37: Misty forest, a natural maze
The Misty Forest is located in the southern suburbs of Jianghai City.
The Professionals Hall branch here was even more deserted and desolate than any other place Lin Feng had visited before.
This was because the Misty Forest dungeon was notoriously known as the “discouragement” dungeon among all Level 5 dungeons.
Its difficulty didn't lie in the strength of the monsters, but in its extremely unpleasant environment.
The perpetual dense fog made the visibility throughout the forest terrifyingly low.
Players inside couldn't see the path ahead after walking less than ten meters, making it very easy to get lost.
Moreover, the forest's terrain was complex, filled with identical towering trees and dense bushes, making it impossible to find any landmarks for reference.
Many teams that entered weren't defeated by monsters but were driven to mental breakdown by endlessly circling inside, eventually forced to crush their Town Portal Scrolls and escape in a sorry state.
Over time, apart from teams with special quests or “veterans” with rich outdoor survival experience, very few ordinary players were willing to suffer in this place.
So, when Lin Feng arrived alone at the teleportation gate leading to the Misty Forest,
He found that there wasn't even a single person queuing.
Only the NPC staff member responsible for guarding the teleportation gate was leaning back in his chair, yawning boredly.
“Hello, I want to enter the dungeon,” Lin Feng stepped forward and said.
The staff member lifted his eyelids, glanced at him, then at his young face and ordinary equipment, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes.
“Young man, alone? Coming to clear the Misty Forest?”
“Yes,” Lin Feng nodded.
“I advise you to reconsider,” the staff member kindly reminded him, “This place isn't easy. Every year, there are at least eighty or ninety newbies who get lost in here and end up crying for us to rescue them.”
“Don't worry, uncle, my sense of direction is excellent,” Lin Feng replied with a smile.
He, of course, knew the troubles of the Misty Forest.
But for him, who possessed the God-level Hint,
The so-called “maze” simply didn't exist.
Seeing Lin Feng's insistence, the staff member stopped trying to persuade him.
He just shook his head, muttered, “Young people nowadays really don't listen to advice,” and then lazily activated the teleportation gate for Lin Feng... The white light dissipated.
A damp air, mixed with the smell of earth and rotting leaves, entered Lin Feng's nostrils.
Before him was a vast expanse of dense white fog.
The visibility was indeed less than ten meters.
All around him were huge ancient trees, almost identical, requiring two or three people to embrace.
Underfoot was a thick, soft layer of fallen leaves.
The surroundings were eerily quiet.
He could only hear his own heartbeat and the occasional, eerie cries of unknown beasts from afar.
This environment indeed easily created a sense of oppression and panic.
However, Lin Feng's heart was as calm as water.
Because, the moment he entered the dungeon,
A “3D holographic map,” visible only to him and composed of countless golden arrows and lines, had quietly appeared in his field of vision.
God-level Hint: You have entered the 'Misty Forest'. 'Full Map Navigation' mode has been automatically activated for you.
God-level Hint: The optimal route to the final BOSS area has been planned for you. Please follow the golden arrows.
God-level Hint: The locations of all hidden treasure chests and elite monsters on this map have been marked for you. Please check carefully.
Looking at the clear route map before him, which was comparable to top-tier navigation software, Lin Feng couldn't help but curve his lips into a slight smile.
A maze?
Doesn't exist.
For him, this was just a one-way street.
“Alright, let's get to work.”
Lin Feng stretched, then summoned his three capable generals.
The Fire Elemental Slime, emitting scorching heat.
The Wind Elemental Slime, surrounded by a light breeze.
And the Frost Slime King, radiating a kingly aura.
The three elemental Slimes, each with a distinct style but equally powerful, dispelled some of the surrounding dense fog as soon as they appeared.
“Xiao Bing, clear the way.”
“Xiao Huo, Xiao Feng, guard the flanks.”
Lin Feng gave simple commands.
Now, his summoned creature army was beginning to take shape.
He could even start playing with “tactical formations.”
The Frost Slime King, with high HP and defense, and a built-in damage reduction aura, was the undisputed “main T,” responsible for taking the front.
The Fire Elemental Slime was a ranged artillery, responsible for violent output.
The Wind Elemental Slime was a high-speed assassin, responsible for reconnaissance and harassment.
Plus Lin Feng, the commander with a “God's Eye View.”
This combination was simply perfect!
He took a step, unhurriedly following the perfectly clear golden arrow in his vision, walking deeper into the forest.
After walking about a few dozen meters,
God-level Hint: Attention! Hidden in the bushes fifteen meters to your front right is a Level 7 'Poisonous Flower Fairy' (Judu Huayao). It is preparing to ambush you!
It's here!
Lin Feng's eyes instantly sharpened.
He didn't even look at the bush.
Instead, he directly gave the attack command in his mind.
“Xiao Huo, front right, fifteen meters, bushes, maximum power, Fireball, carpet bombing!”
The Fire Elemental Slime, upon receiving the order, did not hesitate.
Its body, made of magma, churned.
A huge Fireball, burning with fierce flames, instantly condensed and, carrying a destructive aura, whistled and smashed heavily into that seemingly unremarkable bush!
Boom—!
A violent explosion shattered the forest's silence!
The scorching flames instantly engulfed the bush, along with whatever was inside!
“Chirp—!”
A shrill and brief shriek came from the flames, then abruptly ceased.
Ding! Your summoned creature has killed a Level 7 Elite 'Poisonous Flower Fairy' (Judu Huayao). You gained 200 experience points.
The battle ended before the enemy even had a chance to show its face.
Lin Feng didn't even glance at the still-burning bush, continuing to walk forward, following the golden arrow.
It was as if he had simply stepped on an ant, easy and casual.
