28: Chapter 28 Luo Fuyi

"Is this brother a highly accomplished Disciple of the Qingwei Sword Sect?" A pleasantly surprised young voice came from behind.

Yu Xiu turned to look and found a young woman carrying a sword and a saber on her back. Her thick long hair was tied up, making her look fresh and capable. She had straight, long legs and an excellent figure. Her face was fair with pleasing features, and she was dressed in a black martial outfit that fully displayed her heroic and spirited demeanor.

"Oh!" Seeing Yu Xiu turn around, the woman's clear eyes paused on his face for a moment. She praised him inwardly, 'This is the kind of Sword Cultivator I have in mind—free and unrestrained, walking the world with a sword.'

"Is there something you need?" Yu Xiu asked, puzzled.

If one encountered demons or evil spirits within the territory of Yan Province, there would be no problem seeking help from the Qingwei Sword Sect.

But if it were any other matter, the Qingwei Sword Sect had its own set of rules; local affairs were not the concern of the Sect's Disciples.

"No, nothing at all. It's just that I've long yearned for the Qingwei Sword Sect, so..." The young woman waved her hands repeatedly, yet she still couldn't hide the excitement in her eyes.

"If there's nothing, I'm leaving." Yu Xiu did not wait for her to finish and walked away.

People's hearts are hard to read; when traveling abroad, trusting others too easily is the greatest taboo.

Although this was Yan Province, under the jurisdiction of the Qingwei Sword Sect, being cautious would never be a mistake.

Furthermore, he had already changed out of his Qingwei Sword Sect Inner Courtyard Disciple attire, yet this person had still recognized him.

"Wait! Are you going to Yunshan Cliff? Let's go together!" The woman chased after him again.

Yu Xiu ignored her, so she began talking to herself: "A few years ago, I also wanted to join the Qingwei Sword Sect, but unfortunately, the Sect said my talent for the Dao of the sword was poor and turned me away."

She smiled confidently: "But I don't think so. Now that my swordsmanship has reached a decent level, my Master says I already possess the bearing of a Master."

She looked at Yu Xiu again: "I have met many Disciples of the Qingwei Sword Sect traveling abroad, and their swordsmanship is not as good as mine, but I can tell your swordsmanship must be very high. Could you..."

Before she could finish, Yu Xiu stopped in his tracks: "How do you know my swordsmanship is high?"

Up until now, everyone who had seen him strike was already dead.

The heroic and spirited woman looked at Yu Xiu's face and said matter-of-factly: "I can tell just by looking with my eyes!"

"..." Yu Xiu said: "My swordsmanship is also just average. Don't follow me."

"My name is 'Luo Fuyi,' and I am a Disciple of the 'Lingyang School.' You don't need to be wary of me. Although our School is not as great as the Qingwei Sword Sect, we often join forces with the Sect to subdue demons and eliminate evil." Luo Fuyi continued to follow beside Yu Xiu: "My heart yearns for the sword. Could you spare some time to offer some pointers?"

She hurriedly added: "Since you are going to Yunshan Cliff, I can help guide you. I've been there once before. If you want anything from inside, I can also lend you a hand."

'The Lingyang School, the number one School in Guxu County!'

This was the first time Yu Xiu stopped in his tracks.

In the eight counties of Yan Province, the Qingwei Sword Sect was the sky, but it was not the only one in existence. Beneath it, there were also other Schools of various sizes.

"Show me your sword technique, and I will see if I can offer any pointers." Yu Xiu's heart stirred, and he suddenly relented.

As the number one School in Guxu County, its Legacy naturally wouldn't be bad. If Luo Fuyi asked him for advice, he might be able to secretly learn a sword technique, increasing his lifespan and Comprehension Ability by over a decade.

With his current Comprehension Ability, if someone were to fully execute a sword technique in front of him, he could truly learn it.

Even the Mind-Cultivation Technique and Qi Circulation routes within it, he should be able to deduce them based on the sword moves and momentum.

A free sword technique—it would be a waste not to take it.

Luo Fuyi was overjoyed: "Thank you."

Qi surged within her body, and the long sword on her back let out a 'clang'—a sword cry—as it shot into the sky and landed in her palm.

This single move alone was quite dashing.

"This sword technique of mine is called the 'Hanguang Sword.' Please offer your corrections." Luo Fuyi danced with the long sword in her hand. She executed the set of sword techniques with great force and momentum, creating a powerful, gusty sound.

But Yu Xiu's face darkened as he watched.

The sword should be light and agile, perhaps sharp, or revealing its edge. Yet, looking at this Hanguang Sword with Yu Xiu's discerning eye, it should have been a path of speed, oddity, unpredictability, and constant change.

However, as Luo Fuyi executed it, it had absolutely nothing to do with being odd, fast, or unpredictable. If someone said she was wielding a mountain-splitting axe, Yu Xiu would be more inclined to believe it.

Forget it. Having practiced this technique into such a monstrosity, even if Yu Xiu's Comprehension Ability were better, it would be impossible to deduce anything from it.

Once the sword technique was finished, Luo Fuyi walked over excitedly and asked with full expectation: "Brother Yu, how was my execution of this sword technique?"

"My Master praised me for having the potential of a great Master, saying I have already transcended the framework of the 'Hanguang Sword' itself and can form my own path."

'If you can practice a sword technique into a mountain-splitting axe, of course you can form your own path.' Yu Xiu nodded: "The sword technique is very good. If you have the chance, you could also practice axe techniques or hammer techniques; it would surely capture the essence and spirit."

Luo Fuyi was overjoyed: "Brother Yu, you truly have a good eye. My Master suggested the same thing, so I also practiced the saber."

Yu Xiu: "Your saber technique must be very good."

Judging by Luo Fuyi's disposition, practicing the saber was indeed more suitable. To be precise, she was very well-suited for weapons like sabers, axes, and hammers.

Luo Fuyi was displeased: "I prefer practicing the sword."

Her eyes lit up: "Brother Yu, could you spar with me? Don't worry, I will hold back my strength."

Yu Xiu had no interest: "My swordsmanship is sparse and ordinary; it's not worth showing off."

He suddenly understood why Luo Fuyi said she had met many Qingwei Sword Sect Disciples traveling abroad, but everyone said they were not as good as her.

Within the Qingwei Sword Sect, everyone is a Sword Cultivator; it would be strange if they bothered to pay attention to Luo Fuyi.

Luo Fuyi smiled: "Brother Yu is being too modest."

She loved it most when others praised her swordsmanship as profound, especially the praise from members of the Qingwei Sword Sect; that was what she enjoyed the most.

Because the Qingwei Sword Sect's swordsmanship was unparalleled, the number one in Yan Province, if she could gain their approval, then her swordsmanship must undoubtedly be superb.

She didn't insist on sparring with Yu Xiu either, thinking, 'If I pester Brother Yu to spar, and he, a Disciple of the Sect, loses to me in swordsmanship, he will surely be heartbroken.'

"Let's go. I will take you, Brother Yu, to Yunshan Cliff."

"I've been there once before. There was a demon monkey that had entered the first stage of the Great Four Passes. I was no match for it, so I had to retreat."

"Right now, many experts have gathered in front of Yunshan Cliff. The monsters on Yunshan Cliff will surely be wiped out completely."

She was full of enthusiasm and quite warm-hearted.

Yu Xiu just listened quietly without interrupting.

"The monsters on Yunshan Cliff actually have some brains. They love to eat human hearts and brains, especially those of cultivators. They have hidden on Yunshan Cliff for who knows how long, yet they have never been discovered."

"According to what Jiang Han's friend, who escaped from the demon lair, said, those monsters used demonic arts to bewitch some women, disguising them as poor souls kidnapped by bandits to the mountain. Once a cultivator fell for the trick and went into the mountain to suppress the bandits, they would be captured by the monsters."

"Over all these years, who knows how many people those monsters have eaten? Only now has it become known!"

By the end, Luo Fuyi was already angry: "Mountain spirits and demons are harmful to people; they must be slain by the sword."

Yu Xiu could tell that Luo Fuyi was likely what people in the Jianghu called a chivalrous woman who wields a sword to uphold justice, possessing a heart full of courage.

He felt that there should be more people like her in the world.

Of course, he felt that he was also such a good person, even though he had killed quite a few people.
