547: Section 547

After a few simple pleasantries, Lin Yi followed Meng Die and the others upstairs.

Old He's office was on the sixteenth floor.

After taking the elevator to that floor, the three of them stepped out.

As it turned out, the staff members they encountered all greeted them with smiles on their faces.

Their gazes also swept over Lin Yi with a hint of curiosity.

When Meng Die brought Lin Yi to the door of Old He's office, they could see through the window that someone was inside reporting to Old He.

"Let's wait here for a moment!"

"Things have been quite busy lately, and Old He has to handle everything personally. He's swamped!"

Lin Yi nodded and walked over to sit on the sofa nearby.

Soon, a staff member walked over carrying three cups of mixed drinks.

Lin Yi thanked them and took a drink.

Fortunately, it didn't take long—just a few minutes—before the person in the office left.

Only then did Meng Die stand up and walk over.

She knocked on the door, and after it opened, she went inside and spoke a few words.

She then came back out and said with a smile, "Go on in. Old He is waiting for you inside!"

Lin Yi set down his drink, thanked Meng Die, and walked into the office.

As soon as the door closed, Old He smiled and said, "Work has been so busy that I haven't been able to get away. You must have been waiting anxiously, right?"

After Old He finished speaking with a kindly smile, he walked out from behind his desk and sat on the sofa with Lin Yi.

Lin Yi smiled, "As long as I didn't interrupt your work!"

"I came today because I wanted to ask what exactly you needed, Old He. We've been in Jingzhao City for several days now. If there's nothing else, I think it's time for us to head back."

Lin Yi had actually come to say goodbye.

The only reason he had stayed behind was because Old He said he had something to tell him.

Yet, after waiting for two or three days, there had been no word from Old He.

Especially after what Xiao Qi said this morning, Lin Yi felt an inexplicable sense of unease.

He had a nagging feeling that something was about to happen.

That was why he came to see Old He—to check in and let him know he was leaving.

Old He nodded, "I've taken up too much of your time these past few days!"

"Sigh, work has been relentless, it really is... Actually, the reason I asked you to stay was to ask if you would be willing to work for the Martial Suppression Bureau!"

"The Martial Suppression Bureau?"

Lin Yi looked at Old He with some surprise.

After a long while, he couldn't help but laugh, "Old He, I'm a student at Xingwu University. My natural path should be with the Monster Hunting Bureau. Besides, the entry requirements for your Martial Suppression Bureau are strict and require rigorous screening..."

"You're overthinking it!"

"Others who want to join the Martial Suppression Bureau naturally have to pass through layers of screening, but you are different. As long as you are willing, we can process your entry at any time!"

"You also know that the Martial Suppression Bureau branches everywhere have suffered heavy casualties recently!"

"The situation is no better than it is for the Monster Hunting Bureau. Even Wei Shang and Feng Lei are currently hospitalized with injuries!"

"The situation is dire, and those Blood Handprints have yet to be cleared. Time waits for no one!"

"If you are willing to join the Martial Suppression Bureau, it would mean gaining a great general!"

"I believe that with you leading the Right Division Guard, you will certainly be able to deter those villains!"

"And we can eradicate all those Blood Handprints sooner."

After he finished speaking, Old He secretly observed the changes in Lin Yi's expression.

A moment later, he continued with a smile, "Of course, whether you're willing or not is entirely up to you. I won't force you or put you under any pressure!"

"Oh, that's right, don't you have a few friends who are still in Jingzhao City? You can ask them later. If they are also willing to join the Martial Suppression Bureau, they can join along with you!"

Lin Yi looked up at Old He.

It was clear that Old He was opening a backdoor for Wei Nan and Zhou Qi.

Under normal circumstances, joining the Martial Suppression Bureau required layers of screening. Things like Realm requirements were just the basics. There were also assessments regarding character, morality, and so on.

In short, joining the Martial Suppression Bureau was by no means just a matter of meeting certain hard requirements.

By the standards of the Martial Suppression Bureau, character and morality were even more important.

Wei Nan and Zhou Qi wouldn't need to pass any of these; they could join directly. This was entirely for Lin Yi's sake. Otherwise, they wouldn't even qualify for the assessment.

After a while, Lin Yi nodded, "Alright, I'll go back and discuss it with them!"

"I'll give you an answer later!"

Seeing that Lin Yi had compromised, a faint smile crossed Old He's face.

Lin Yi then continued, "Old He, does the Martial Suppression Bureau or the Monster Hunting Bureau have some kind of plan recently?"

"Hmm? What do you mean?" Old He asked, taken aback and puzzled.

"Nothing, just asking casually. Lately, I've had a bit of a..."

Just as Lin Yi was about to finish his sentence, the office door was suddenly pushed open.

Old He's expression darkened, and he looked up with rising anger.

A young Martial Suppression Bureau staff member ran in, looking panicked.

"What's wrong?"

Although Old He looked displeased, the people who worked here were all very disciplined. They would never be so rash unless something urgent had happened.

The person, with a terrified expression and rapid breathing, said, "Old He, we just... just received news. A bus returning to school has... has exploded on Fengming Road!"

"What?"

"A bus returning to school?"

Old He and Lin Yi both stood up abruptly.

Lin Yi's expression changed, and he immediately ran outside.

Because just before he came here, Senior Brother Zhong Yan had called him to say that he would be returning to Longhu Mountain today, and they had chosen to take a bus back.

This made Lin Yi feel even more anxious.

Not waiting for the elevator to go downstairs, he transformed into a streak of golden light and left.

Old He followed closely, walking out of the office as well.

Meng Die and Yang Biao, who were looking confused, hurriedly stood up and asked, "Old He, what happened? I saw Lin Yi..."

"A bus returning to school exploded on Fengming Road. Take some people and go check which school it belongs to immediately!"

"Yes!"

Upon hearing this, Meng Die and Yang Biao's expressions also changed drastically.

They hurried into the elevator and headed downstairs.

...

Fengming Road.

This was the commercial center of Jingzhao City and the most crowded area.

On the road between three shopping malls, the scene was tragic, with wailing all around.

Many people nearby had been affected by the explosion.

In the center, a burning bus was rolling with layers of black smoke.

The entire bus was engulfed in flames, and the fire had yet to subside.

It was almost burnt down to an empty frame, and no one could be seen struggling inside...
