51: Chapter 51 For Scallion Eggs

The Hard-Soled Proctor was knocked back. Clutching his head, he glared at Zeng Huohuo and shouted, "Rebellion! This is pure rebellion! You, a candidate, dare to treat an Invigilator like this!"

"I’ll do exactly that! This is rigged! You dead loser, rigging the exam—you think I can’t tell?!" Zeng Huohuo stood with her hands on her hips, looking as if she were the greatest in the world.

"Someone come! Drag her out! Disregarding exam hall discipline and attacking an Invigilator—drag her out!" the Hard-Soled Proctor shouted.

Li Yu frowned at the sight. He knew there were traps in the Junior Exam and was mentally prepared. He was surprised by the sudden note, but not overly so.

However, he didn't want to implicate others because of it.

Thinking of this, Li Yu stepped forward and said, "A man should take responsibility for his own actions. Don’t involve others."

"Brother, what are you afraid of? For this kind of loser, if I were still a minor like I was a few years ago, I’d freaking kill him!" Zeng Huohuo continued to shout.

The Hard-Soled Proctor was so angry his eyebrows stood up and he trembled all over. He pointed at Zeng Huohuo, wanting to shout something, but was stopped by other Invigilators. One of them whispered a few words in his ear.

It was unknown what was said.

The Hard-Soled Proctor's expression changed rapidly, from anger to embarrassment, from flushed to pale. Finally, he glared at Zeng Huohuo, and the words at the tip of his tongue turned into: "Humph! I’ll let you off this time!"

Zeng Huohuo's eyes widened, wanting to say something, but the Hard-Soled Proctor turned back to Li Yu.

"You! You're expelled. Get lost now! Hey, hey! Put that down! That spirit beast is the property of the Research Institute. Put our property down!"

Li Yu picked up the Spirit Probing Armor, ignoring the Hard-Soled Proctor's shouts, and asked, "What are your plans now?"

The Spirit Probing Armor was silent for a moment before letting out a soft "wu wu"—I want to find him first.

"Him" referred to the former master who had abandoned the Spirit Probing Armor.

Li Yu wasn't surprised by this. Spirit beasts weren't as complex as humans. Especially for spirit beasts that grew up together, their dependence on their master couldn't be summarized by a mere contract.

Every year, there were cases where beasts died of excessive grief or even hunger strikes after being abandoned by their masters. In some places, one could even see spirit beasts waiting day after day for the masters who abandoned them at a street corner, a shop, or even an empty courtyard.

Hopefully, this Little Pangolin's fate wouldn't be that bad.

"Then get ready. When I leave later, the door will open. Run fast and don't get caught again," Li Yu whispered.

The Spirit Probing Armor stared at Li Yu, its dark eyes looking like they were about to mist up. Its long tongue wrapped around Li Yu's wrist, as if trying to take his scent into its body.

"Wu wu..."

It called out.

Li Yu smiled, put down the Spirit Probing Armor, and asked the Hard-Soled Proctor, "So, my competition is over?"

"It's over. You're disqualified. Take your zero and get lost! We don't welcome cheating trash here!"

"Then open the door. Don't block my way."

The corners of Li Yu's mouth quirked up, hands in his pockets, looking like he didn't give a damn.

The Hard-Soled Proctor had prepared several versions of speeches in his mind, waiting for Li Yu to make a scene, but seeing Li Yu so straightforward, he couldn't help but feel suspicious.

However, he didn't think much of it. He took out a remote and pressed it, and the large door slowly opened.

Li Yu strode out the door.

"Hey! Wait! Lock the spirit beast cage!" the Hard-Soled Proctor shouted.

Li Yu stood at the door, turned back and smiled. "My exam is over. Find someone else. If there's still time."

As he spoke, the glass cover snapped open, and the Spirit Probing Armor darted out, rushing towards the door at high speed.

"Stop it! Quick, stop it!" Several Invigilators, including the Hard-Soled Proctor, cried out in alarm, raising their hands to summon spirit beasts, but they weren't as fast as the Spirit Probing Armor.

Li Yu stepped aside and pointed in a direction for the Spirit Probing Armor.

"Go on, run fast." Li Yu smiled and turned back, saying before the glass door closed, "Stop it? That doesn't seem to be my obligation."

The moment the door closed, Li Yu saw Zeng Huohuo laughing hysterically. His lips moved slightly, saying "Thank you."

Truth be told, this cool Little Potato was actually quite a good person.

When Li Yu returned to the open space between the primary and Advanced Cultivation buildings, he only saw a few frustrated people walking by with capture nets and spirit beasts.

It seemed the Little Pangolin had escaped.

Its master was really lucky to have picked up such a spirit beast for free.

Damn, thinking about it carefully, there was actually a slight feeling of annoyance...

Collecting his thoughts, Li Yu went to the registration point for the advanced assessment. The boy at the registration point was grooming his spirit beast.

"Hey! Why are you just getting here? The assessment has already started!"

Seeing Li Yu, he shouted hurriedly.

"I'm here to ask if the matter of the five guarantors has been settled."

"It's settled. I didn't expect you to be so capable, actually getting Professor Li and several other professors from the Research Institute to guarantee for you. Tsk tsk..."

The boy sized Li Yu up, his eyes full of curiosity and a hint of sycophancy.

"Met them by chance," Li Yu smiled.

"But you're late," the boy pointed to the Advanced Cultivation Assessment Hall. "The written exam has been going on for a long time. If you go in now, it'll just count as a forfeit for the written part."

"Doesn't matter. I didn't plan on taking the written exam anyway."

Li Yu turned back to the open space in front of the building, found a bench, leaned back and closed his eyes as if resting.

Seeing this, the boy's face showed unexpected bewilderment. He didn't snap out of it until his spirit beast urged him to continue grooming. He muttered, "What a weird guy, talking as if he could get a perfect score. I really can't understand these people with connections."

Obviously, he took Li Yu for someone with connections at the Research Institute.

In a sense, that wasn't wrong.

Li Yu knew Professor Li and the others, which was equivalent to having connections in the Research Institute. As for whether he used those connections, that was another story.

At this time, a message arrived on his phone.

[Li Meng: How did the exam go, big brother?]

[Li Yu: Are you still worried when I'm handling things? It's in the bag. (Cool face emoji)]

[Li Meng: Yay! Congrats, brother! What do you want for the celebratory dinner tonight?]

[Li Yu: Steamed lamb, steamed bear paw, steamed deer tail, roasted flower duck, roasted spring chicken, roasted young goose...]

[Li Meng: Bro, wake up. I didn't ask you to make a wish. Let's talk about something more down-to-earth.]

[Li Yu: Scallion fried eggs.]

[Li Meng: Got it!]

Li Yu turned off his phone and heard the sound of two glass doors opening. The Advanced Cultivation written exam and the primary cultivation practical exam had both ended.

He looked towards the direction of the Advanced Cultivation, his throat moving slightly, his handsome face showing a bit of determination:

"Even without steamed lamb or bear paw... for the sake of my sister's scallion fried eggs, I must get this qualification certificate. I said it—even if Jesus-beast comes, it won't help!"
