92: Hanhai New Star
"I can do that."
Chen Feng's answer was so fast it didn't seem like he'd even thought about it.
Without the slightest hesitation, he tapped several times on his terminal, and an authorization confirmation message was sent to Su Li.
"Highest authority has been transferred."
This decisiveness and trust were the final straws that broke the last of Su Li's doubts.
She gave Chen Feng a deep, complex look, but eventually her expression returned to calm. Without a word, she turned and walked toward a data terminal in the corner of the meeting room.
Reno followed behind Chen Feng, watching her slender back, and whispered, "Boss, just like that... you're giving her everything we own?"
"Leave professional matters to professional people," Chen Feng's tone was calm. "If we don't have even this much trust, we don't deserve to have her."
Su Li sat in the terminal chair and plugged in her personal interface.
In the next second, her presence completely changed.
If she had been a blade of vengeance hidden in its scabbard just a moment ago, now she was a supercomputer running at full power.
Her fingers danced across the virtual screen, moving so fast they became a blur. Massive streams of data poured down before her like a waterfall. Financial reports, personnel files, mineral reserves, technical parameters—things that looked like gibberish to Reno—were being processed, categorized, and analyzed by her at an incredible speed.
Reno watched from the side, dumbfounded.
For the first time, he felt the terrifying power of a 'business genius' in a way that was completely different from the slaughter of a battlefield. It was a suffocating power that controlled everything in silence.
Time passed minute by minute. Several hours later, Su Li's movements suddenly paused.
Her gaze was locked onto an old geological survey report that a previous administrator had marked as 'data error.'
The report showed that a certain area of Ashen Earth Star had unexplained, periodic 'high-energy radiation anomalies.'
She zoomed in on the coordinates from the report and overlaid them with an ancient star chart, her eyes instantly becoming incredibly sharp.
She didn't say a word, silently marking the file with a red tag as a 'P1 Priority Investigation Item.'
A while later, Su Li finished her work. She stood up, walked to the bridge, and handed Chen Feng a brief report that was only three pages long.
"Asset assessment complete." Her voice carried a hint of fatigue, but more so the confidence of someone in full control. "Conclusion: It's a mess, but the potential is enormous."
She paused, looked up at Chen Feng, and officially gave her commitment.
"I'm in."
Almost at the same time, Reno's communicator rang.
"Reporting, Boss! That Reconnaissance Squad ship... has retreated! They've already jumped away!"
The threat was lifted. They had won a precious window of safety.
"Set a course, we're returning to Ashen Earth Star," Chen Feng ordered.
"No need," Su Li said, walking directly to the navigation console. "I've already planned it."
She pulled up a star chart with a brand-new route marked in green lines.
"Based on the needlefish's current hull damage, energy reserves, and known patrol risks along the way, this route is the most efficient choice." Her professionalism and decisiveness impressed all the crew members on the bridge, and they instinctively began to execute her commands.
After the ship smoothly entered warp travel, Su Li turned back to Chen Feng and presented her first work requirement since taking office.
"After returning to Ashen Earth Star, I need to immediately restructure the company and establish a brand-new KPI Assessment System." Her eyes were as sharp as knives. "During this process, I might step on some people's toes, or even... challenge the habits of the veterans."
"I need your unconditional support."
Hearing this, Reno's brow furrowed imperceptibly.
Chen Feng looked at Su Li's unquestioning gaze, then glanced at the slightly worried Reno beside him, a meaningful smile appearing on his face.
"Of course."
"Leave professional matters to professional people."
The needlefish turned into a streak of light and disappeared into the depths of space, flying toward the distant Ashen Earth Star.
Chen Feng knew that successful recruitment was only the first step. How to make this dazzling new star mesh perfectly with the gears of a team long accustomed to wild growth would be the next, and even more complex, challenge he would face as a leader.
