28: Selling stolen goods

Yun Dongliu's previous battle with Chen Jie had resulted in two casualties, but he still had twelve men, so it seemed he had already used tonight's conscription order.

"Haha! Brother Dongliu, we really are fated, meeting three times within twenty-four hours."

"Indeed, fated..." Yun Dongliu glanced at Li Xiao's side, where everyone had blackened faces, and said indifferently, "It looks like you guys fought a tough battle, and without any casualties. Not bad."

"You're probably not far off, right?"

Li Xiao looked at Yun Dongliu's troops, who also seemed a bit disheveled; some of their gear appeared to be missing.

"I'll go ahead. The battle in the north of the city should end soon. Good luck to you!"

Despite it being their third encounter, Yun Dongliu still had no extra words to say and led his troops directly down.

Li Xiao shrugged. He felt he was getting used to this style of speaking, as if everyone owed him eight million.

The two teams moved one after another in the sewer. The sound of gunfire and cannons overhead grew fainter. They both knew that when the sun rose tomorrow morning, the Black Eagle Flag would be hoisted on the city wall.

Slipping through a gap in the fence, Li Xiao looked at Yun Dongliu, who was tidying his gear, and couldn't help but say, "Brother Dongliu, we've met for the third time now, which proves we have a connection. Why don't you join my squad? It's better for everyone to look out for each other than to work alone. Squads are definitely the trend for the future."

"This is good enough. I won't do anything that draws too much attention." Yun Dongliu seemed to state his reason for not joining, but Li Xiao thought this definitely wasn't the main reason.

"Hey, no worries. If business doesn't work out, goodwill remains. I don't think you'd refuse to add me as a friend, would you?"

Yun Dongliu pondered for a moment and replied, "Okay!"

Li Xiao's heart lit up. Once they were friends, feelings would develop over time, and he wouldn't be able to refuse... Wait, that phrase didn't seem quite right.

To avoid being too large a target, Li Xiao waited twenty minutes after Yun Dongliu left before setting off. In the residential building where he had previously hidden, Li Xiao met Liu Nian.

This guy was really considerate; he had been waiting here for several hours, worried that Li Xiao wouldn't be able to get out.

"Liu Nian, you know Yun Dongliu, right?"

"You mean that robot from last night?" Liu Nian frowned, "What's wrong? Did he cause you trouble?"

"No, I ran into him twice today, and after much persuasion, he finally agreed to add me as a friend!"

"Added you as a friend? That robot actually has some thoughts, huh?"

Li Xiao then told Liu Nian about what happened last night and today.

"This... Lao Xiao, you're amazing! Not only did eight people take on seventy or eighty, but you also picked up all the equipment on the streets! You've really struck it rich this time!"

"Struck it rich with what? Those rifles are practically littering the trading center now; they can't be sold for good money. I just stockpiled them in case they're useful later for emergencies. After all, weapon durability, though slow to deplete, still depletes."

Liu Nian nodded, "But then again, I didn't realize this Yun Dongliu had a knack for strategy and combat."

As the sun rose, the smoke of Xi City had yet to dissipate. Li Xiao and his team returned to base at ten in the morning.

Back at headquarters, Li Xiao first took a shower, then went to the dining hall to eat the special meal Du Ziteng had prepared for him. Du Ziteng had been going fishing in the river to the northeast these past two days.

Because the ecosystem was so good, he often caught large fish weighing over ten catties, which made for a very flavorful soup when brought back.

After eating and drinking his fill, Li Xiao began to process the spoils from last night. First were the rifles. Since the warehouse hadn't been built yet, they could only be put up for sale.

So far, only a few of the rifles he had listed earlier had sold. Fortunately, the trading center didn't limit the number of items.

Next were heavy machine guns and squad automatic weapons. These could be used by infantry, but there were no professional machine gunners to operate them skillfully.

So, many players were buying these two powerful weapons to increase their firepower.

Squad automatic weapons weren't worth much, around forty to fifty Star Coins per unit. Heavy machine guns could sell for a little over a hundred.

As for the more than seven thousand rounds of ammunition, Li Xiao sold all of them. The Transit Yard's haul hadn't even been fully used up yet; this period was basically sustained by war.

Then there were the mortars. Li Xiao didn't know how much to list them for. After much thought, considering they were support firepower, he figured they should be worth at least three hundred points.

So, he listed those mortar tubes for three hundred points each.

As for the rocket launcher, since it still had two rounds, he planned to use it himself.

These items would likely take a while to sell, and he urgently needed resources to build a warehouse and a military academy. So, he could only dip into his savings for now.

Due to the exponential increase in resources for base upgrades, resource prices were soaring. What used to buy over ten points of goods for one Star Coin now only bought five points, and even less for rare ores.

Li Xiao spent two thousand Star Coins to exchange for five thousand steel and three thousand fuel, using the remaining four hundred Star Coins to exchange for twelve hundred points of rare ores.

This batch of resources was just enough to build the warehouse and military academy. A Level 6 base required ten thousand points each of steel and fuel, and five thousand points of rare ores. He wouldn't be able to raise that much in a short time.

After these two buildings were completed, there would still be some resources left to build all-terrain vehicles. In these three days, the military factory had already produced six, and although slow, it was keeping pace.

After dealing with these matters, Li Xiao went to sleep. He hadn't slept well these two nights amidst the gunfire and felt his body was about to give out.

"Report! Squad Leader Zhao Feipeng requests to speak with you!"

He didn't know how long he had slept. In a daze, Li Xiao heard someone calling from outside the door and finally got up.

Opening the door, the communications soldier handed over the satellite phone with both hands and said, "Squad Leader Zhao Feipeng says he has an urgent situation to report to you!"

"Zhao Feipeng? He found Luo Feng's base?"

Li Xiao thought, grabbing the satellite phone and urgently asking, "Zhao Feipeng, what's the situation?"

"Boss! I've locked onto Luo Feng's base, but there's a new development!"

"Speak!"

"Luo Feng's Tian Chao Squad seems to consist of more than just the few we eliminated. At least more than a platoon of troops are protecting him within his base's perimeter!"

A platoon? What the hell is this Luo Feng? How does he have such strong rallying power?

The first time Luo Feng appeared, he had three or four players following him. But after Li Xiao annihilated his group a few days ago, he still managed to find people to help him now.

This was enough to show that the other party had strong social skills.

"Good, you continue to monitor and tally their firepower configuration. I'll bring people over very soon!"

Luo Feng suffered a great loss at his hands, and his woman also died. There was no doubt he would seek revenge on Li Xiao.

Rather than waiting for Luo Feng to come knocking, Li Xiao decided to nip this hidden danger in the bud first.

It was still the same team. Li Xiao first sent the main force ahead on ATV all-terrain vehicles, while he and the communications soldier waited in place.
