188: Chapter 188 Lu Chen Makes a List Late at Night! Lin Wan Uses a Hardcore Way to Get Him to Sleep

11:40 PM.

The lights in the Cockpit were dimmed to their lowest setting.

Blue light from the panel glowed in the darkness.

The radar scanning line rotated at a steady speed; the eight-kilometer radius was clear.

Four dark red records pulsed quietly in the signal log column.

There was no fifth.

Lu Chen leaned against the back of the pilot's seat, which was reclined halfway to maintain a comfortable sitting angle.

A notebook was spread across his lap, and the pen in his right hand hadn't been put down yet.

He was writing tomorrow's task list.

Item one: The first batch of nine hundred kilograms of flour is ready; confirm the distribution plan.

Item two: Construction on the storage area partitions begins; Han Zhengqing to arrange manpower.

Item three: ZM07 conversion to a Farrowing Room; Liao Dacheng to confirm.

Item four: Day four of the composting cycle; test the valves tomorrow or the day after.

Item five: Maintain signal monitoring every ten minutes.

Item six: Lin Xiao’s first Relocation Team of over five hundred people departs tomorrow morning at 7:00 AM.

Item seven: Zhou Yuan to continue monitoring for communication replies from the Dawn Legion.

Item eight: Zhao Tiezhu’s Reconnaissance Platoon to maintain Level 2 readiness.

As he was writing the eighth item, the communicator rang.

Lu Chen glanced at the source.

Lin Wan.

“City Lord.”

“What is it?”

“You're not asleep yet.”

“I'm writing something.”

“Writing what?”

“Tomorrow's task list.”

“How many items so far?”

“Eight.”

“You've been in the Cockpit since 8:00 AM today, and you've only gone down to the Greenhouse once to see the Strawberries. You ate one Strawberry, one Nutrient Bar, and drank a bowl of noodle soup.”

“That's enough.”

“It's not enough.” Lin Wan's voice was clear through the communicator, devoid of static; she was likely in a quiet corner of the Residential Area. “Starting from day fifty-two, you've slept in that Cockpit seat for seven consecutive days, never getting more than five hours a day.”

“I can fall asleep.”

“Being able to fall asleep doesn't mean you're getting enough sleep.”

Lu Chen didn't respond.

“City Lord, you have a lot to do tomorrow. You need to oversee the storage partitions, distribute the flour, coordinate the Relocation Team, and monitor signals. If you don't get six hours of sleep tonight, you'll start getting drowsy by tomorrow afternoon.”

“I won't get drowsy.”

“The last time you said you wouldn't get drowsy was at 3:00 AM on day forty-seven. Then you fell asleep sitting in the pilot's seat and didn't wake up until I brought milk up at 6:00 AM.”

Lu Chen was silent for two seconds.

“You have a good memory.”

“I've always had a good memory.”

“Fine, I'll sleep before midnight.”

“Sleep now.”

“I have two more items to finish.”

“Sleep as soon as you're done.”

“I'll sleep as soon as I'm done.”

“Don't lie to me.”

“When have I ever lied to you?”

Lin Wan was quiet for a second on the other end of the line.

“City Lord, that Strawberry you ate today—was it sweet?”

“Sweet.”

“Tomorrow I'll save the second one for you. You have two left out of your three.”

“No need to save it, give it to someone else.”

“No, we agreed on three, so it's three.”

“Then save it.”

“Okay. I'll leave the milk as usual at 6:00 AM tomorrow.”

“Mm.”

“Goodnight, City Lord.”

The communicator hung up.

Silence returned to the Cockpit.

Lu Chen looked at the signal log column on the panel.

Four dark red records.

No fifth.

He finished writing the remaining two tasks.

Item nine: Arrange a Welder for Liao Dacheng tomorrow afternoon to help weld the Farrowing Room support pillars.

Item ten: Confirm if ninety percent of the third crop's sown area needs additional nutrient solution ratio adjustments; check with Lin Wan.

Ten items.

Lu Chen closed the notebook, placed the pen on the console, and fully reclined the seat back.

The clock on the panel showed 11:53 PM.

The radar scanning line continued to rotate.

The signal log column continued to pulse.

He closed his eyes.

The sweetness of the Strawberry had already faded from his mouth, but he remembered the taste.

It was completely different from a Nutrient Bar, and different from noodles or Cabbage and meat stew.

It was the taste of life.

Lu Chen adjusted his position in the pilot's seat.

His mind was still racing, but his body began to relax.

Ten minutes later, his breathing became even.

The blue light from the panel reflected on his face.

In the signal log column, there were still four dark red records.

The fifth had not appeared.

Not today.

What about tomorrow?
