Chapter 23: Deadly Spider and Sharp Claws!

Not detecting the water spear that suddenly appeared and stabbed into it, the spider could only let out a painful scream as it collapsed on the ground with blood leaking out from the wound left behind by the water spear.

This... It survived!?

Seeing that the spider was still alive and looked like it was about to get up again after having taken her water spear head on, Scaly could not help showing a look of disbelief on her small face.

At this moment, she understood that dealing with the spider in front of her would not be as easy as she had hoped. Especially considering that the spider was looking in her direction filled with killing intent as it slowly got back up!

Using most of the mana left in her small body, Scaly conjured another water spear before sending it flying towards the spider that had still not managed to get back up yet. Arriving in front of Scaly within seconds after she had prepared herself for the upcoming battle without the help of her magic, the spider used the small hooks located at the ends of its long legs to dig into Scaly’s body and prevent her from escaping.

Unconsciously letting out a rather cute sounding roar in response to the small hooks digging into her body, Scaly used her claws to directly cut off the two legs that had managed to grab onto her before the spider had enough time to bite down on her.

This- My claws are sharper than I expected...

Seeing how easily she managed to cut through the thin and weak-looking legs of the spider with her claws, Scaly felt like she had gained a much-needed boost in confidence as she no longer felt any fear towards the spider.

Swish-!

Knowing how sharp her claws were, Scaly went on the offensive against the spider-

Catching it off guard as she managed to cut off a few more of its legs before using its decreased movement to get close enough to use her sharp claws to stab through the head of the spider. Killing the already heavily injured spider in an instant!

Feeling an overwhelming sense of exhaustion washing over her the moment she killed the spider, Scaly used her last remaining strength to crawl into a nearby empty hole to hide away inside of before she felt the world around her turning dark as she fainted.

Waking up inside the small hole she had found to hide away inside of before fainting, Scaly quickly checked her surroundings before seeing that the spider she had killed before fainting had already disappeared. Only a few parts of its skeleton were still left outside her temporary hiding spot...

However, this was not the most important thing on Scaly’s mind. Instead, it was the large monster that had decided to lay down just outside her hiding spot!

Reading the description of the large creature that had laid down just outside her hiding spot, Scaly had no idea what to say. Especially after reading the last part of the description. For some reason, she had a feeling that it was specifically talking about her!

Well... There is no way for me to leave for now, I should check out my status now that my level increased and see if anything changed after my battle with the spider...

Understanding that she would not be able to leave now that a terrifying cave troll that apparently preferred to eat small lizards like herself, Scaly decided to spend her time looking through her status to see if anything had changed after her first real fight without using her magic.

Not only that, but it was also her first real combat skill that did not involve magic!
