62: Central power changed hands

“Who's there!”

Inside the Main Control Hall, the five remaining guards were terrified by the sudden turn of events, but years of training made them react instinctively.

“Enemy attack!”

“Open fire!”

Energy beams instantly wove into a deadly net of fire, completely sealing off the entrance.

Reno and A Yong dove to the ground almost simultaneously, bullets grazing their scalps and leaving scorch marks on the alloy wall behind them.

“Suppress them!” Reno roared.

The soldiers behind them immediately took cover behind the door frame and returned fire using the “Cutting Torch” rifles modified by Lao Mo. Instantly, the Command Room erupted in gunfire.

“Mr. Chen!” Reno growled into his headset. “They're using the control consoles for cover, we can't get through!”

“Understood.”

Chen Feng's calm voice came through the headset, completely unperturbed.

“Reno, Control Console Number Three on the left, energy overload.”

The moment he finished speaking, the screens of a row of control consoles on the left side of the hall instantly flashed blinding red light, followed by a huge explosion, bursting into a brilliant shower of electrical sparks!

A guard hiding behind it was thrown to the ground by the blast wave, screaming.

“Fire suppression system, activating.” Chen Feng's voice was like the whisper of the Grim Reaper.

“Woo—! Woo—!”

A deafening alarm instantly echoed throughout the hall, and the sprinklers on the ceiling sprayed out large amounts of blinding white foam, instantly disrupting the vision and formation of all the guards.

“Now's our chance! A Yong!” Reno shouted, seizing the opportunity.

“Understood!”

A Yong's figure was like a black bolt of lightning leaving a trace image as he streaked through the flying foam, instantly penetrating the guards' now disorganized net of fire.

“Wha—”

A guard only managed to gasp before A Yong struck him on the neck with a hand chop, causing him to slump silently to the ground. Another guard had just turned his muzzle when A Yong grabbed his wrist, squeezing gently—the crisp sound of bone shattering was clearly audible.

The defense line was completely torn open.

The remaining three guards looked at the phantom-like man and completely lost their will to fight.

“Don't shoot! We surrender! We surrender!”

Just then, a sharp voice suddenly rang out.

“No! We can't let them succeed!”

Lio, Bachm's cowardly private secretary, crawled out from some corner, his face covered in snot, tears, and fear, rushing desperately toward an independent Destruction Terminal in the corner.

In his hand, he tightly clutched a small, black data chip.

“Stop him!” Reno immediately realized the importance of the chip and shouted sharply.

But he was too far away, and he was afraid the gunfire would accidentally damage the terminal, which looked very important.

“Dream on!”

A Yong gave a low shout, arriving first despite starting later.

Just as Lio's finger was about to insert the chip into the terminal slot, a large, vice-like hand grabbed his wrist.

“Ah—!”

Lio let out a pig-slaughtering scream, his wrist deformed by the crushing grip, and the data chip flew out of his hand, tracing a parabola through the air.

A quick-witted rebel soldier dove forward and caught it securely in mid-air.

“Captain! We got it!”

Reno kicked Lio, who was crumpled on the ground, took the chip from the soldier, and without even looking, casually tossed it to a team member behind him.

“All data is sealed. This is war booty.”

He strode up to the Main Communications Console, ignored the guards begging on their knees and the wailing Lio, and quickly connected to Chen Feng's encrypted line.

His voice was steady and strong.

“'Birds Nest' occupied. Repeat, 'Birds Nest' occupied.”

“Very good.” Chen Feng's voice came through calmly. “Now, dismantle the 'claws' and 'wings' of the Birds Nest as well. Proceed with the separate actions as planned.”
