155: Chapter 155 The Weasel Comes to the Door, Each with Their Own Hidden Motives

Three days later.

A black Mercedes-Benz sedan stopped in front of the Star Technology headquarters building.

A white man got out of the car, wearing a dark gray Chinese-style standing collar shirt and black cloth shoes.

David Ross, Chinese name Luo Wei.

He looked up at the building in front of him, a flicker of emotion passing through his eyes before quickly vanishing.

With a smile on his face, he spoke to the receptionist in a thick Beijing accent.

"Pardon me, miss, I have an appointment with Chairman Chen."

Conference Room No. 1.

Chen Xu sat in the main seat, with Guan Yi standing by his side.

Ross entered the conference room, took a few quick steps toward Chen Xu, and extended both hands.

"Chairman Chen! I've long heard of your great name! Seeing you today, it's true that heroes come from the youth!"

Ross's enthusiasm was like a reunion of old friends who hadn't seen each other in years.

Chen Xu stood up and shook his hand.

"Mr. Ross, please have a seat."

Both parties took their seats.

Ross's gaze fell on Chen Xu, and he gave a thumbs up.

"Chairman Chen, if you ask me, your 'tianshu evolver' is what a real phone should be!"

"I had to pull some strings just to get one. That experience, that feeling... I don't think I'll ever use another phone in my life."

His tone became exaggerated.

"And 'Taiyi'! That's not just artificial intelligence; it's something only God could create!"

"Our Microsoft engineers have watched the recording of your press conference at least fifty times. Each time, they were looking up in awe."

Chen Xu listened quietly, holding a cup of green tea and occasionally blowing on the leaves.

Ten minutes of praise came to an end.

Ross changed his tone and cut to the chase.

"Chairman Chen, I'm here today not just on my own behalf, but representing Microsoft and Mr. Satya Nadella."

"We come with the utmost sincerity to cooperate with you."

He looked at Chen Xu.

"The Windows system has over a billion active users globally."

"These billion users are eager to experience the power of 'Taiyi'; they want to touch the future."

"We shouldn't exclude them. Technology should have no borders."

Chen Xu gave him a look to continue.

Seeing Chen Xu's reaction, Ross felt a surge of joy.

"We are willing to open up part of the Windows system's low-level source code permissions to Star Technology!"

"We will establish a dedicated technical team to help 'Taiyi' be perfectly ported to the Windows platform."

"Furthermore, Microsoft will not take a single cent of any revenue generated through the Windows version of 'Taiyi', including app store shares and subscription fees!"

"It will all belong to Star Technology!"

Ross stared intently at Chen Xu's face.

Chen Xu's face was very calm.

This caused a hint of unease to arise in Ross's heart.

He felt like he wasn't facing a young man and decided to raise the stakes further.

"We can even utilize Microsoft's global channel resources to help Star Technology promote your 'Zhoutian OS'!"

"Make it the second choice besides Windows!"

This condition was equivalent to Microsoft lowering its status to support Star Technology.

Chen Xu smiled and finally spoke.

"Mr. Ross, your Chinese is very good, and I see your sincerity."

"However, there is a technical issue."

Ross said urgently.

"Please, tell me! For any technical issue, Microsoft's engineering team is ready to provide the highest level of support at any time!"

Chen Xu slowly set down his teacup and looked into Ross's eyes.

"The operation of 'Taiyi' deeply relies on the NPU architecture of the 'Kunlun' chip."

"It's not a pure piece of software; its way of thinking and its evolutionary logic are deeply bound to our hardware."

"It's more like a... life form that combines software and hardware."

Chen Xu spread his hands.

"Porting it to PCs with the X86 architecture is technically too difficult."

"It would be equivalent to rebuilding 'Taiyi' from scratch. Therefore, we cannot cooperate for the time being."

Disappointment flashed in Ross's eyes.

"So that's how it is..."

He put on an expression of sudden realization, which was then replaced by regret.

"What a pity, truly a pity. However, I completely understand; great technology always comes with its unique characteristics."

He stood up, preparing to end the meeting.

"Still, I hope Star Technology will consider our proposal. Microsoft's door for cooperation is always open to you."

Ross thought the meeting would end in failure.

Chen Xu "casually" mentioned something.

"The PC side isn't feasible for now, but we are exploring deeper applications for the mobile side."

Ross stopped in his tracks, interest reigniting on his face.

"Oh? Chairman Chen, please, tell me more."

Chen Xu signaled to Guan Yi beside him.

Guan Yi operated her tablet.

The screen in the conference room lit up, and a CG demonstration appeared.

A game demonstration.

The graphics were exquisite, and the physics effects were astonishing.

A hideous giant beast, as large as a skyscraper, was rampaging through a city.

Buildings collapsed under its claws, and streets melted from its breath.

A character wearing futuristic armor was locked in combat with it.

The camera angle suddenly shifted.

First-person.

A hand wearing a metal glove appeared at the bottom of the screen.

The monster seemed to stand right in front of the player.

Immediately after.

The character in the scene "jumped" out of the phone screen.

A holographic projection stood above the phone.

It formed a three-dimensional battle scene with the distant monster.

Chen Xu's voice sounded from the side.

"This is an experimental project being developed by our newly established 'Xingchen Entertainment'."

"We believe the future of mobile games lies in the deep integration of AI and holographic projection."

"'Taiyi' isn't just an assistant; it can also become the smartest NPC in a game, or even a comrade-in-arms for the player."

"This is the true trump card of the 'tianshu' phone."

Ross watched the demonstration and listened to Chen Xu's words, believing about seventy percent of it.

Star Technology's ambition was huge, but their scope was limited.

They currently focused all their technology—chips, AI—to ultimately serve the mobile phone.

What they wanted was to become the absolute overlord of the mobile end.

Using games and content to lock in their ecosystem.

A company focused only on the mobile field, no matter how strong its technology, wouldn't pose a fundamental threat to the PC hegemony that Microsoft relied on for survival.

The meeting ended.

Ross left the Xingchen Technology Park with this "major discovery."

He got into the car and immediately dialed the headquarters.

"Mr. Satya, I've met Chen Xu."

"I believe their targets are Apple, android, and the entire mobile market."

"Regarding the PC field, they have no substantial threats or plans yet. I suggest that headquarters continue to observe and suspend the execution of Project 'Troy'."

"We can focus more of our energy on how to deal with the remnants of Google and Apple."

On the other end of the phone, Nadella remained vigilant and instructed.

"Ross, you must not let your guard down. Continue to keep an eye on Star Technology and report any developments immediately."

Chen Xu's office.

He stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, watching the black Mercedes disappear at the end of his vision.

"Boss, the bait has been cast," Guan Yi said, standing behind him.

Chen Xu turned around, a slight smile appearing on his face.

At that moment, the phone on the desk lit up, and "Taiyi" appeared.

Zero's voice sounded.

"Boss, the 'Chongming' chip has completed ninety percent of its design."

"The 'Luoshu' language core library has been constructed."
