93: Dragons' first real match
The night was as dark as ink.
A specially modified WZ-10 Attack Helicopter, like a ghost in the dark night, silently sliced through the Jiangnan City sky at an ultra-low altitude, racing towards the Western Suburbs.
Inside the cabin, the atmosphere was so oppressive it was almost suffocating.
All the core members of the Dragon Team were present.
Wang Yi sat in the main seat, eyes closed as if resting, but the rising aura of lightning around him betrayed his inner turmoil.
Chen Hu cradled his massive high-frequency battle blade, a bloodthirsty grin on his face as he continuously ran his fingers over the cold blade.
"Damn, finally a chance to fight for real! I've been dying of boredom!" he muttered under his breath, trembling with excitement. "Don't anyone try to steal my kills later. Just watch me twist their heads off one by one and use 'em as chamber pots!"
"Shut up, Chen Hu," Zhao Zihan's cold voice cut through.
She was meticulously polishing her wind walker compound bow, checking each of her specially made alloy arrows over and over. Her gaze was focused and sharp, like a hawk preparing to hunt in the darkness.
"This isn't a dungeon. There's no respawn, and no infinite pay-to-win support from Advisor Su. If you lose your head, you'll be the first to die."
Chen Hu curled his lip but didn't dare say another word.
Though wild, he knew his limits, especially in front of this grandma whose archery skills bordered on the divine.
Wu Qiong, who possessed spatial abilities, leaned in a corner like a ghost, but his fingers kept tracing patterns in the air, as if simulating infiltration and teleportation routes.
"Listen up, everyone."
Wang Yi opened his eyes, two flashes of lightning vanishing within them.
"Su Yuan has already sent over the cold storage facility's internal layout and enemy defenses. There are thirty-six mercenaries on the perimeter, equipped with heavy firepower, plus two modified bulletproof armored vehicles. Inside is that 'Grim Reaper' and his Personal Guard. Numbers unknown, but their strength is definitely not weak."
He scanned each team member, his voice icy and steady.
"Our primary mission is to ensure Academician Zhang's absolute safety. Clearing out all the trash is secondary."
"The tactical plan is as follows: Chen Hu and I will handle the frontal assault, drawing the main fire. Zhao Zihan, you take position on the abandoned signal tower two kilometers east of the target. Establish a sniper nest to provide long-range support and monitor all escape routes."
"Wu Qiong, use your spatial ability to infiltrate the cold storage interior as soon as possible. Locate Academician Zhang's position, but do not act rashly. Only move in once you've confirmed it's safe."
"Li Bingyao, you and the others are responsible for backup and handling any stragglers."
"Is that clear?"
"Clear!" everyone responded in unison.
"Good," Wang Yi nodded. "Remember, we are the Dragon Nation's sharpest blade. Tonight, we'll let these suicidal scum taste what it's like to have their throats slit by that blade!"
Ten minutes later, the helicopter hovered at a low altitude, one and a half kilometers from the target.
Zhao Zihan and Wu Qiong's figures were the first to vanish into the night.
Wang Yi and Chen Hu exchanged a glance and then leapt directly from the cabin, dozens of meters high.
"Boom! Boom!"
Two thunderous impacts, like meteors striking the earth, as they landed solidly on the ground, the concrete beneath their feet instantly cracking.
The massive disturbance immediately alerted the guards outside the cold storage.
A piercing alarm sliced through the night sky, and searchlight beams swept frantically, instantly locking onto Wang Yi and Chen Hu.
"Fire! Fire!"
Intense gunfire erupted like popping corn.
Countless streams of tracer fire wove a net of death, raining down upon the two men.
"Bring it on!"
Chen Hu, far from being alarmed, roared with delight.
Instead of dodging, he charged forward like a runaway heavy tank, barreling head-on into the hail of bullets!
"Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang!"
Rifle bullets struck his body, producing a series of dense metallic clangs, sparks flying everywhere. Yet, they couldn't even scratch his skin, leaving only faint white marks.
This sight nearly made the mercenaries observing the battlefield through night-vision goggles pop their eyes out.
"What the hell is that?!"
"A monster! It's a monster!"
"Heavy weapons! Use the heavy weapons!"
Their shouts were completely drowned out by Chen Hu's furious roar.
Enhanced by the t-virus serum and awakened to a Berserker talent in the dungeon, Chen Hu's physical strength had long surpassed human limits. These conventional weapons were little more than an itch to him.
Laughing maniacally, he charged towards a bulletproof armored vehicle that was spewing fire.
Under the horrified gazes of the soldiers inside, he bent down, his hands gripping the vehicle's undercarriage.
"Up... you go!!!"
With a beast-like roar, the muscles in his back and waist bulged, veins standing out like coiling dragons.
The armored vehicle, weighing over ten tons, was actually lifted clear off the ground by him. Then, with all his might, he violently flipped it over!
"KABOOM!!!"
A violent explosion erupted, sending towering flames and black smoke skyward, instantly engulfing several nearby mercenaries.
The entire battlefield fell into an eerie silence at this inhuman spectacle.
Everyone was stunned senseless.
And just as Chen Hu captured everyone's attention, Wang Yi's figure moved like a phantom, streaking across the battlefield on the other side.
Wherever he passed, all electronic devices—from communicators and electronic scopes to surveillance cameras—instantly flickered, screens bursting with a flash and emitting smoke before being completely fried.
"Their communications and electronic equipment have all been severed," Wang Yi's calm voice sounded over the team channel. "They are now blind and deaf."
Before his words faded, he had already plunged into another group of dumbfounded mercenaries.
There were no earth-shattering displays, only flashes of crackling lightning.
Each of Wang Yi's strikes was swift as lightning, precise and lethal.
These battle-hardened mercenaries were like lambs to the slaughter before him. They didn't even have time to react before collapsing, bodies charred black amidst the flickering arcs of electricity.
In less than three minutes.
All thirty-six perimeter mercenaries had been cleaned up.
Wang Yi and Chen Hu stood unscathed before the cold storage's heavy steel door.
"My turn!"
Chen Hu bellowed excitedly, raising his high-frequency battle blade to cleave it down.
"Wait," Wang Yi stopped him.
Wang Yi slowly extended his hand, palm aimed at the door.
"Zzzzrt—"
A thick bolt of lightning erupted from his palm, striking the electronic lock with pinpoint accuracy.
With a loud bang, the lock was instantly melted through, billowing thick smoke.
Wang Yi withdrew his hand and gave Chen Hu a nod.
Chen Hu grinned, stepped forward, and delivered a mighty kick!
"BOOM!!!"
The several-ton steel door, as if made of paper, was kicked inward, denting before collapsing with a thunderous crash!
A wave of icy air, laced with the scent of blood and decay, rushed out from the pitch-black corridor beyond the doorway.
At the far end of the corridor, a pair of cold, inhuman eyes slowly lit up.
