twos and two jokers?
This wasn't failing to play cards; this was flipping the table.
The Demon Emperor's move wasn't about the game; it was about his temper.
But the problem was, the Heaven and Earth Boundless Great Tribulation was approaching. Although everyone had friction, it was all within a controllable range.
The Demon Emperor, however, had gone and personally taken the field, even showing his Lifebound Treasure.
Cangdi took a deep breath, forcibly suppressing the surging emotions in his heart.
He turned his gaze to Lingyangzi, who was sitting on the side.
"Fellow Daoist Lingyangzi, although the Demon Emperor Sacred Heavenly Lord Jin Yu's cultivation is not as high as yours, his true form is the ancient Three-Legged Golden Crow, possessing the True Fire of the Sun, and his power cannot be underestimated. Although Fellow Daoist Emperor Haotian and I do not fear him, if a real fight breaks out, I fear it will drag on for a long time."
"I wonder if Fellow Daoist could…"
Before he could finish, Lingyangzi put down his teacup.
"Fellow Daoist Cangdi, this poor Daoist came to the Lower Realm to follow the decree of my Sect to investigate clues about the vanished Middle Thousand Worlds."
"The disputes between the various factions in the Immortal Realm have nothing to do with this poor Daoist, and even less to do with my Sect."
"As the Eldest Senior Brother of this generation of the Yuan Sect, my every word and action represents the Yuan Sect."
"If I were to rashly intervene in the disputes of the Immortal Realm, I fear it would be inappropriate in the eyes of others…"
Cangdi's smile froze on his face.
He was naturally unhappy in his heart.
But he dared not say anything.
Lingyangzi was at the Great Luo Unity Realm, which was a Realm above the Immortal Emperor.
Of the three present, he, Cangdi, was an Immortal Emperor, Emperor Haotian was an Immortal Emperor, and Lingyangzi was at the Great Luo Unity Realm.
A difference of one Realm was a difference of heaven and earth.
If the other party would not help, could he force them to help?
Cangdi forced a smile. "Fellow Daoist is right; it was my thoughtlessness."
Lingyangzi nodded slightly, picked up his teacup again, and said no more.
Cangdi and Emperor Haotian exchanged another look.
Emperor Haotian whispered, "What do we do?"
Cangdi was silent for a moment, then slowly stood up.
"What else can we do?"
"Since the other party has already come to our door, can I really sit in the hall and drink tea?"
"Since that old crow is impatient and wants to personally take the field, then I will go and meet him."
"Let's see if his True Fire of the Sun is stronger, or if my methods are better."
Emperor Haotian also stood up. "I will go with you."
Cangdi nodded.
The two bowed to Lingyangzi. "Fellow Daoist, please sit in the Immortal Court for a while; we will return shortly."
Lingyangzi nodded slightly. "Take care, both of you."
Cangdi and Emperor Haotian said no more, their figures flickered, turning into two beams of immortal light, shooting straight into the sky.
