49: Chapter 49 JK Wang Churan [

White shirt, blue plaid skirt.

The mid-calf socks reached just below the knees; two fingers' width above was the skirt hem, and two fingers' width below was the sock edge. The section in between didn't reveal anything, yet it made it impossible to look away.

Yu Liang couldn't help but marvel. He didn't know who invented the JK uniform, but it forced one's focus automatically—it was simply heaven-defying.

Wang Churan stood before him, her long black hair draped over her white shirt. Sunlight hit from behind her, casting a pale golden glow along the edges of her strands. Perhaps because she had worn crew costumes for too long, she seemed unaccustomed to this outfit; she subconsciously tugged at her skirt hem, then looked up and smiled at him.

"Let's go," Wang Churan said.

Before this, Yu Liang had been somewhat reluctant; after all, in his view, two actors spending their day off watching a movie was the equivalent of working overtime. But now, seeing Wang Churan in this outfit, he instantly felt, "Hmm~ this overtime, it's totally worth it!"

"Let's go," Yu Liang said.

Yu Liang and Wang Churan went to the Wanda Cinema in West Hengdian.

It was summer vacation, and in the afternoon, the cinema was packed with people. Wearing masks, Yu Liang and Wang Churan stood in the crowd; looking around, most were young couples in pairs.

A young couple walked arm-in-arm, the guy talking incessantly about his experiences on set.

"The head of the camera crew said they'd call me for the next production. I've really established myself this time."

The girl smiled without replying, just tightening her grip on the guy's arm.

Yu Liang glanced at them. The collar of the guy's T-shirt was washed out of shape, but he wore a mechanical watch that was a very convincing imitation. The girl's makeup was exquisite, her eyelashes brushed to individual perfection, and while her bag wasn't a major luxury brand, it was an entry-level piece from a light luxury line.

The classic Hengdian recipe. The pairing of female and male extras was never equal. Their gaze habitually looked upward, seeking out production leads, minor actors, or local bosses.

The guy in front of them was desperately showing off his "room for advancement," while the girl was cautiously placing her bets.

You understand my feigned reserve, and I understand your ulterior motives.

In Yu Liang's view, the ambiguous atmosphere the two created wasn't youthful infatuation, but a state of "maybe we will, maybe we won't."

"What's wrong?" Wang Churan glanced at Yu Liang.

"Nothing," Yu Liang said, averting his gaze.

After collecting their tickets, he checked the time. "There's still a while before ticket inspection. Do you want to get something to drink?"

Wang Churan hesitated.

"How about milk tea?" Yu Liang pointed to a milk tea shop next to the elevator entrance.

"But drinking milk tea makes you gain weight easily," Wang Churan frowned.

Yu Liang smiled. "It's just one cup. Besides, you look good even if you gain some weight."

Wang Churan didn't respond, but the tips of her ears turned slightly red.

"Then I want cheese foam milk tea," she pointed at the shop. "I want to drink from that one."

The two stood on the escalator going down. Yu Liang looked up at the shop name—Answer.

This was a very popular milk tea shop in 2018 that gained fame for its "milk tea plus fortune telling" gimmick. Customers would write a question on the cup sleeve, and after the staff scanned a code, the system would randomly generate a sentence printed on the milk foam. Peeling off the sticker would reveal the answer.

Stepping off the escalator, Wang Churan trotted over to place her order, then turned and specifically instructed Yu Liang, "You are not allowed to peek."

Then, she leaned over the counter and seriously wrote a few words on the cup sleeve.

After finishing, she looked back at Yu Liang again. "Aren't you getting one?"

Yu Liang shook his head. He couldn't handle anything that cloying; he rarely drank milk tea on a daily basis. Among drinks, he drank Mizone more often.

Yu Liang said with a smile, "If you have something you want to ask, why not just ask me? I can give you a reading on the spot; it might be more accurate than the machine."

"Who would want to ask you?" Wang Churan rolled her eyes at him and turned away.

She took the milk tea from the staff, carefully peeled back a corner of the lid, and leaned in to look at the text on top. Yu Liang silently leaned in, and she hurriedly covered the lid, nearly jumping in surprise.

"Aiya, what are you doing! How annoying!"

"Alright, alright, I won't look," Yu Liang said, raising his hands in surrender. "The movie is about to start, let's go."

The two took the escalator back up to the fourth floor. Yu Liang scanned a code to grab a bottle of Mizone, thought for a moment, and then ordered an extra portion of popcorn.

"Let's go." With Mizone in one hand and popcorn in the other, he handed the ticket stubs to the smiling usher. When she saw the two of them, her gaze couldn't help but linger for a second—the two people in front of her wearing masks had figures and auras that were different from those around them. She couldn't quite put her finger on it, but they just had a "star quality."

Perhaps it was because their heights and figures were too outstanding. The usher shook her head, smiling as she gestured, "Handsome and beautiful, please go in. Go straight through the door to Hall 7."

The lights in the cinema hall were very dim. Yu Liang glanced around; the seats were more than half full. He didn't like sitting right in the middle, so he chose a seat near the inside of the second-to-last row. There weren't many people in this row, only two people sitting by the aisle on the other side.

The two sat down, the lights went out, and the screen lit up.

Wang Churan looked left and right, and seeing no one nearby, she finally took off her mask. She cradled the milk tea, pressed her small lips against the rim, took a sip of the cheese foam, and squinted her eyes in satisfaction.

The movie slowly began. White subtitles appeared line by line on the black screen, with cheerful Indian music playing in the background. Immediately after, a disheveled Xu Zheng appeared in his Indian God Oil shop.

The film continued until the scene where Liu Sihui, played by Tan Zhuo, wore a spaghetti-strap mini skirt and danced provocatively on a pole.

Then came the scene forty minutes in. Sihui said, "You sit first, I'm going to take a shower." Her tone was ambiguous.

Xu Zheng was nervous and excited, fixing his hair and taking off his jacket, his face full of anticipation.

On the screen, Tan Zhuo came out after her shower, wearing silk spaghetti-strap pajamas with exquisite makeup. She sat on Cheng Yong's lap and initiated a kiss.

Wang Churan's face was already flushed. Under the guise of picking up her milk tea, she snuck a glance at Yu Liang, only to meet his gaze directly.

"Why aren't you watching the movie? Why do you keep looking at me?" She turned her face back toward the screen, her voice low, as if muttering.

Thank goodness, thank goodness that little girl appeared. Wang Churan breathed a sigh of relief inwardly. When she said she wanted to watch this movie, she hadn't expected this kind of plot. If something had actually happened on screen while she and Yu Liang were sitting here, it really would have been impossible to explain.

"Just watch the movie," she whispered.

"Okay," Yu Liang said, averting his gaze and pushing the popcorn toward her.

Wang Churan didn't speak; then, a hand silently reached over and grabbed a few pieces.

In the movie, Sihui's daughter appeared at the door wearing a fever patch, staring coldly at Cheng Yong.

Cheng Yong instantly sobered up. Seeing the wall full of photos of Sihui and her daughter, it was as if he'd been doused with a bucket of cold water. He hurriedly got up and left under a pretext.

Watching that abruptly halted ambiguity, Yu Liang once wondered if he was watching a censored version.

No, once he became famous, he would ask Ning Hao and Xu Zheng for the uncensored version.

However, just as Yu Liang was marveling at this, he noticed a girl's low gasp suddenly coming from not far behind him.

Wang Churan couldn't help but freeze, asking curiously, "What was that sound?"

"It's nothing," Yu Liang said, covering Wang Churan's eyes with his hand.

He cast a glance toward the back right with his peripheral vision.

It turned out to be the young couple he had seen earlier.

Hmm, bodies swaying in clothes, movements never the same.

Although the two hadn't done anything truly wild, they were doing their best to restrain themselves.

But you're ruining the movie for me!

Yu Liang coughed twice, and the movements behind him quieted down slightly.

Yu Liang thought that if the other party continued to be so unbridled, he wouldn't mind joining in; after all, someone had to take a photo for them.

Besides, he had only seen it with his own eyes, but he had never filmed it with his own hands before.
