270: Chapter 270 Investigation

As the words fell, not long after, a burst of hurried footsteps came from the corridor.

"Coming! Have you eaten and drunk well, guest?"

The private room door was pushed open, and the waiter walked in with a beaming smile, a white towel draped over his shoulder.

As soon as he entered, his gaze was glued tightly to the table.

There lay a few taels of gleaming white silver.

"Gu– Guest... What is this..." The waiter stammered, unable to speak smoothly, rubbing his hands nervously on his apron.

This table of tea and snacks at most cost a few mace of silver; this pile of silver on the table was at least ten-plus taels.

This was enough for him to serve tea and water in this teahouse for more than half a year.

"Take it." Chen Ran's tone was calm.

The waiter turned around, bowing and scraping, the smile on his face as fawning as could be:

"Guest, do you have any other instructions? Just say it, climbing mountains of swords or plunging into seas of fire, this little one will never hesitate!"

Chen Ran beckoned, signaling him to come closer.

"Later, I have invited a few friends to come here."

Chen Ran continued arranging, "You just tell her that I am waiting for her in this private room. In addition, go to the back kitchen and give instructions to serve all of your shop's best signature dishes for me, filling this table, and the rest belongs to you..."

Hearing that the rest belonged entirely to him, the waiter's eyes lit up:

"Alright! Rest assured, guest, this matter is on this little one, I guarantee to handle it beautifully for you!"

"Remember, the attitude must be a bit enthusiastic, just say it is a welcome banquet specially prepared for her." Chen Ran's lips curled into a wicked smile.

"Understood!" The waiter patted his chest in assurance.

Chen Ran nodded and waved: "Go on, serve the dishes quickly."

The waiter ran out overjoyed, pulling the door shut behind him, his footsteps so brisk they felt like they were about to fly.

The private room fell quiet once again.

Chen Ran walked to the window, looking at the team of Constables who had already finished assembling in the opposite Six Doors and were preparing to set off, unable to help shaking his head.

...

In the lobby downstairs, it was extremely lively at the moment.

Although it was already evening, the business in the teahouse was still quite good.

Quite a few tea guests were gathering together, cracking melon seeds, drinking cheap tea leaves, and chatting.

"Have you heard? Old Li's daughter-in-law from the east of the city ran away with Butcher Wang who sells pork next door!"

"Holy crap, really or fake? Old Li's physique truly can't satisfy her, coughing every day like a bellows..."

"Isn't it? Yesterday I even saw Butcher Wang cut two catties of pork belly for that young wife, that look, tsk tsk..."

Just as everyone was gossiping enthusiastically, a neat and uniform sound of footsteps suddenly came from outside the teahouse.

Immediately after, the front door was kicked open by someone.

"Bang!"

With a loud crash, the tea guests in the lobby were so frightened that their bodies shivered all over, and a few people almost dropped their tea bowls to the ground, splashing tea all over their crotches.

Those tea guests were just about to get angry, but when they turned their heads to look, they saw a team of Constables wearing official uniforms and sabers hanging at their waists rushing in like wolves and tigers, instantly blocking all the exits of the teahouse.

The lobby instantly became pin-drop silent.

"What's the situation? Catching a fugitive all the way to the teahouse?"

"Shh, shut up, do you want to die!"

The tea guests shrank their necks one by one, not daring to take a big breath, fearing trouble would fall upon them.

The teahouse boss was originally calculating accounts behind the counter, but when he heard the movement and looked up, he was so frightened his soul almost left his body.

He hurriedly ran out from behind the counter, welcoming them with sweat all over his head.

"Ouch, esteemed officials, esteemed officials!

What is this all about? This small shop is an honest business, and has never done anything illegal or undisciplined. I have paid the regular monthly fees on time!" The boss bowed and scraped, the fat on his face trembling.

At this moment, a tall figure walked in from outside the door.

Lin Wan wore a well-tailored Flying Fish Robe, a sword hanging at her waist, her pretty face icy cold, and her gaze as sharp as a knife.

As soon as she appeared, the temperature of the entire lobby seemed to drop by a few degrees.

"You are the boss?" Lin Wan looked at him coldly.

"Yes, yes, yes, this villain is the manager of this teahouse." The boss hurriedly wiped the cold sweat from his forehead.

"Looking for someone." Lin Wan didn't talk nonsense, getting straight to the point, "About half an hour ago, there was a waiter in your shop who went to the opposite Six Doors to deliver a letter. He is thin and tall, with a mole on his right eyebrow. Call him out for me."

Hearing this, the boss instantly breathed a sigh of relief.

It turned out to be looking for the waiter, as long as they weren't here to seal up the teahouse.

He hurriedly recalled in his mind, just now there indeed was a waiter who said he was going to deliver something opposite, and the appearance completely matched.

"Have, have, have, my lord, please wait a moment!" The boss turned his head and roared at the top of his lungs toward the direction of the back kitchen,

"Shunzi, Shunzi! Where the hell did you die, get the hell out for me!"

Taking advantage of the time the boss was calling someone, Lin Wan stood in the center of the lobby, scanning the surrounding environment with sharp eyes.

The tea guests were glanced at by her, and they lowered their heads one after another, not daring to make eye contact with her at all.

Lin Wan glanced over, and the Realms on the bodies of the tea guests inside were mostly hollow and unbearable, all just ordinary people.

However, Lin Wan did not give up. She always had a hunch that perhaps some clues could be uncovered from the teahouse.

"You want to lead me by the nose? In your dreams!" Lin Wan gritted her teeth inwardly.

As long as she could catch that letter-delivering waiter and follow the vine to find the melon, maybe today she could ferret out this ghost-pretending fellow!

Soon a sound came from afar,

"Coming, coming! Manager, did you call me?"

The curtain of the back kitchen was lifted, and Shunzi ran out with a beaming smile.

The boss went up with a kick, landing on Shunzi's butt: "Are your dog eyes blind, didn't you see the lord from Six Doors is here? Hurry up and go over to reply!"

Shunzi let out an ouch, and when he raised his head to see the person in front of him, the smile on his face instantly became incomparably brilliant.

"Ouch! This must be Lord Lin, right? You've finally come! This little one has been waiting here for a long time!"

Lin Wan was stunned for a moment, seemingly not expecting it to be such a reply.

She originally thought that this waiter, upon seeing the people from Six Doors, would definitely tremble with fear, and might even kneel down to beg for mercy directly and confess the mastermind behind the scenes.

As a result?

This person turned out to be full of excitement, and even said he had been waiting for a long time?

Lin Wan frowned tightly, a trace of vigilance flashing in her eyes: "You know me?"

"How could that be? With an identity like this little one's, how could I have the qualification to know you, Lord Lin!" Shunzi chuckled and hurriedly explained,

"It was ordered by a guest in the private room upstairs just now. He said that later there would definitely be a Lord Lin wearing a Flying Fish Robe and looking extremely pretty coming to find me."

Hearing these words, Lin Wan's heart skipped a beat, and her pupils suddenly contracted.

The other party guessed she would come?!

How could this be possible!

Her coming to the teahouse was a temporary whim, and absolutely no one knew!

That Mountain Lord, could it be her pillow partner, and can he even read minds?!

Lin Wan forcefully suppressed the shock in her heart, and asked coldly: "What does that guest look like? Where is he now?"

"That guest is wearing a bamboo hat, and this little one didn't see his appearance clearly." Shunzi answered honestly,

"However, he should still be in the private room upstairs right now. He even left the private room reserved for you, and specially instructed the back kitchen to serve all of the shop's best signature dishes."

"Which private room is he in?!"

"Second floor, Heaven-grade private room!" Shunzi hurriedly pointed upstairs.

"Surround this place!"

Lin Wan shouted sharply at her subordinate Constables, then directly drew the sword at her waist, striding forward and rushing up the stairs.

Her speed was extremely fast, rushing to the second floor in the blink of an eye.

"Bang!"

Lin Wan kicked open the door of the Heaven-grade private room with one foot, and the long sword in her hand instantly left its sheath, bringing up a trace of icy cold light.

"Don't move!"
