90: Injury

"I lost..." Su Ze panted, holding the void spirit shield in one hand and stabbing a long blade shaped like a black crescent moon into the ground with the other.

Opposite him stood Liu Yiyi, ranked third. She was drenched by the water jets she had fired, her clothes clinging to her body and revealing her fine figure.

Liu Yiyi said, "You've improved again. This balanced offense and defense is much harder to deal with than I expected. If you could maintain Beast Spirit Weaponization for a bit longer, I might not be your match anymore."

Su Ze merely smiled, neither confirming nor denying her words.

During these past few days, Su Ze had remained here to spar with everyone while learning various beast-taming combat techniques.

Su Ze also recognized his current strength; at most, he could only rank fourth among the five of them.

And this was just at Azure Dragon Beast Taming University. One had to keep in mind that the students of Imperial Capital Beast Taming University were far stronger than those of the other four universities.

Because of this, while the other four universities only had five slots for the Grand Competition, Imperial Capital Beast Taming University had a full ten!

Therefore, if he wanted to win the championship, Su Ze's current strength was far from enough, unless Feng Qingyi could complete her Nirvana before the Grand Competition began.

Su Ze also noticed that these people were actually holding back during their spars; clearly, they all viewed the others as competitors.

That was why he had remained noncommittal during Liu Yiyi's polite remarks.

Su Ze released his grip, allowing the crescent blade and void spirit shield to return to their original forms.

His Spiritual Power level was still a bit too low. The higher the rank of the demonic beast weaponized, the more Spiritual Power it consumed during use.

That was why Liu Yiyi said he might have won if he could have held out a bit longer.

For others, high-level beast spirits were hard to come by, but Spiritual Power levels could be slowly cultivated over time.

For Su Ze, it was the opposite. If he wanted a high-level beast spirit, he just had to hatch one, but his Spiritual Power level increased much more slowly in comparison.

However, this 'slow' was only relative; a beast taming level of thirty at his age was already record-breaking.

"Alright, that's enough sparring for today. Everyone, go back and rest!" Kuang Yi walked over and said while clapping his hands.

These five people were only together because of the Grand Competition, so they all let their strength do the talking.

Kuang Yi was the strongest, so everyone followed his arrangements.

After packing his things and leaving, Su Ze first went to meet Xu Yao.

The news of him defeating Zhu Zhi had already spread. Although everyone had confirmed that Su Ze had lost his Diamond-rank Demonic Beast,

they also knew he still had a platinum-level demonic beast and was still powerful.

As a result, no one dared to target Xu Yao anymore.

Xu Yao was very happy to see Su Ze.

Although Su Ze was still a freshman, he was completely different from other students.

He had to prepare for the Beast Taming Grand Competition and was also a Detachment Commander for the Great Xia Spirit Guards.

Once he got busy, Xu Yao wouldn't see a trace of him for several days.

After spending a class break with Xu Yao, the two parted ways again reluctantly.

Xu Yao returned to her classroom, while Su Ze thought for a moment and headed to the camp.

He had been an absentee boss for so many days that he had to go back and check in.

But as soon as he walked in, he noticed something was wrong.

Several Spirit Guards were injured, and some had bloodshot eyes, looking so enraged they seemed ready to tear someone apart.

Shouhou and his group suffered for it, not daring to stop working for even a moment.

"What on earth happened while I was away?" Su Ze approached Sun Hao and asked.

"Sigh..." Sun Hao let out a sigh and then said with great sorrow, "A few Beast Tamer criminals have appeared these past few days. Despite being Beast Tamers, they are harming ordinary people."

"At first, we didn't think much of it and sent a few team members to deal with them. As it turned out, they were very strong and actually escaped after wounding our people."

"Afterward, they became even more insane. Even the families of several team members were injured. Sigh... fortunately, no one died." At the end, he sighed with bloodshot eyes.

Even though no one had died, it felt more like a warning. Who knew if they would go for the kill next time?

Beside him, Su Ze clenched his fists in anger. He hated people who targeted families the most.

Especially since they, as Great Xia Spirit Guards, shed their blood to protect the country and its people.

Yet they couldn't even protect their own families in the end—what a cruel irony?

"Are these people related to the Jiang Family?" Su Ze immediately had a suspect in mind.

But Sun Hao shook his head and said, "Unclear. These people all wear masks or face coverings."

Su Ze spat, "So shameful they can't show their faces. It must be those bastards. I really thought they had settled down!"

Just then, new information came in.

A Beast Tamer was using a beast to harm people on White Tree Street, and several casualties had already been reported.

As soon as the news spread, several Spirit Guards couldn't sit still—their homes were on White Tree Street!

Su Ze stood up at that moment and said, "Don't worry, everyone. I'll go deal with those guys!"

Hearing this, Sun Hao grabbed Su Ze with his single arm and whispered, "What if this is the Jiang Family forcing you to show yourself?"

Su Ze signaled him not to worry, "It's fine. As long as we're within the vicinity of Beishan City, they can't do anything to me!"

He then summoned the Shadow Moon Wolf King, mounted its back, and raced toward White Tree Street.

Sun Hao also led a team to follow behind him.

On White Tree Street, a massive wild boar was running rampant.

As far as the eye could see, houses and vehicles had been destroyed by its long Tusks.

The white Tusks were already stained red, clearly having caused casualties.

After using its Tusks like a can opener to rip the roof off a car, its bloodshot eyes spotted a mother and daughter inside.

"Haha, Tusk, trample them wantonly! Flatten them all for me, mince them!"

Its master, wearing a demon mask, laughed wildly nearby, his eyes behind the mask equally bloodshot.

The boar exhaled a foul stench onto the mother and daughter's faces. Terror left them speechless, and tears flowed uncontrollably.

Just as its Tusks were about to pierce their bodies, a black crescent blade was thrown, instantly severing both of its Tusks.

Before it could even erupt in rage, the black chain behind the blade wrapped around the mother and daughter. With a sudden jerk of tension, they were pulled back by the black chain.

"This strike breaks your beast's teeth; the next one will take your head!"

Su Ze set the mother and daughter down, stood in front of them, and picked up the black crescent blade as he spoke to the masked man.

"Hehe... you're here, you're finally here..." Seeing Su Ze, the masked man appeared even more excited, with a joy that seemed like a form of relief.
