306: Chapter 307 No way? Really swallowing him?

Biyou Island, Overseas Saint Realm.

Lin Mo had been living quite restlessly these past few days.

Ever since Perfected Black Cloud gave that impassioned speech in the hall, calling upon all Disciples to enter the world and compete, Lin Mo had been plotting how to escape.

Directly refusing his Master's orders would be seeking death.

Using the excuse of going out to travel was also risky, as he feared encountering real danger on the road.

Now that the tribulation qi had completely permeated the Saint Realm, various forces were stirring. For a Golden Immortal to be alone outside, if he ran into some blind demonic cultivator or someone from a rival sect, he would have nowhere to complain if he ended up dead.

After thinking it over, staying on the island seemed the safest.

But staying on the island meant following his Master into the world to compete.

Perfected Black Cloud's words that day had been clear.

"Enter the tribulation! Fight for a sliver of life! Fight for a foundation that lasts ten thousand generations!"

Hearing such stirring rhetoric only made Lin Mo's scalp tingle with dread.

He wasn't against the Tong Sect fighting for Luck.

The Tong Sect had been in decline for too long; wanting to rise again was only human nature.

But they couldn't fight for it like this.

A group of Immortal Kings charging forward with Golden Immortal Disciples, with no Personal Disciples overseeing them and no unified deployment—how was this any different from sending themselves to their deaths?

After much deliberation, Lin Mo came up with a plan.

He would file a complaint.

Although the Tong Sect's control over the various immortal islands wasn't that strict, the upper echelons still had rules.

If someone reported an Immortal King for having ill intentions, the upper management would have to look into it.

Even if no evidence was found in the end, it could still delay things for a while.

As long as he could stall through this most dangerous period, it wouldn't be too late to make plans once the tribulation truly became clear.

And to file a complaint, he couldn't just find an ordinary Elder; he needed someone with weight.

The one Lin Mo chose was a Spirit Beast with a transcendent status in the Tong Sect—the Blue-haired Lion.

This Blue-haired Lion was no ordinary Yao Beast.

It was originally the mount subdued by the Tong Sect's Saint, Xuanyuan Tianzun, in his early years. It had followed the Saint in cultivation for countless years, and though it had not taken human form, it already possessed a cultivation at the Great Luo Unity Realm.

Its status in the Tong Sect was higher than many Personal Disciples of the Saint who were also in the Great Luo Unity Realm.

Normally, it ignored the trivial matters of the sect, only sleeping and cultivating in its own Immortal Cave.

But if someone could manage to stir it, a single word from it would be more effective than a hundred arguments between Immortal Kings.

Lin Mo found out that the Blue-haired Lion's Immortal Cave was on a solitary peak three thousand miles south of Biyou Island, so he wrote a letter and sent it there using a secret method.

The letter contained only one sentence.

"This Disciple has an important matter to report, one that concerns the survival of the Tong Sect."

He was betting that although the Blue-haired Lion didn't involve itself in worldly affairs, it still cared about the safety of the Tong Sect.

Sure enough, this morning, a streak of rosy light flew in from the horizon.

The light was multicolored and dazzling, painting half the sky like silk brocade.

The light landed and transformed into a massive Blue-haired Lion.

The lion's body was like a small mountain, covered in green mane, with every strand of hair shimmering with a metallic luster.

Its eyes were like bronze bells with golden pupils, shooting out intimidating glints as they opened and closed.

Its four hooves trod upon auspicious clouds, and the tip of its tail had a tuft of white hair that swayed gently like a whisk.

Its entire body emitted a primordial, ancient aura, as if it had existed since the beginning of heaven and earth.

Lin Mo had already been waiting on the beach. Seeing the Blue-haired Lion descend, he immediately knelt on both knees, his forehead touching the ground in an extremely respectful posture.

"Disciple Lin Mo pays his respects to Senior."

The Blue-haired Lion looked down at him and spoke in human tongue, its voice deep like muffled thunder yet carrying a lazy tone.

"You are the little Golden Immortal who sent the letter? Speak, what do you have to report? If it is nothing important and you have disturbed my peaceful slumber, I shall swallow you in one gulp."

Lin Mo's forehead was pressed against the sand, not daring to look up, but his voice was steady.

"The one this Disciple wishes to report is my Master, Perfected Black Cloud."

The Blue-haired Lion narrowed its eyes, a hint of amusement flashing in its golden pupils.

"Oh? Reporting your own Master? You have quite the nerve. Tell me, what has he done?"

Lin Mo said solemnly, "This Disciple has discovered that my Master is in collusion with the Yuan Sect."

As soon as these words were spoken, the Blue-haired Lion's eyes narrowed even further.

"The Yuan Sect? Do you have evidence?"

Lin Mo said, "In Master's Immortal Cave, this Disciple found a communication Jade Slip unique to the Yuan Sect."

"This Disciple saw the insignia on that Jade Slip while traveling abroad; I could never mistake it."

The Blue-haired Lion was silent for a moment, then its tone shifted as it spoke unhurriedly, "As a Disciple, you trespassed into your own Master's Immortal Cave. Do you know the punishment for such a crime?"

Lin Mo did not panic at all.

He had expected this question and already had a plan in mind.

"This Disciple knows his crime. However, the reason I took such a risk was truly because I had no other choice."

The Blue-haired Lion did not speak, only watching him quietly.

Lin Mo continued, "The Tong Sect once suffered greatly during a Great Tribulation; Senior knows this better than I."

"Now that the Great Tribulation has just begun and undercurrents are surging between heaven and earth, this is the most dangerous moment."

"My Master, Perfected Black Cloud, as an Immortal King, is at this time loudly proclaiming rhetoric about entering the world to compete, intending to lead the Disciples under him to actively enter the tribulation."

He paused, his tone becoming even more earnest.

"I joined the Tong Sect not only to seek peace in my own cultivation but also hoping our Jie Sect would dominate the heavens, but my Master..."

"I dare not say Master has ill intentions, but I have investigated privately. The True Disciples and even Personal Disciples of the Tong Sect's upper echelons have not truly issued any orders to enter the world and compete."

"Those currently clamoring to enter the world are merely some Immortal King-level Disciples who want to establish merit and build a legacy."

"Just like my Master, Perfected Black Cloud."

After Lin Mo finished speaking, his forehead touched the ground again, and he said no more.

The Blue-haired Lion remained silent, its massive body motionless.

After a long while, it finally spoke slowly.

"You are saying that you feel the Tong Sect should not fight for this Luck?"

Lin Mo looked up, meeting the Blue-haired Lion's gaze without being overbearing or servile.

"I am not saying we shouldn't fight, but that the time has not yet come."

"Fighting for Luck should be done gradually, slowly, with rhythm, and only after being fully prepared. It cannot be done blindly."

"Currently, with no Personal Disciples leading the way and no unified deployment, charging forward based solely on the enthusiasm of a group of Immortal Kings is not fighting for Luck; it is seeking death."

He paused, then added another sentence.

"To fight, we must have a big brother leading—ah, no, I mean, we must have Personal Disciples leading the way."

The Blue-haired Lion did not ask any more questions.

It fell into a long silence.

Lin Mo continued to kneel, his forehead pressed to the sand, unmoving.

He was waiting.

Waiting for the Blue-haired Lion to make a decision.

He didn't know how much effect his words would have.

But he knew he had done his best.

Even if he ultimately had to follow his Master to his death, at least he had tried to change things.

The Blue-haired Lion gave a light chuckle, then slowly lowered its head, its massive skull approaching Lin Mo.

That large mouth opened slightly, revealing two rows of forest-white fangs.

Lin Mo's heart tightened, but he didn't move.

He knew that if the Blue-haired Lion wanted to kill him, he wouldn't even have room to resist.

Rather than struggling, he would rather take a gamble.

The Blue-haired Lion's mouth opened even wider.

And then—

It swallowed Lin Mo in one gulp.

Lin Mo only felt his vision go dark, and the sound of whistling wind reached his ears as his whole body felt like it was falling into an abyss.

He had only one thought in his mind.

No way? You're actually swallowing me?
