3: Chapter 3 Yang Xinyue's Late-Night Visit
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
Just as Sun Po was imagining Changyou slaughtering all sides in the Gaokao arena, suddenly, the door was knocked on.
Sun Po put away the Changyou card and opened the door.
"Snap!"
Outside the door, the umbrella was closed, revealing a charming face with a hint of annoyance in her brows and eyes.
The person who came was none other than Sun Po's homeroom teacher—Yang Xinyue.
She wore a simple high ponytail, wore no makeup, and her hair was a bit messy.
The white shirt on her upper body was drenched, sticking to her chest and outlining a breathtaking curve.
The denim hot pants on her lower body wrapped around a full, rounded curve.
Sun Po only felt as if he had been flashed by blinding headlights the moment the door opened, and quickly moved his gaze away.
Yang Xinyue's willow brows stood on end.
"What? You're just going to let me stand at the door?"
Sun Po hurriedly made way.
"No, no, no, Sister Xinyue, come in quickly."
Yang Xinyue walked in on her own accord, plopped down onto the sofa, and waved her hand, saying,
"Get me a towel!"
Sun Po handed over a towel, poured a cup of tea, and asked,
"Sister Xinyue, why did you come over through the rain so late?"
Yang Xinyue took a sip of tea:
"To see if the student who hung up on my call is still alive? Just in case something unexpected happened to you."
Hearing this, Sun Po felt a bit guilty:
"Sister Xinyue, I was busy with something just now."
Yang Xinyue looked at Sun Po, her voice raising a bit:
"What could possibly be more important than the Gaokao?! The Gaokao is in a month!
Do you know that this is the only chance for us civilian Card Makers to change our destiny?"
Sun Po thought to himself, how could he not know?
Adding up his two lives, he had known about it for over forty years.
Yang Xinyue didn't reprimand him further, but simply spoke:
"How much is still lacking for the materials of the second card?"
Sun Po said stammeringly:
"All of it."
Yang Xinyue gave Sun Po a deep look, was silent for a moment, and still asked:
"What about the card? The Warrior or the Wrongfully Deceased Scholar?"
Pondering slightly, she softened her tone and continued:
"The Warrior will cost over six hundred thousand, and the Wrongfully Deceased Scholar is roughly around eight hundred thousand.
I can handle the money, but I suggest you choose the Warrior.
Because the provincial stage of the Gaokao is a one-on-one battle between Card Makers, your Spirit Monkey leans towards the reconnaissance type,
and its frontal confrontation is too weak; you must choose one that can tank damage..."
"Ahem."
Yang Xinyue was still earnestly analyzing, but Sun Po cleared his throat and interrupted her.
"Sister Xinyue, actually I feel that I can do without a second card."
Hearing this, Yang Xinyue took a deep breath and forced a smile onto her face:
"You better give me a reasonable reason, otherwise, tomorrow I'll make you come to my house to practice marksmanship!"
Recalling Yang Xinyue's ferocity, Sun Po involuntarily shivered.
Without any nonsense, he silently chanted in his heart:
[Changyou]
"Appear!!"
The next second,
Sun Po suddenly felt the room become humid.
A card radiating a faint purple light emerged out of thin air.
"Clang!"
The window flew open abruptly, and rainwater drifted in with the wind.
"Rumble!!"
Amidst the flashes of lightning and rumbling thunder,
a lean, tall white ape squatted in mid-air outside the window.
Its face was green with fangs bared, and its golden pupils were like lightning.
It looked like a ghost-eating Yaksha, or a fierce spirit descended to the mortal world.
It was none other than Changyou!!
Changyou seemed to be controlling this body for the first time; it stood up a bit unsteadily, its ape arms gently stretching out.
The rainwater on the ground converged into steps under its feet, appearing and disappearing with its footsteps.
The curtain of rain in the sky was churned by it, flowing upstream at times, splashing in all directions at other times,
and occasionally condensing into small water spheres before dropping with a snap, splashing water all over the ground.
It grinned widely and laughed, doing somersaults and having a blast playing in the rain curtain.
After a while, as if it had grown tired of playing,
it stretched out its long right arm and flicked its wrist.
The rainwater that had drifted into Sun Po's room was as if yanked by someone, directly flung out, and the entire room instantly became dry and fresh.
Then, Changyou's right claw clenched into empty air, and the falling rainwater abruptly stagnated.
In an instant,
only the howling wind remained between heaven and earth, and all the raindrops converged toward its right claw.
Clearly there was nothing there, yet the rainwater was as if trapped by a transparent long tube,
condensing unexpectedly into a rainwater long staff over two meters long!
After a long while, the wind and rain gradually subsided.
Changyou tightly gripped its right claw,
and that realistic rainwater long staff was unexpectedly like a solid entity, not being crushed by the grip.
It twirled the staff in a couple of floral patterns, and the water staff also whistled, without a single drop of rainwater spilling out.
A smile appeared on Changyou's cyan face, emitting a strange sound like a human groan.
The next second,
Changyou abruptly turned its head and looked at Sun Po.
Baring its fangs, its golden pupils were filled with joy.
Immediately afterwards, it rushed toward Sun Po like stepping on a spring.
"Clang!! Clank!! Clang!!!"
After a loud crash,
the entire window together with the wall was smashed into a large hole.
Changyou, looking just like a husky seeing its owner,
lunged straight toward Sun Po.
...
After a long while, Sun Po wiped the drool all over his face and handed the Changyou card to Yang Xinyue.
Yang Xinyue pinched herself hard and took the Changyou card.
The two of them sat facing each other like this inside the drafty room.
Yang Xinyue scrutinized it for a long time before she finally accepted this reality.
"You're saying that it is that Spirit Monkey card?
Changing from [Gray 1-Star] to [Purple 1-Star]? Crossing a full three major stages?"
"Yeah, the whole school knows my Spirit Monkey's personality is just like a dog."
Yang Xinyue nodded and asked again,
"How did it even change from a regular Monster Species to a rare Desolate Beast Species?"
Sun Po replied,
"I don't know, it should be because of my exclusive talent."
"And the cost was merely a non-sequential card-making material worth over a hundred thousand yuan?"
Sun Po nodded in agreement:
"My money was used precisely to buy that card-making material."
Yang Xinyue rubbed her glabella and said,
"Is this world going crazy?!"
Sun Po cautiously inquired,
"Sister Xinyue, this way I don't need to prepare a second card anymore, right?"
Yang Xinyue raised her head and stared at Sun Po as if looking at a monster.
"Your spiritual space can still accommodate cards?"
Sun Po didn't tell Yang Xinyue that not only could it accommodate them, but there was also plenty of room left.
He responded,
"Yes, it can probably still accommodate a green card."
Yang Xinyue cursed,
"Pervert!!"
She pinched the Changyou card and pondered for a long time.
Afterwards, she raised her head and said seriously,
"You still have to have a second card, and this card cannot be too weak."
Sun Po was puzzled.
"Could a purple card still not be enough?"
Yang Xinyue handed Changyou back to Sun Po.
"Within the province it's enough, but if you're fighting for a national ranking, it's not enough."
"The top ten nationwide in the previous Gaokao all possessed purple cards!
The national top scorer even possessed two purple cards!"
Sun Po was shocked; he thought he was already buggy enough.
"Are they descendants of elite clans?"
Yang Xinyue shook her head:
"No, they are commoners, and they are also trainee Card Makers."
Sun Po's pride from just obtaining a purple card vanished into thin air.
Truly, geniuses in this world are as numerous as carp crossing a river!
This Yanhuang Ancient Country with its population of over a billion truly produces generation after generation of geniuses.
Yang Xinyue said calmly,
"However, you don't need to worry either. You haven't entered university yet and don't understand the gold content of rare-type cards.
With this Changyou's potential, once fully developed, beating three or four ordinary purple cards of the same level is no pressure,
however, right now its ability to control its body is too poor."
Saying this, she glanced at the wide-open wall, stood up, and said,
"Let's go, your room can't be slept in anymore either. Bring Changyou, live at my house for this month, and I'll give you some extra training."
Hearing this, Sun Po's expression quickly turned bitter.
