68: The whole city "asks for a monthly ticket"

As more and more people fell, a star-like spark of fire shot into the sky.

Under the night, it was like a meteor streaking across, gradually converging into a river of stars.

It swept towards the outside of Qingshan County.

The scene was magnificent!

Not long after, outside Qingshan County, an explosive sound of air suddenly rang out.

Immediately after, a figure rapidly materialized in the air.

It was Chen Yuan!

Silver light burst from Chen Yuan's eyes as he watched the white mist swirling within Qingshan County not far away, with sparks of fire shooting into the sky.

His pupils constricted sharply.

Upon observing with his Minds Eye, those twinkling sparks of fire were clearly illusory little figures.

Souls!

Damn it.

How could so many souls be drawn away at the same time?

Chen Yuan's figure exploded, rushing into the white mist.

As soon as he entered the white mist, he felt a sense of disorientation.

It could disturb one's mind.

Immediately after, Chen Yuan's sleeve vibrated.

The bronze lamp reacted.

Has that ship appeared?

Chen Yuan flipped his hand, and the green lamp appeared.

With a “puff,” a blazing fire lit up.

When the fire lit up, the surrounding white mist seemed to have intelligence.

Where the fire shone, the mist dispersed.

Chen Yuan's figure moved wildly in the next second.

He rushed into the county town.

Along the way, his Minds Eye scanned, discovering figures lying on the ground in disarray.

He rushed forward, grabbed one person's wrist, and found their heart was beating, showing signs of life.

But their Divine Soul had left their body.

Soul-Leaving Sickness!

Then, his figure flashed.

He moved extremely fast, rushing to a place where white mist had just swept over.

In a household, two star-like sparks of fire were flying out of a room.

“Capture them for me!” Chen Yuan lightly shouted, two terrifying silver rays shooting from his eyes.

He forcibly captured those two star-like sparks of fire.

Then, he crashed through the window and entered the house, pressing the two sparks of fire into the foreheads of a young couple.

The young couple, who had been unconscious, slowly woke up after the sparks of fire entered them.

When they saw Chen Yuan, they were first startled.

But before they could cry out, Chen Yuan had already flown out.

Then, Chen Yuan used his Minds Eye to capture souls along the way, waking up several households.

However, when he arrived at Old Wu's tavern, he saw that Old Wu's Divine Soul had already been drawn away; he was sprawled on the table, with shattered bowls and chopsticks scattered on the floor, as if he had been tidying up when he fell unconscious.

Chen Yuan frowned, and his figure disappeared.

Then, a few breaths later, his figure appeared in his own small courtyard.

His eyes flickered as he scanned around.

The two little ones, along with the widow and her child from next door, were all gone.

This also included the green lamp with lamp oil.

Chen Yuan looked up at the sky full of starlight and took a deep breath.

He didn't know where the mistake had occurred.

He looked at the green lamp he was holding, which illuminated the long night.

Then he looked towards the Northeast outside the city.

His eyes flickered intensely.

Then, his figure boomed, like a cannonball, rushing towards the Northeast of the county town.

With the green lamp guiding the way, after half a cup of tea's time, Chen Yuan landed with a crash on an embankment by the river.

His eyes emitted terrifying beams of light, piercing through the mist, looking at the vague outline within the mist.

It was clearly a large ship!

At this moment, within the mist, it was as if demons were whispering in his ears, or Buddhas were chanting scriptures, like thunderous bells, disturbing his mind.

“Noisy!” Chen Yuan roared, like a Buddhist lion's roar, his voice vast.

Immediately, his ears cleared.

Chen Yuan squinted, watching the “river of stars” flying from Qingshan County, pouring into the shadow of the ship.

“I'm going to see what exactly this thing is.”

His eyes blazed, holding the green lamp.

He stomped his foot and shouted as he rushed forward.

Soon, he disappeared into the mist.

A few minutes later, the white mist surged back like a torrent, rushing back from Qingshan County.

After sweeping into the river, it disappeared instantly.

Not long after, under the night, from the Southwest direction outside Qingshan County, a rapid sound of hooves came.

Two large horses, with their hooves flying, traveled over mountains and ridges as if on flat ground.

They arrived at the Nu River bank in the Northeast of Qingshan County.

“I last sensed that ship appearing nearby, but I don't know why it suddenly stopped.”

“Damn it!” a voice filled with exasperation rang out.

It was the arrival from Baidi City who appeared below Jing Mountain.

Liu Ming's face was gloomy, his eyes looking at the surging eastward-flowing, empty river water, then he turned his head to stare at the extinguished bronze lamp he was holding.

He urged it frantically.

But no matter how he urged it, the bronze lamp no longer reacted.

This made him somewhat frustrated, as his efforts had been in vain.

He had initially activated the lamp fire and sensed the ship, but for some unknown reason, the ship turned and left in another direction.

He quickly rode his horse to pursue, but lost the sensation midway.

He could only confirm that the ship's last known location was near this river.

But now, there was nothing here.

“Someone has been here.” At this moment, a voice faintly came.

Beside them, a figure flew off a large horse, leaping dozens of meters away.

He stood by a collapsed section of the embankment.

The collapse was about three or four zhang in diameter.

In the middle, there was a clear pair of footprints.

Qin Hu stood by the pit, his eyes flickering.

Soon, Liu Ming's figure also appeared by the pit, his expression instantly gloomy.

“Could someone have gotten here first?”

Qin Hu sneered, seeing his arch-rival frustrated, not even bothering to respond.

However, Liu Ming frowned, thought of something, and looked towards the Southwest, where there was an outline of a city under the darkness.

“That seems to be Qingshan County,” he said.

“If that ship appeared in this place, there must have been an anomaly, or something must have attracted it here.”

“Qin Hu, I want to see that Patrolling Mountain Commandant of Qingshan County.”

“You understand what I mean!”

Qin Hu glanced at this guy and snorted coldly.

He hoped this mad dog wouldn't bite indiscriminately later.

Otherwise, he might capsize in a ditch.

Soon, the sound of hooves rang out again in the mountain forest, galloping towards the Southwest.

A few minutes later, these two Patrolling Mountain Commandants from Baidi City arrived in Qingshan County.

But soon, both of them realized something was wrong.

The entire county town was too quiet!

Qin Hu's body flashed as he rushed into a two-courtyard house beside the street.

Soon, he saw people lying about in disarray, in various postures.

He quickly went forward to check.

He found that all these people were still breathing, but no matter how much he shook them, they wouldn't wake up.

Liu Ming also followed up at this point, touching the center of these people's foreheads.

He frowned.

“These people are missing the human soul among the three souls of heaven, earth, and human. Could it be a demon at work?”

“No!” Qin Hu shook his head gravely.

Then he flashed into the adjacent courtyard, finding the same situation.

Upon further investigation, all three households were in the exact same state.

He suddenly thought of something and gasped.

Could the entire county town have become like this?

Soon, his figure moved wildly up and down the county town, entering house after house.

Without exception, the entire county town had fallen into a deep sleep.

Just as Chen Hu felt the situation was becoming serious, he finally heard movement in one household.

In one household, a young couple was whispering:

“What was with the fog outside just now?”

“We seemed to suddenly faint.”

“Then suddenly felt like we were flying.”

“Yes, it was flying, and I saw everyone in the city seemed to be flying!”

“Then that Young Master appeared and woke me up!”

“It scared me!”

“This dream is so strange.”

“Me too, strange.”

And just then, with a “bang,” the door was kicked open.

Qin Hu burst in, his eyes gleaming, speaking word by word:

“Sky Patrol Division is handling a case. You, tell me what you just said again, in detail!”

The young couple was startled, huddling together and backing away.

Looking at the burly, bearded man, they cautiously recounted what they had just experienced.

“...A wave of mist suddenly surged into the house...”

“Then, I felt myself flying, flying above the county town.”

“I also saw everyone in the entire county town, just like me.”

“How to describe that feeling? It was like floating in a dream, like Ascension!”

“Then a handsome Young Master woke me up.”

“But the feeling of this dream is so clear.”

The bearded man's voice deepened upon hearing this.

“This is not a dream!”
