61: Yu Meir's thoughts

Jiang Chen's foot was still on Yuan Haotian's arrogant face.

The Crown Prince of the Tianyuan Divine Dynasty was now like a dead dog, unconscious on the ground, without a shred of dignity.

Yu Meier stood to the side, her emotions in turmoil, unable to calm down for a long time.

She had seen too many men: some who tried every means to please her, some who kept their distance out of respect, and some who harbored ill intentions towards her.

But someone like Jiang Chen, who moments ago had been sarcastic towards her, and then, because of a single insult from someone else, boldly struck out and trampled a Divine Dynasty's Crown Prince underfoot—she had never seen such a person before.

She had long been accustomed to using her charm and allure as armor, wrapping herself tightly.

But just now, this disguise was forcefully cracked by Jiang Chen's unreasonable words.

Jiang Chen had no time to ponder what she was thinking.

He withdrew his foot, his face devoid of any emotional fluctuation. He bent down, removed the Storage Ring engraved with a True Dragon pattern from Yuan Haotian's finger, and swept it with his Divine Sense.

A moment later, he frowned.

"Tsk."

Jiang Chen clicked his tongue, an undisguised look of disdain on his face, "I thought a Divine Dynasty's Crown Prince would be rich. Turns out, he's a pauper. He doesn't even have a decent Dao weapon, just a bunch of flashy but useless junk."

After doing all this, Jiang Chen stood up, clapped his hands, and then kicked the unconscious Yuan Haotian to the corner of the altar to keep him from blocking the way.

Throughout the entire process, he acted as if it was only natural, without the slightest hesitation.

Yu Meier stood by, watching his series of fluid actions, momentarily forgetting where she was.

This man... one moment he was saying something like, 'my person, it's not for you to insult,' which made her heartstrings tremble.

The next moment, he was stripping someone down to their underwear without batting an eye.

This extreme contrast made Yu Meier's mind a little chaotic.

"Had enough looking?"

Jiang Chen turned around, meeting her somewhat dazed peach blossom eyes.

"Ah?"

Yu Meier snapped back to reality, her pretty face flushing, and she quickly averted her gaze.

"No... I wasn't looking at anything."

He casually tossed the ring to Yu Meier.

"It's yours as a reward."

Yu Meier subconsciously caught it, and when her Divine Sense entered, she gasped.

The space inside the ring was enormous, filled with Heaven And Earth Treasures, rare Medicinal Pills, and Top-Grade Spirit Stones piled up like mountains. Several Magic Treasures among them even exuded the aura of quasi-Saint weapons.

Such wealth was enough to make anyone take notice.

This is called... a pauper?

She looked at Jiang Chen's matter-of-fact expression, momentarily at a loss for words.

Just how high was this man's vision?

"Let's go."

Jiang Chen paid no attention to her shock; he simply turned and prepared to leave.

"Hey!" Yu Meier came to her senses and quickly followed him.

Yu Meier looked at Jiang Chen's back, her thoughts swirling.

She moved her lotus steps lightly, and soon walked side-by-side with Jiang Chen.

That strange, faint fragrance once again wafted over, but this time, it had less of a deliberate allure and more of a natural charm.

"Holy Son Jiang, you were just now... so magnificent."

Yu Meier leaned close to Jiang Chen's side, her breath like orchids.

She had reverted to her seductive, silken-eyed demeanor, her voice soft and sweet, as if it could burrow into one's bones.

Jiang Chen's steps did not falter, and he didn't even lift an eyelid. "Get to the point."

"I just wanted to ask..."

Yu Meier leaned even closer, her peach blossom eyes seemingly about to drip with water, "You defended me so much just now, is it because... you've taken a liking to me?"

She blinked, her eyes sparkling, and her courage grew, as she deliberately spoke in a coy, delicate tone.

She didn't believe this man truly had a heart of stone.

That moment of protection just now couldn't have been faked.

She wanted to strike while the iron was hot, to pry open this man's cold exterior and see what was hidden inside.

Jiang Chen's steps finally paused.

He turned his head, his gaze falling upon Yu Meier's exquisite face, which was now so close.

Jiang Chen said nothing, just watched her quietly.

Their distance was very close, so close that Yu Meier could clearly see her own reflection in Jiang Chen's eyes.

The atmosphere, at this moment, became somewhat subtle.

Yu Meier felt a little flustered under his gaze, and her heartbeat inexplicably quickened.

She even began to ponder in her mind how she should react if Jiang Chen admitted it—should she feign modesty and push him away, or go with the flow and lean closer?

Watching Yu Meier's reaction, the corners of Jiang Chen's mouth slowly curved into a smile, and he suddenly felt like teasing her.

He reached out and gently lifted Yu Meier's chin.

This action from Jiang Chen made Yu Meier's body tremble slightly.

"My person," Jiang Chen suddenly said.

"What?"

Yu Meier was stunned by what she heard.

"From now on, you are my person." Jiang Chen's words showed no intention of discussing it with her.

Yu Meier was completely dumbfounded.

What kind of brazen words were these?

She had never seen Jiang Chen be so unreasonable.

"I... when did I agree?" Yu Meier retorted, both angry and amused.

"Do I need your agreement?" Jiang Chen countered.

"You..."

Yu Meier was so choked up she couldn't speak.

Then, as if he had achieved his goal, Jiang Chen continued, "Your face is indeed pretty, and your figure isn't bad."

Jiang Chen's voice was low, "Too bad..."

"Too bad what?"

Yu Meier asked subconsciously.

"Too bad your brain isn't very functional."

Jiang Chen released her, the smile on his face instantly vanished, and he reverted to his indifferent expression, "You're thinking too much."

With that, he turned and continued walking forward.

Yu Meier froze in place.

Brain... not very functional?

Her proud charm and cunning, in front of this man, only earned her such a comment?

An unprecedented surge of shame and annoyance welled up in her heart; her delicate face turned crimson, not from shyness, but purely from anger!

The slight romantic thoughts she had just entertained, that girlish flutter of infatuation, were instantly shattered by these words.

Who was she? The Saintess of Joyful Union Sect!

She actively threw herself at him, yet this man remained aloof.

"Jiang Chen!"

She stamped her foot, her eyes a little red from anger, feeling terribly wronged, "You bastard! Block of Wood! An unromantic dullard!"

She quickly caught up, following behind Jiang Chen, gritting her silver teeth, having already cursed this man thousands of times in her heart.

You took advantage of this Saintess, and you still dare to despise this Saintess?

Good, very good!

I'd like to see how long you can keep up this act!

Jiang Chen could feel the resentful gaze behind him, almost burning through his back, but he didn't care.

He glanced at the System map with a rather pleasant mood; the small dot representing Nangong Mingyue was still moving slowly in an area three hundred miles away, seemingly not having encountered any danger.

This completely put his mind at ease.

Since Nangong Mingyue was temporarily safe, he might as well explore and scavenge more here for a while.

And Yu Meier grew angrier the more she thought about it, cursing Jiang Chen in her heart as she walked.

"Bastard! Son of a bitch! When my cultivation surpasses yours someday, I'll tie you up and torment you every day! I'll let you know my power!"

"Let's see you be so stubborn! Let's see you bully me!"
