87: Prosperous Age

Nine years into the Apocalypse, due to the development and planning of the Qingyun Group, Shen Mo Chi, Lin Wan, Ji Chuan, and Yue Yue all moved to the Capital City.

The headquarters of the Qingyun Group was ultimately established in the Capital City as well.

The industries in Sea City and its surrounding areas were managed by Yi Nian. Lin Wan left Zhao Yan and some capable veteran members with her.

The reason Yi Nian remained in Sea City was because Shi Li had become a pivotal figure in the Sea City Authorities.

The couple planned to take root in Sea City from now on.

After much discussion among everyone, this decision was finally made.

However, even though they were separated by distance, they had private jets, so Lin Wan and Yue Yue would visit the couple every now and then.

This year, Lin Wan was pregnant with their second child.

She had never experienced a happy biological family, so she wished for her own small family to be lively and bustling.

Xing Ran would also have a companion in the future, someone to love, cherish, and take care of her—how wonderful that would be.

Now that she was about to give birth soon, Shen Mo Chi refused to let her travel far a month ago because of her large belly.

So, Yi Nian brought the nearly three-year-old Shi Luo Qing to stay with them for a while.

She planned to return to Sea City after Lin Wan gave birth.

Yi Nian was currently in her prime, possessing a beautiful figure and a lovely face.

Her deer-like eyes remained clear and flawless; Shi Li truly took excellent care of her.

Although Lin Wan and Xia Yue were eight or nine years older than her, neither of them showed any signs of aging.

Even when standing next to Yi Nian, they looked like peers.

At this moment, the three of them were sitting in the small garden courtyard, basking in the sun.

Four-year-old Shen Xing Ran and five-year-old Xie Ziyu had gone to kindergarten.

Lin Wan stroked her round, pregnant belly and squinted slightly.

“The extreme heat just passed. Fortunately, the impact of these extreme weather events on people is not as significant now. The Authorities were effective and long ago had countermeasures in place.”

Yue Yue, wearing sunglasses, was thoroughly enjoying herself.

“Yes. In fact, if it weren't for the nation's reserve resources, we wouldn't have recovered so quickly and developed so rapidly. I heard that in Japan, there are still very few normal people.”

“Didn't everyone often say before that strength is unpredictable, but they become stronger when they encounter Japan? The enmity between Japan and our Huaxia started many years ago. Their current outcome is truly gratifying. It’s also fortunate that Sister’s spatial ability helped immensely, avoiding many losses for Huaxia. Otherwise, even if we had ultimately defeated Japan, we likely would have suffered heavy losses, making it impossible to achieve what we have so quickly now,” Yi Nian said calmly, with a faint smile in her voice.

Now, her temperament had also changed significantly.

Looking back, things that once seemed momentous now amounted to nothing.

Only the kind face from her memories and that adorable little dog still resided deep in her heart; occasionally, she would bring them out to reminisce and feel sentimental.

Lin Wan took a bite of fruit.

“Well, this isn't solely my credit. It’s also because everyone was united, cooperated with me wholeheartedly, along with the support of The Authorities and the assistance of the powerful military.”

Yue Yue looked up at the clear blue sky above.

“No matter what, your contribution will be recorded in the history of the Apocalypse. The title of a First-Class Merit Family outside the gate was not earned for nothing.”

Lin Wan shot her a playful glare.

“The way you say that, it’s as if your family didn't contribute anything.”

Yue Yue sat up.

“Ha, the nation showed too much favor; we were just riding on your coattails.”

Yi Nian was amused by her cute expression and burst out laughing.

“Sisters, speaking of which, today is National Day. When I arrived, I saw Chinese national flags everywhere on the streets. Every time I see this scene, I feel like crying.”

Lin Wan smiled and nodded.

“Who isn’t? I feel like I’ve become very sentimental this year as I’ve gotten older. I feel like crying watching those videos. Seeing our motherland grow stronger truly gives one a sense of shared glory.”

Xia Yue expressed her agreement.

“Why don’t we go out for a stroll on this special day too? Pregnant woman, do you want to come?”

Lin Wan nodded.

“Of course. The weather is really nice today, and I haven't been out shopping for several days.”

The women decided to go right away and drove to the city center.

As expected, the first thing that met their eyes was that vibrant, beautiful shade of red.

Lin Wan, being a priority protection target, walked in the middle, with the other two flanking her protectively.

The three chatted as they strolled, feeling very relaxed.

With their tall figures and outstanding looks, they quickly attracted a lot of attention.

At first, no one dared to approach and disturb them, until an hour later, a young girl in her twenties spotted them.

“I know them! Oh my god, members of the Qingyun Squad!”

“It really is them! I knew I didn't misidentify them; I saw their pictures in a magazine!”

“I also saw their photos and promotional videos at the bridal shop—that nationwide chain, Zhao's Bridal! I heard it was based on the scene when Shen Mo Chi proposed to Lin Wan. There’s a group photo of them, and it’s absolutely gorgeous.”

“Yes, they are all so beautiful! So stunning.”

The girl walked over, hesitated for a moment, and asked softly.

“Hello, may I take a photo with you?”

The three were momentarily stunned, then smiled sweetly. They actually had fans now.

“Of course you can,” Lin Wan smiled kindly. After having children, her entire demeanor had become increasingly gentle.

In reality, once you are strong enough, your magnanimity naturally broadens, and you do everything as your heart desires.

Hearing this, the girl happily raised her phone.

She took several photos with them, one of which captured the moment they were standing beneath a large Five-Starred Red Flag.

The red flag fluttered gently in the breeze.

The girl looked playful, while the three women had graceful postures and composed expressions—it was simply perfect.

After seeing it, Lin Wan and the others loved the photo immensely and asked the girl to send it to them.

The little girl was quite excited and immediately posted it on her social media.

“Happy National Day! Today while shopping, I was lucky enough to meet three of the female leaders of the Qingyun Squad, who are among the heroes of China’s post-Apocalypse history. The sisters are as beautiful as they are kind-hearted. Without great contributors like them, we wouldn't have such a fast, stable life. Thank you, Motherland, and thank you to everyone who contributed to Huaxia, like the Qingyun Squad!”

In just a few minutes, the likes and comments skyrocketed.

Lin Wan felt that everyone was very considerate. Fearing they might crowd her, someone thoughtfully maintained order to prevent her from being pushed.

In truth, with the high-level abilities they possessed, no one could harm them.

It was strange, though. Since this batch of Ability Users awakened, subsequent Ability Users became fewer and fewer. Abilities like psychic powers or invisibility almost never appeared again.

Perhaps it was due to environmental changes and the gradual evolution of clothing, food, housing, and transportation. In short, Ability Users seemed to be gradually disappearing.

They were being replaced by a very small number of Superpowered Individuals, such as those with telekinesis, flight capabilities, or the ability to speak with animals.

However, as soon as these individuals appeared, they were recruited by the state into the specialized Superpower Bureau.

While things were lively, a handsome and low-key Rolls-Royce stopped by the roadside.

Everyone turned their heads and saw an exceptionally handsome man approaching with a slight frown.

He was wearing a perfectly tailored black suit, his entire figure tall and imposing, with a narrow waist and broad shoulders.

His sharp facial contours gave him a sexy and masculine look, and his entire presence exuded an undeniable nobility and charm.

He moved through the crowd, his deep, handsome eyes fixed only on the woman standing in the center.

Many women in the crowd gasped as they watched him, their faces flushing involuntarily as their starry eyes followed his movements.

The moment he appeared, everyone vaguely guessed his identity.

When they saw him naturally and intimately wrap an arm around Lin Wan's waist and dotingly drape a light coat over her, they were certain: this was one of the helmsmen of the Qingyun Group, Shen Mo Chi.

Speaking of the Qingyun Group, their wealth was now immeasurable, but everyone felt they had earned every bit of it.

Their contributions during the Apocalypse were evident. Take the recent extreme heat wave that lasted three months.

The Qingyun Group donated a significant amount of practical daily necessities, helping many people safely survive the heat.

A figure like him was usually hard to encounter.

Seeing him in person now, he was even more handsome than in the photos!

The man possessed a powerful aura, but the moment he was next to Lin Wan, he became as soft as silk. Such a contrast was incredible!
