78: Five people

Su Ze still had a deep impression of this magnificent teacher; although he had only attended one of her classes, her fierce teaching style was truly unforgettable.

"Principal Xiao Xu? Why is he looking for me?" Su Ze asked in confusion.

Chen Xin replied, "I don't know either. I just happened to pass by his office door, and he asked me to bring you a message."

"And the principal didn't just call you; all those top senior students are there. Those guys have clearly met the graduation requirements and are even more powerful than me, but they just refuse to leave..."

She then suddenly realized that although Su Ze had only recently enrolled, he also belonged to that category of people, so she stopped complaining.

"Oh?" Su Ze raised an eyebrow. If all the top senior students were there, Zhu Zhi would likely be among them.

If that was the case, Xiao Xu was very likely selecting people to participate in this so-called Beast Taming Grand Competition.

Since he, a first-year freshman, was also favored by Xiao Xu, then Zhu Zhi's earlier actions must have been an attempt to test his strength and see if he would be a threat in the Grand Competition.

In truth, Su Ze wasn't very interested in this so-called Beast Taming Grand Competition that showcased the strength of the younger generation. As the saying goes, the bird that sticks its head out gets shot, and the tallest tree in the forest is the first to be toppled by the wind.

If one performed too brilliantly, life would likely never be peaceful again, and one might face assassination attempts from others wherever they went.

However, the prize Lin Xi had mentioned earlier was very attractive to Su Ze, giving him a reason he couldn't refuse.

In the underground space, he had learned the truth about his parents' disappearance and the impending disaster this world faced from Lin Xi.

Judging from the use of divine beast corpses as anchors, the number of divine beasts in the Monster Beast World should be quite substantial.

Yet the Human World currently lacked even a single combatant of the same level, which made Su Ze feel very insecure.

Feng Qingyi's bloodline was already among the best of the Diamond-rank Demonic Beasts, and after using the Dragon Flame seed to further enhance it, she would surely be able to go one step further.

If he added this wutong fruit, would she rival a Pure-blooded Phoenix?!

Only by possessing a divine beast could Su Ze have some form of security in the future invasion of the Monster Beast World.

As for whether the system could produce a divine beast level demon beast egg... Su Ze didn't doubt it, because in the gacha machine, there were some demon beast eggs even rarer than diamond eggs, each with its own unique lustre; he guessed those were divine beast eggs.

However, the odds of drawing one were simply too low, and Su Ze didn't like leaving his fate entirely to the heavens.

So, Su Ze didn't decline and went with Chen Xin to find Xiao Xu.

To his surprise, Xu Yao insisted on coming along no matter what.

Thinking that no matter how much Zhu Zhi wanted to test him, he probably wouldn't make a move in front of the principal, Su Ze didn't refuse.

Behind the two of them, Xu Yao would look at Chen Xin's broad bosom one moment and then look down at herself the next.

Then she just lowered her head and sighed.

She was clearly a force to be reckoned with among her peers, so how could she still suffer a total defeat when meeting a mature woman?

Was it really necessary for lethal weapons of that scale to exist in this world?

Along the way, Chen Xin asked Su Ze many questions: "Student Su Ze, there are rumors everywhere that your Diamond-rank Spirit Beast is gone. Is that true?"

Chen Xin spoke somewhat anxiously; she desperately hoped this news wasn't true because successfully breeding a Diamond-rank Demonic Beast could be said to be her ultimate goal.

And the only person she could come into contact with who had a Diamond-rank Spirit Beast was Su Ze.

But to her despair, Su Ze nodded and confirmed the news.

He wasn't lying anyway; Feng Qingyi had indeed died, she had just undergone Nirvana.

Chen Xin sighed with regret, feeling as if her whole being had deflated.

She began to chat with Su Ze half-heartedly: "Student Su Ze, I heard the principal say your father is Researcher Su Lin?"

"That's right. Does Teacher Chen know my father?" Su Ze asked curiously.

Chen Xin looked only about six or seven years older than himself, so she shouldn't have been his father's classmate or colleague. What was their relationship then?

Chen Xin replied, "I can't say I know him. I'm familiar with Researcher Su Lin, but he probably didn't know me."

"My research direction in university was the breeding and origins of demonic beasts, so I have studied the papers published by your father; his explanation of the origin of demonic beasts is very clear and methodical."

"When the academic world basically agreed that demonic beasts were not native to this world and began discussing whether their arrival was due to invasion, accidental entry, or world collision, he pointed out that these three points are not mutually exclusive."

"Because the Human World collided with the Monster Beast World, it gave demonic beasts the opportunity to enter the Human World."

"Some of them actively launched invasions, with a large number of demonic beasts harboring malice toward humans pouring in to conquer the Human World; the so-called Beast Tides were created because of this."

"Others were simply lost; the first batch of demonic beasts to enter the Human World should have been like this. They weren't all malicious and were willing to cooperate and coexist with humans, and thus the Beast Tamers were born."

"His views were detailed and reasonable, and everyone was waiting for him to publish his second paper to provide the evidence to support these views, but they never came, not until his accident..."

"So this academic storm subsided before it could fully break out..." Chen Xin sighed with considerable regret.

Su Ze knew that was because after that, his parents had devoted all their energy to researching how to destroy the anchors, completely putting aside the academic research they had once loved.

During their conversation, the three of them had unknowingly arrived at the Administrative Building.

Watching the two of them chatting so happily while she couldn't understand a thing and couldn't get a word in, Xu Yao felt frustrated once again.

After entering the Administrative Building, only Su Ze was going to the principal's office on the top floor.

Xu Yao continued to the teacher's office with Chen Xin, glaring at that pair of things with an unfriendly gaze the whole way.

The moment she walked into her father's office, she said to Xu Yiming, "Dad, what was Uncle Su Lin's research direction back then? Hurry up and teach me!"

"Ah? Why? You've never been this interested in my own research!"

...On the other side, Su Ze also arrived at the principal's office and walked in after knocking on the door.

Just as Chen Xin had said, besides Xiao Xu in the main seat, there were five young people in their early twenties sitting there drinking the Kung Fu tea Xiao Xu had brewed.

"Alright, everyone is here now!" Xiao Xu said, standing up and clapping his hands after seeing Su Ze.

"This Su Ze is the candidate I told you about who I want to add in, but... except for the Imperial Capital Beast Taming University, our other four universities only have five competition slots each."

"Now it seems there's one person too many, so... who wants to quit?" There was a hint of mischief hidden in Xiao Xu's smile.

As soon as he finished speaking, a slightly chubby person among the five slammed his teacup onto the table with a 'thud' and said loudly, "Principal Xiao Xu, he's just a first-year freshman. Is he worthy of participating in the Beast Taming Grand Competition with us?!"
