273: Zhuang Siwei's visit

“Haha, even though I’m old, I’m a good judge of character. You’re destined to achieve great things in the future.”

Old He didn’t know if he genuinely admired Zhuang Sanming, but he certainly expressed enough appreciation.

Zhuang Sanming smiled and didn’t reply.

Old He didn’t press the issue; he was enjoying himself so much, relaxing in his reclining chair. Chatting was fine, but not chatting was also fine.

Soon, Xiao Shen returned, carrying a full basket of vegetables.

“Brother Sanming, these are all the vegetables you wanted. Check if it’s enough.”

Zhuang Sanming looked at the overflowing basket of vegetables, quickly took it, and said, “Enough, enough! Thank you so much. Otherwise, I really might not have been able to buy any vegetables today. I’ll go back and cook now. See you next time.”

“Alright, take care then.” Xiao Shen didn’t try to keep him, walking a few steps with him before returning.

“You’re quite kind,” Old He said, sitting up and addressing Xiao Shen, who had just returned.

“Brother Sanming, he’s had a very hard life,” Xiao Shen sighed.

Old He smiled helplessly, “Aren’t you?”

Xiao Shen froze.

Thinking about it carefully, he actually… also had a very hard life.

Even now, he still didn’t know who his birth parents were.

Were they still alive?

He had been adopted by the Xiao Family since he was young, and before that incident, he truly believed that Father Xiao and his son were his only family.

“A person in a high position should have a heart of compassion and pity,” Old He suddenly said, out of the blue.

“A person in a high position?” Xiao Shen scratched his head, puzzled. “Old man, who are you talking about?”

Old He glanced at him, then turned his head away and said nothing more.

Xiao Shen wasn’t annoyed. Instead, he took out the wine he had bought for himself when he was helping Zhuang Sanming buy vegetables. He opened the cap, and the aroma of wine instantly wafted out.

“Wine?!”

Old He’s eyes immediately lit up.

He turned his head to stare at the wine bottle in Xiao Shen’s hand, his eyes gleaming.

Xiao Shen didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, “Here you go.”

Old He was usually inscrutable, as if everything was within his control, but as soon as he encountered wine, he would turn into a drunken old man, no different from other old men.

“Hahaha, you’re still the sensible one, kid!”

Old He couldn’t wait to drink. He took out his prepared wine glass and filled it to the brim.

Xiao Shen thought he wanted company for a drink, so he also took out a wine glass.

However, Old He directly put the cap back on the wine bottle: “I’ll drink by myself, you don’t need to keep me company.”

Xiao Shen shook his head helplessly… “Why are you back so late? Did something happen on the way?”

At the Su Family home, as soon as Zhuang Sanming entered, Father Su asked with concern.

“No, I just walked a bit slowly.” Zhuang Sanming didn’t tell Father Su about the strange occurrences, not wanting to worry him.

“Oh, then come in quickly.”

Father Su looked up, not asking further questions.

The two were about to start cooking when they noticed an uninvited guest had appeared at their doorstep at some point.

“Cousin, you’re here! Perfect, I haven’t eaten yet. You don’t mind if I freeload a meal at your place, do you?”

Zhuang Siwei swaggered into the Su Family’s front door. Seeing Zhuang Sanming washing vegetables, he said with his chin held high.

“What are you doing here?” Zhuang Sanming frowned deeply.

Zhuang Siwei was his cousin, related through Zhuang Sanming’s father’s side.

They were still cousins, but they weren’t considered relatives of the Su Family.

Normally, Zhuang Siwei wouldn’t come to the Su Family to find him, and certainly wouldn’t come to freeload a meal at the Su Family so arrogantly.

“Cousin, I’m your younger brother. Do I need to explain why I’m here to see you?” Zhuang Siwei simply plopped himself down on the living room sofa, not like a guest, but more like a master of the house.

“Sanming, who’s here?” Father Su came out of the kitchen, hearing the commotion.

Zhuang Sanming put down the vegetables in his hand and frowned at Zhuang Siwei, saying, “You’re not welcome here. Please leave.”

Zhuang Sanming knew very well what kind of person Zhuang Siwei was.

Such a significant event as Su Duo’s burial, and Zhuang Siwei didn’t come to help. Instead, he wanted to freeload a meal that very evening.

Who gave him the audacity??

Father Su saw it was Zhuang Siwei and didn’t intervene.

He let Zhuang Sanming handle it completely.

“Cousin, I just wanted to freeload a meal. Is that not allowed?” Zhuang Siwei had no intention of leaving. Zhuang Sanming’s dislike for him wasn’t new, and he was shameless, so what could Zhuang Sanming do to him?

In the past, he always ridiculed Zhuang Sanming, saying he was a wild child with no parents, and Zhuang Sanming never talked back.

It was Su Duo who would scold him mercilessly every time, and he could never win an argument with her.

Now it was better; Su Duo was dead.

Without Su Duo’s help, wasn’t it easy to manipulate Zhuang Sanming?

“No.” Zhuang Sanming didn’t bother with Zhuang Siwei before because he felt it wasn’t necessary, but now, he wouldn’t let anyone who might threaten the Su Family elders get away with it.

Zhuang Siwei was clearly stunned, evidently not expecting Zhuang Sanming to be so firm.

“Please leave, or don’t blame me for being ruthless.” Zhuang Sanming walked up to Zhuang Siwei and looked down at him.

Although Zhuang Siwei was sitting and Zhuang Sanming was standing, no one could ignore the intimidating aura emanating from Zhuang Sanming. Instead, it was the slouching Zhuang Siwei who was at a disadvantage.

“Cousin, you…”

Zhuang Siwei quickly stood up. Being stared at like this by Zhuang Sanming, he instinctively wanted to tremble.

The current Zhuang Sanming was no longer the Zhuang Sanming of the past. He had experienced the great battle with the Axe Gang, and his aura was already extraordinary.

Normally, he didn’t show it, but once he lost control, it could intimidate small-time characters like Zhuang Siwei.

“I’ll say it again, get out.” Zhuang Sanming’s tone was flat, but Zhuang Siwei couldn’t ignore his piercing gaze.

“I… I…”

Zhuang Siwei was so scared that he took a step back, almost bumping into the sofa and falling.

“Then Cousin, I’ll come find you next time!” After saying this, he took off running, escaping from the living room and out the front door in just a few seconds.

After running a long distance, Zhuang Siwei finally stopped to catch his breath, then muttered in confusion, “What the hell, why am I afraid of him?”

Zhuang Siwei returned home, and as soon as he entered, his father saw him: “Why are you back so quickly? Didn’t I tell you to stay there for dinner and observe the situation?”

Zhuang Siwei dared to be rude to Zhuang Sanming and talk back to him before, but to his own father, he could only bow his head.

There was no other way; his father really would beat him!

“Zhuang Sanming kicked me out,” Zhuang Siwei said with a drooping face. “He wouldn’t let me stay there.”

“How is that possible?”

Father Zhuang frowned deeply and scolded, “You must not have spoken to him properly, causing him to misunderstand you, right?”

Zhuang Siwei recalled the whole process, and it seemed that was indeed the case.

“Hmm…”

“You unfilial son! Didn’t I tell you to be polite when you’re at the Su Family’s house? Even if you’re not convinced in your heart, you have to hold it in and not let anyone see it. How could you, how could you…”
