75: Chapter 74 [The Deep Ones] Father God—Dagon!!

This aura brought a damp, terrifying, and suffocating sensation, making one instinctively want to rush into the abyss and howl at the top of their lungs.

All the [Mutated Deep Ones] and giant [Mutated Deep Ones] also ceased fleeing or attacking, instead cowering and kneeling on the ground.

Sun Po forced himself to clutch his head, howling in agony as the Black Rhino Armor on his body began to flicker.

Relying on the last thread of his sanity, he barely managed to issue a command in his heart:

"[Cold Jade Black Ice Shield]!! Open for me!!"

A spherical, black, translucent energy ice shield surfaced around the [Black Rhino Armor].

Only then did Sun Po's vision clear up again, allowing his sanity to recover slightly.

Directly in front of his view, a pale white eyeball over ten meters in diameter slowly emerged from the abyss, staring intently at Sun Po.

This sensation was truly enough to make anyone with megalophobia scream in horror.

"Rumble!"

A sudden, massive roar echoed from deep beneath the abyss.

Then, a house-sized giant claw covered in dark green scales abruptly reached out.

The snow-white tips of its claws plowed five massive gouges into the edge of the abyss cliff.

The pale white eyeball rose rapidly as a colossal creature slowly crawled out from the abyss.

Sun Po looked up, barely able to take in the full view of the creature.

It was a giant [Deep One] over a hundred meters tall, unlike the [Mutated Deep Ones] kneeling on the ground with antlers and spikes.

Its appearance matched the purest form of a [Deep One] from Sun Po's memories of his past life.

Its overall shape still retained a human silhouette, covered all over in dark green scales, with a dull yellow, snake-like transverse carapace on its belly.

Its head was a giant fish head with thick lips and bulging eyes like those of a dead fish,

showing only whites with no pupils.

On both sides of its neck, gill-like tissues twitched slightly, occasionally puffing out clouds of white mist.

Massive dark green fins grew from its joints and back, and the sharp claws on its hands and feet were connected by webbed membranes.

However, this terrifying monster was currently in a terrible state. Its scales were turned up all over its body, making it look as wretched as a fish with bloated scales.

One of its eyes was blind, leaving a pitch-black cavity from which dark blood continuously oozed.

Its body was also covered in wounds, and it relied on only a single remaining leg to painfully support its immense frame.

At this moment, the smartwatch on Sun Po's wrist emitted a series of sharp alarms:

"Beep beep beep!! Great Old One discovered—[Dagon]!! Card Maker Sun Po, please evacuate immediately!!"

"Beep beep beep!! Great Old One discovered—[Dagon]!! Card Maker Sun Po, please evacuate immediately!!"

"Beep beep beep!! Great Old One discovered—[Dagon]!! Card Maker Sun Po, please evacuate immediately!!"

Sun Po stared up at this hundred-meter-tall terrifying behemoth when suddenly, a crisp cracking sound reached his ears.

Looking closely, Sun Po saw that the [Cold Jade Black Ice Shield] was already covered in dense cracks. In the next second—

"Bang!!"

The [Cold Jade Black Ice Shield] shattered completely!!

A surge of intense dizziness struck again, and Sun Po hastily cast another shield.

At the same time, he checked the data projected by his smartwatch:

[Data Matched]

Monster Name: [Dagon]

Haunting Secret Realms: [Innsmouth Town], [R'lyeh Ancient City]...

Rating: [???]

Skills: [???], [???]

Description: [One of the Great Old Ones, suspected divine entity, possesses the power to manipulate water]

Sun Po screamed inwardly:

"[Dagon]!? A Great Old One?!"

Sun Po had some understanding of this creature from his previous life.

The term "Great Old One" first appeared in Lovecraft's 1926 work, "The Call of Cthulhu".

In it, "Great Old One" was the term a cult group used to address the idol they worshiped.

Back then, "Great Old One" specifically referred to [Cthulhu] and his kin—the [Deep Ones].

And [Dagon] was the father god of the [Deep Ones], serving as a lesser deity under [Cthulhu], with rumors even suggesting he had his own cult following.

In the original descriptions, [Dagon] possessed the power to manipulate oceans, control minds, and inflict mental corruption.

If this was the entity causing havoc, it indeed possessed the power to bring about a calamity capable of destroying the entire Jinyang City.

But seeing its battered condition, could there be something else beneath the abyss? Was even [Dagon] driven out by it?

Sun Po did not dwell on it further, realizing that this crisis likely extended far beyond the Li Family's Jinyang City.

He couldn't help but recall how, in the days before he left for the competition, Yang Xinyue seemed to leave early and return late every day.

Furthermore, she had already resigned from her position as Dean of Instruction by then. On the day of his municipal tournament final against Xu Xiu, the head of the Xu Family wasn't even present.

The head of the Xu Family had been present every single day prior when Xu Xiu wasn't competing, yet he was surprisingly absent on the day of his own daughter's finals.

Sun Po had a faint bad feeling in his heart, but he quickly composed himself and thought as he looked at the massive figure blotting out the sky:

"Regardless, I must survive the hurdle right in front of me first."

At this moment, Sun Po also noticed that among the three energy bars at the edge of his [Black Rhino Armor] interface,

besides the [Spirit] energy bar being completely full, the [Power of the Abyss] energy bar had also increased slightly!!

In other words, before the creature even made a move, Sun Po had already taken enough passive impact to charge up [Power of the Abyss]?

It was worth noting that ever since the [Black Rhino Armor] was created, the [Power of the Abyss] energy bar had never increased.

The reason was simple: incoming damage was usually too low to break through the defense of the [Black Rhino Armor].

Even earlier when Sun Po was wildly slaughtering the [Deep Ones],

when an occasional stray claw from a [Deep One] struck him, the energy bar for [Power of the Abyss] hadn't budged at all.

This meant that the moment [Dagon] appeared, merely a single glance from its eye,

had already triggered the protective mechanism of the [Black Rhino Armor]!

Sun Po was inwardly horrified: "Is this the power of a god?!"

However, looking at the creature's battered body, Sun Po felt a surge of eager excitement.

"If it were in its peak state, I might be powerless against it."

"But right now, with its entire kin slaughtered by me and itself heavily injured,"

"along with this boundless calamity aura, perhaps it's worth a shot?"

...

At the same time, within a massive battlefield,

Western dragons and angels flew across the sky, while terrifying, bizarre shadows towered above the clouds.

Opposite them, an old man wearing bright yellow dragon robes stood on the back of a giant golden phoenix, confronting them.

Behind him were countless soldiers clad in black armor standing atop large birds that resembled golden phoenixes, exuding majestic atmospheres.

Beside the old man, a middle-aged man clad in golden armor and holding a treasure pagoda hovered in midair, riding a massive white tiger.

The treasure pagoda in his hand vibrated slightly, revealing a faint crimson fire bead inside that was violently thrashing around.

The pagoda-holding man turned to the old man and said:

"Master, those few Great Old Ones have fled into Jinyang City. I fear they might cause havoc."

Showing neither anger nor joy, the old man replied:

"Pay them no mind. The authorities have been comfortable for too long; it's time to give them something to do."

"As for those untouchables outside the Secret Realm, wouldn't it be better if they were turned into raw materials?"
