The Past of Elder Huoyu

"Cough, cough!"

"Brother-in-law?"

Ye Chen's heart trembled even more as he recalled what happened that day.

"Chen Ruxin is actually the cousin of this Fire Feather before me?"

Fire Feather continued, "My cousin told me everything about your time in the Aggregation Zone."

After saying this, Fire Feather handed the first letter to Ye Chen.

Ye Chen picked up the letter to examine it; the elegant handwriting inside was indeed that of a young woman.

Fire Feather's voice came again, "The content in this second letter is what I had my subordinates investigate and clarify."

Ye Chen's hanging heart eased slightly; for now, it seemed that this Fire Feather harbored no hostility toward him.

Fire Feather looked at Ye Chen and joked with a smile, "I don't know what kind of love potion you fed my cousin. She specifically instructed me to take extra care of you here in Qing County. I originally refused, but I had no choice. In this chaotic world, she is the only relative I have left. I cannot refuse her request. Moreover, what you, kid, have done is also..."

Fire Feather did not finish his sentence; instead, he looked at the few women standing to the side and said, "You all, withdraw first."

The women bowed slightly, said "Yes," and retreated to the side.

Only Fire Feather, Ye Chen and his group, and the twenty people who had previously blocked Ye Chen remained at the scene.

From the moment Fire Feather dismissed the extra people, Ye Chen understood that Fire Feather must have something important to say.

Fire Feather suddenly stood up and said, "Follow me."

Ye Chen was a bit bewildered but still got up and followed.

"Stay on guard!" Fire Feather turned his head to tell the twenty people.

"Yes!"

Fire Feather led Ye Chen and the other four toward a nearby villa.

This villa was already quite dilapidated and could not be compared at all to the one where Fire Feather lived.

They walked in through a hole in the broken wall and arrived inside the villa.

Fire Feather stood at a certain spot and suddenly stomped his foot hard. The ground trembled, and an iron plate suddenly appeared on the floor.

Fire Feather stepped forward and lifted the iron plate, revealing a staircase right before their eyes.

The confusion in Ye Chen's heart deepened a little more.

Fire Feather whistled, and the Nine Heavens Mystic Bird beside him leaped and flew into the dark staircase.

"Whoosh!"

Flames burned fiercely on the Nine Heavens Mystic Bird, illuminating the pitch-black staircase.

Fire Feather led Ye Chen and the other four inside slowly.

Five minutes later, they finally reached the end of the staircase.

A bright light appeared before them.

The space here was huge and contained many ordinary people. Unlike before, the ordinary people here all had smiles on their faces.

Some were gathered together chatting, while others were gathered together for entertainment.

When the many ordinary people saw Fire Feather, they called out happily, "Brother Zhang is here! Come, come, play with us for a while!"

Fire Feather smiled and said, "No, no, you guys go ahead and play. I'm just here to take a look!"

Ye Chen was completely shocked by the scene before him.

Fire Feather puffed out his chest and said with some pride, "What you are doing now, I have already started doing."

The next second, Fire Feather sighed and said, "Sigh, but I can only do it secretly. Moreover, my power is limited. The reason I have been living here is precisely because of this. I secretly built an underground space here to take in the ordinary people I encounter. You are not unaware of what the Azure Alliance does to ordinary people. Here, living conditions and such are relatively simple."

"But this is all I can do. When I received my cousin's letter, I started investigating you. I originally thought you were just a deserter hiding from the Law Enforcement Alliance, but what you did later made me admire you endlessly. You have done the things I wanted to do. Even without considering Chen Ruxin, I would still choose to help you!"

Ye Chen asked with confusion, "Why would you do these things?"

Fire Feather suddenly snorted proudly, "Nonsense! I was once the director of the Qing County Law Enforcement Bureau! I am, at the very least, a person who works for the public and the people!"

"Then why did you join the Azure Alliance?"

Ye Chen's words made the pride that had just risen in Fire Feather wither away again.

"Sigh, back then I was blinded by greed and accepted a bribe from the leader of the Azure Alliance. Later, I happened to draw a Saint Grade pet, and he coerced me into joining the Azure Alliance. I had no choice but to do so. However, my remaining conscience would not allow me to collude with them and oppress ordinary people, so I built this place," Fire Feather said with a sigh.

Ye Chen's pupils constricted, and he felt a bit of admiration for this Fire Feather in his heart.

Fire Feather suddenly turned to look at Ye Chen and asked solemnly, "Do you really intend to fight the Azure Alliance to the death?"

Ye Chen nodded firmly and said, "I must completely dismantle that Azure Alliance, for the sake of the people of Qing County, and for myself!"

Fire Feather patted Ye Chen on the shoulder and said the word "Good" three times in a row.

"Come, I will tell you all the information about this Azure Alliance so you can prepare!"

After saying this, Fire Feather pulled Ye Chen into a room and locked the door behind them.

Sitting in the room, Fire Feather placed a stack of documents on the table and said, "These are the strongholds of the Azure Alliance, along with information on the various Elders and Hall Masters. But don't worry, not everyone here is an enemy. Two of the Elders and four of the Hall Masters are my former comrades-in-arms. Like me, they had no choice but to join the Azure Alliance. When the time comes, I can have them join me in turning against the Azure Alliance!"

Ye Chen was somewhat shocked in his heart; he hadn't expected Fire Feather to have such influence. However, thinking about it, as the only Rank 16 Pet Master in the Azure Alliance, second only to the Azure Alliance leader, it was normal for him to have some trusted aides.

After all, the Azure Alliance was just an Alliance, not an impregnable city.

Any organization, even the Law Enforcement Alliance, has factions, let alone this Azure Alliance.

Ye Chen picked up the documents to examine them. Several people were circled in red; these must be the trusted aides Fire Feather mentioned.

After reading through them, he felt a bit more joy and confidence in his heart.

With these people joining forces, it would be much easier.

Even if no one helped, when the time came, he could bring out all three of his pets and take everyone down.

Fire Feather said, "The leader of the Azure Alliance, whose real name is Liu Jin'an, calls himself the Azure Emperor. He has currently achieved a Breakthrough from Rank 17 to Rank 18. His pet is also a Rank 7 Saint Grade pet, but it is humanoid in shape and much more Advanced than my Nine Heavens Mystic Bird. He also has a set of 3-star rare defensive equipment and a 5-star epic weapon. His combat power is extraordinary."

Hearing Fire Feather's words, Ye Chen was not very surprised this time. After all, as the leader of the Azure Alliance, it would be strange if his strength were not impressive.

Fire Feather shared some more information with Ye Chen. Finally, Fire Feather asked, "When do you plan to attack the Azure Alliance headquarters?"

Ye Chen thought for a moment and said, "Now is not the time. I plan to first finish off these Hall Masters of the Azure Alliance. It would be a perfect opportunity to use that to raise my Rank."

Ye Chen made a rough calculation: if he finished off all the remaining Hall Masters, he could reach approximately Rank 17, which would give him a better chance of dealing with the Azure Emperor.
