18: Chapter 18 The Cicada Awaits

2:00 PM.

In the Intern training room.

"...Everyone, let me first state the schedule for the coming week."

The serious-looking trainer stood in front of the small blackboard, speaking to the group of Interns.

His name was Yan Shu. His personality lived up to his name; he was notoriously strict at Bright Moon Company. Even when facing the new, fragile Intern seedlings that should be nurtured, he was uncompromising and demanded strict obedience.

Whoever formed cliques or whispered would receive a scolding from him.

Within just one morning, the 12 Interns had been whipped into shape, sitting in their chairs with better posture than elementary school students.

Yan Shu said: "Starting tomorrow, you will train here in the morning, striving to familiarize yourselves with the company's mandatory rules and regulations and work processes as quickly as possible."

"You will continue to receive training here in the mornings, and in the afternoons, I will randomly assign you to learn under different Breeders. You must get along well with every Breeder."

"After one week, I will collect feedback from the Breeders. If any Breeder recognizes your ability and is willing to take you on, that is your luck. If no one recognizes you, I will assign you randomly. Is that clear?"

The Interns shouted in unison: "Clear!"

"Very good!"

Yan Shu nodded with satisfaction.

Knock, knock, knock.

A knock sounded at the door.

Yan Shu frowned, looking at the door with some displeasure, and said in a cold tone: "Come in."

He disliked nothing more than being interrupted while working.

The door opened, and Supervisor Song walked in with Li Yu.

"Are you Supervisor Song from the 7th floor? What is the matter?" asked Teacher Yan.

Supervisor Song was in high spirits and smiled: "Teacher Yan, I've brought a newcomer to receive training with this batch of students."

"A newcomer?" Teacher Yan stiffened, his expression showing displeasure, and his voice rose a few notches: "Supervisor Song, this batch of new students has 12 people. You want to cut the line here?"

"Don't be so worked up. This was specifically ordered by Special Assistant Yang." Supervisor Song was clearly well aware of this guy's temper; he wasn't angry at all and kept that same grinning expression.

Bang!

Yan Shu slammed the table, staring at Supervisor Song, thinking this guy was incredibly stupid. Who in the whole company didn't know about his fairness and strictness?

He actually brought a nepotism hire to cut the line!

"Supervisor Song, that reason doesn't work. Give me a reason that can convince me." Yan Shu sneered internally, his gaze towards Li Yu also full of malice.

Li Yu was indifferent, looking calm; he didn't even look at the trainer, his gaze sweeping over the Interns sitting upright below.

They also widened their eyes, staring straight at Li Yu.

"It's that vocational school student. How did he get in?" an Intern whispered.

"Didn't you hear that fat supervisor? Something about a special assistant personally ordering it. It's probably a nepotism hire," another Intern said.

"Hehe… then he's dead. This stone-faced guy is immune to bribery and flattery, and he hates nepotism hires the most."

"Now we're in for a good show."

Taking advantage of Yan Shu's distracted attention, the group of Interns whispered and snickered, their words full of mockery and disdain.

"Quiet!"

Yan Shu turned his head and scolded them: "What are you shouting about? Did I not speak about classroom rules? Everyone sit straight!"

The group of Interns shivered in fear and dared not speak again, though the looks they shot at Li Yu remained full of gossip and mockery.

Yan Shu looked at Li Yu again.

"What is your name?"

"Li Yu."

"Hmm," Yan Shu looked at Supervisor Song and said: "My list for this batch only has 12 people. One more person means more capacity planning for one more person. If you want me to accept them, you need to give me a reason that moves me. If there isn't one, I don't care whose nepotism hire they are, get out!"

The group of Interns showed gloating smiles; some even looked at Li Yu, making faces at him or secretly raising their middle fingers.

Li Yu ignored them directly.

Supervisor Song was not angry at this moment either. He leaned closer to Yan Shu. The latter wanted to retreat in disgust but was held by Supervisor Song, who whispered something in his ear.

It was unknown what Supervisor Song said, but Yan Shu's eyes widened, and a trace of astonishment appeared on his stiff face.

Those Interns looked at each other, excitement appearing on their faces.

It's coming!

Next, Teacher Yan will definitely get angry, then slam the table, scold, or even make a scene, making this fat supervisor and the vocational school student run away in disgrace.

However, the next second.

Yan Shu let out a long breath, his face carrying a hint of excited flush, and said: "Alright, I admit you have moved me. Since that's the case, he can stay. There are a few tables in the corner, let him find a seat himself. I'm going to get the materials."

After speaking, Yan Shu walked out the door, patting Li Yu's shoulder as he passed.

The door closed, and Yan Shu went out.

After he left, Li Yu asked curiously: "What did you tell him?"

"I told him about your two breeding sessions."

"Hmm?"

"Hehe, don't be fooled by appearances. This guy is actually a person who cherishes talent, but as a trainer, he always has to face those newcomers who don't understand anything but think they know everything. After a long time, he became like this."

"So that's it." Li Yu nodded.

"You find a place to sit first and fill out the forms later. I'm going to report this breeding session." Supervisor Song instructed.

"Okay."

Saying goodbye to Supervisor Song, Li Yu found a corner seat and sat down.

Only then did those Interns wake up as if from a dream, letting out a gasp of surprise, countless eyes looking at Li Yu.

"What's the situation? Was that really Teacher Yan just now?"

"What exactly did that fat guy say? It made his attitude change so much!"

"Damn it, why!"

They didn't avoid it at all, and their sharp voices and unwilling questions echoed in the training room, but Li Yu didn't even look over once.

Suddenly, a burst of hurried footsteps sounded in the corridor outside the door, getting closer and closer.

The noisy training room suddenly went quiet. All the Interns returned to their seats, sitting straighter than anyone else.

The hurried footsteps stopped outside the door, turning into rustling sounds, as if someone, no, as if a group of people were sneaking closer.

"Are you sure they're all gone?"

"Gone. I sent out everyone available under me. The elevators and stairs are all our people."

"Good! This time, we absolutely cannot let that guy succeed."

"Go in together…"

Everyone pricked up their ears, looking at the door with strange expressions. Li Yu also cast a suspicious gaze.

Waiting specifically for Supervisor Song and Teacher Yan to leave before coming, and arranging a large number of people… could it be… those people behind Liu Quan again?

Thinking of this, Li Yu frowned, and a bit more vigilance arose in his heart.

Creak— The wooden door slowly opened, and seven or eight heads poked in from outside, both men and women. Their eyes shone as they scanned the training room.

Suddenly, their gaze locked onto Li Yu.

"He really is here!"

With a low shout, the door was pushed open, and those seven or eight people rushed towards Li Yu in a swarm. Their speed was so fast that Li Yu felt it was like a gust of wind. By the time he reacted, those seven or eight people were already in front of him.
