16: Section 16

"Lin Yi, we have seen your talent and character with our own eyes!"

"However, I must warn you: no matter what, you are never allowed to do anything illegal, let alone anything immoral or harmful!"

"You say you have a way, then fine. Use your own method and give it your best shot!"

"What I said just now still stands. If you haven't managed to come up with the registration fee by the deadline next Wednesday, I will pay it for you!" Teacher Liu Song said with a serious expression.

Upon hearing this, Lin Yi's eyes turned red.

He nodded gently: "Okay, before the deadline next Wednesday..."

"Go on, go to the Cafeteria and eat!" A faint smile appeared on Teacher Liu Song's face.

Lin Yi bowed deeply to him.

Only then did he walk out of the classroom.

Just as he was about to open the door, he stopped again.

He turned back to look at Teacher Liu Song and asked: "Teacher Liu, may I ask, is there something happening with Wei Nan's family?"

"Wei Nan? I'm not clear on that. It was his mother who called me this morning."

"She just said he needed to take some time off, and he probably won't be coming to school until the Martial Arts Exam!"

"By the way, you and Wei Nan are close. Why don't you give him a call later and ask? Then you'll know."

Lin Yi nodded.

After thanking his homeroom teacher once more.

He opened the door and hurried outside.

Based on what he knew of Wei Nan, unless something major had happened at home.

Otherwise, Wei Nan would never ask for leave so easily.

And he certainly wouldn't ask for such a long leave of absence.

"He accepted the Monster Hunting mission with me, and he was going to look for his own mission target last night."

"Hiss... Could it be that something happened to him last night?"

Lin Yi panicked and hurried toward the Cafeteria.

"Yang Qian, I finally found you!"

Lin Yi arrived at the Cafeteria and spotted Yang Qian among the many students.

Yang Qian, who had just finished getting her food, looked at Lin Yi curiously.

"Looking for me? What for?"

"Let me use your phone!"

"Huh?"

Yang Qian's expression changed slightly, and she quickly glanced around.

High school students are not allowed to bring mobile phones to school privately.

Even though they were already in their third year of high school and were about to face the Martial Arts Exam or the college entrance exam...

"I didn't bring my phone; it's in the classroom. If you want to use it, just go back and get it yourself."

"Also, keep your voice down in the future. Are you trying to get my phone confiscated?" Yang Qian said with slight annoyance.

Lin Yi scratched his head in embarrassment.

Only then did he realize that he had indeed spoken a bit too loudly.

After quickly thanking her, he ran back toward the classroom.

After finding the phone in Yang Qian's school bag.

He couldn't wait to find a place with no one around and called Wei Nan.

[Sorry, the number you have dialed is powered off. Please try again later...]

A cold, automated voice came from the phone.

Lin Yi dialed several more times, but the result was the same.

This made Lin Yi feel increasingly anxious.

Wei Nan was his only friend; if something happened to him as well...

Recalling what Wei Nan had said to Lin Yi when school ended yesterday.

Clearly, Wei Nan had never let go of his older brother's death.

It was just buried deep in his heart, and he hadn't revealed his true feelings to anyone.

And his reason for choosing Monster Hunting was likely not simple either.

"Could it be that he intends to use the Monster Hunting opportunity to find the Yao Beast that killed his brother all those years ago?"

Lin Yi's brows furrowed slightly.

"Lin Yi, what on earth are you doing?"

Just at that moment, Yang Qian hurried over.

Which completely disrupted his train of thought.

"Huh? It's nothing, I was just a bit worried about Wei Nan, I just gave him a call!"

"Did you get through? What did he say?" Yang Qian asked curiously.

Lin Yi shook his head: "It was powered off. Thanks for your phone!"

After returning the phone to Yang Qian, Lin Yi smiled, left, and headed toward the Cafeteria.

...

The afternoon was entirely dedicated to martial arts class.

Which meant practicing the Basic Fist Technique and footwork over and over again.

These were all the basics that would be tested during the Martial Arts Exam.

With only three months left, the Martial Arts Exam was about to begin.

All the students who had registered were practicing diligently, over and over again.

"Lin Yi, come here for a moment!"

Suddenly, the martial arts coach, Coach Qi, walked over.

His expression was somewhat grave as he called Lin Yi away.

Lin Yi was confused but followed him to a corner of the classroom.

"Coach Qi, what's wrong?"

"Lin Yi, are you not planning to register for the Martial Arts Exam?" Coach Qi said with a sullen face.

Lin Yi was stunned, then quickly shook his head: "No, I want to register!"

"You want to register? Registration closes next Wednesday. Everyone who intended to register has already done so; you are the only one left who hasn't."

"Also, your state just now was clearly distracted. Have you encountered any difficulties? You can tell me!" Coach Qi said with some concern.

Like his homeroom teacher, Teacher Liu Song.

He believed that Lin Yi was a good prospect for martial arts.

He had good Comprehension Ability and decent talent.

If he could embark on the path of martial arts, his future achievements would surely be great.

Getting into a Martial Arts University wouldn't be a problem either.

However, they were all aware of Lin Yi's family situation.

But if Lin Yi, such a student, were to be buried because of this reason.

For Teacher Liu Song and Coach Qi, it would be a great pity.

That is why Teacher Liu Song had thought about paying for Lin Yi's registration himself.

Coach Qi also wanted to help Lin Yi with some things...

Lin Yi smiled and shook his head: "Coach Qi, I'm fine. I was just distracted earlier. Don't worry, I will definitely have the registration fee ready by next Wednesday!"

"If there's nothing else, I'll go back to practicing my punches!"

Before Coach Qi could say anything else.

Lin Yi ran back to where he was before.

Re-entering the state of [Absolute Focus].

Watching Lin Yi, who was even more serious than before, every one of his punches was incredibly powerful.

And the movements of his Basic Fist Technique were all very precise.

They had even reached, at the very least, the level of Minor Achievement.

How could Coach Qi, as his instructor, not like such a student?

If he couldn't participate in the Martial Arts Exam and thus couldn't embark on the path of martial arts.

It would be a loss.

After a long while, Coach Qi left the martial arts classroom.

He took out his phone and made a call.

"Hello, Teacher Liu? Yes, this is Coach Qi. I think we need to talk about Lin Yi!"
